This work presents a description-contextual study about the city of Curitiba origins, in its urban and architectural development process, since 1853 - the year of the province of Parana political emancipation, until the first decades of the 20th century, which was the city modernization phase. It objectifies to raise, describe and analyse some works considered demarcation in this development. The Three Squares: Tiradentes (Largo da Matriz), Rui Barbosa (Campo do Olho D'Água), Eufrásio Correia (Largo da Estação) and Passeio Público, in their features of creation and importance regarding the city landscape, and the internal and external influences from those who planned and executed them. The methodical design demanded documentary and photographic survey besides the mapping existing in public and private files, and through the analysis of documents and contents, the research was accomplished. The characters, facts, works and historical situations were brought out as relevant to the urban and architectural development of Parana capital city, considered important in the outline of the contours of this city, considered the urban planning model.

This research aims to explain the social representations of the body and sexuality transmitted to Brazilian Protestantism through the literature published on this theme throughout specific historical periods. Initially, three objectives were outlined: a) To investigate the social representations of body and sexuality in the classics of Protestant Christianity of the apostle Paul, St. Augustine, Martin Luther and Calvin; b) Explain the sexuality and eroticism present in the Biblical Writings; and c) Analyze the representations of the body and sexuality in sexual pedagogy in Brazilian Protestantism. With the analysis of corporeality and sexuality in Christianity and in Brazilian Protestantism we have a broader understanding of this obscure theme over the centuries and thus we can bring light to a more specific and liberating understanding.

Micro and small business have been increasingly concerning governments globally, as they act like social cushion due to the large number of jobs they are responsible for. Despite this, many countries have not yet been capable of developing public policies to effectively support the development of these enterprises. The Brazilian Federal Constitution of 1988, in its articles 170 and 179 of the Economic Order Chapter, gives them favored and differentiated treatment. Almost thirty years after C.F./88’s promulgation, and already with an infraconstitutional legislative set developed for small companies, they are still not important factors in promoting the Brazilian economy development. Was the constitutional treatment given to small businesses an attempt to generate public policies, or merely populist rhetoric?As a condition to the creation of public policies, it is necessary to define both the object and scope of these policies. In Brazil, though, there is still great confusion in the understanding of what a small company is. What is a small business after all? With that uneasiness, it can be of great value to study how these definitions are made, and what goals they pursuit in the most developed economy of the planet – The United States of America. It is also intended to study the US agency responsible for coordinating the country’ state policies related to small businesses, the Small Business Administration, and how actions to ensure the competitiveness of North American Small and Micro Enterprises work. This paper therefore aims to study the institutionalization of small enterprises in the United States of America and how they are part of the economy structure of that country. It is also intended to criticize the current treatment’ structure given to small Brazilian companies and to point out alternatives for the transformation of the national status quo, with the real inclusion of small companies as protagonists in the modernization and evolution of the Brazilian economy.

A moradia é considerada um direito social humano e fundamental. Ela está prevista nos documentos internacionais de direitos humanos desde a Declaração de Direitos Humanos de 1948, tendo sido recentemente incorporada ao rol de direitos sociais (art. 6º) da Constituição Federal de 1988, através da Emenda Constitucional nº 26, de 2000. Trata-se, portanto, de responsabilidade do Estado garantir moradias adequadas a toda população. Contudo, milhões de pessoas não possuem moradia digna no país, apesar da importância de tal direito. Desta forma, analisa-se que as políticas públicas de moradia existentes no país desde a Primeira República até o Programa Minha Casa Minha Vida não tiveram a efetividade suficiente para lidar com o problema de falta de moradias adequadas. O Programa Minha Casa Minha Vida, tema central deste trabalho, demonstra que, apesar de ter sido bem-sucedida, ao menos do ponto de vista do crescimento econômico e de geração de empregos, não conseguiu lidar com a falta de moradias adequadas no Brasil, contribuindo, ademais, para reproduzir as desigualdades presentes nas cidades, no sentido de que a população mais pobre deve necessariamente viver nas longínquas periferias, má-equipadas e longe das oportunidades de trabalho.

This paper presents the analysis and implementation process of the Bluefields Corporate program, a solution developed by Bluefields for large corporations that desire to innovate through startups. Taking into consideration a growing need revealed by corporations from different industries to accelerate their innovation projects and having acquired experience on the same subject, Bluefields explored the opportunity to offer a solution to meet this demand. The process started with a market analysis, which included research of exiting corporation-startup partnership projects, analysis of market trends, and observation of other movements serving the innovation segment. Next, a SWOT analysis was made to provide Bluefields with a better understanding of how to convert an internal process into a market solution. Then, a business model was designed, followed by the application of the Customer Development methodology for hypotheses validation, specially the matching between value proposition and the target customer segment. Lastly, the report introduces the program implementation plan, risk analysis and mitigation actions. Business proposals for implementing the Bluefields Corporate program continue to be negotiated with corporate clients, which demonstrates the complexity of meeting different demands regarding their intensity and innovation models, an ongoing process that has been providing insights to improve the proposed solution. Bluefields, after the completion of this work, is prepared to validate the solution and develop said solution with a large company in Brazil. Therefore, the present work seeks to contribute directly to the Brazilian innovation ecosystem, entrepreneurship and startup movement, which also positively impacts the economy and team up towards a greater economic freedom

This paper approaches the intersection between Social Security and the performance of the economy of the cities, considering Solidarity as a key element in this intersection, with a broad range of action in the financing as well as in the equitable distribution of security benefits. Our objective is to figure out how and why social security benefits have become so important for the local economies, and how each and every interpretation or application of the rights concerning Social Security must consider its effects to the economic organization and human development. This paper presents some thoughts on the Principle of Solidarity, focusing on the transition of Solidarity as a primarily sociological object of study to the legal rule, in casu, the key Constitutional Principle to the characterization of the Social Security System in Brazil Social Security is identified as an agent responsible for the change in the workers social reality, as well as a way to keep their quality of life.

This work aims to analyze the composition of ethnicity and religious identity, which plays the unifying role of the group of Taiwanese protestant immigrants, who during half a century of acculturation and social interaction has been composing the scenario of cultural and religious diversity in City of Mogi of the Crosses in the State of São Paulo. This research has as object of study the Presbyterian Church of Formosa, composed mostly of Taiwanese emigrants to Brazil from Taiwan Island, who settled in the city of Mogi of the Crosses in the second half of the twentieth century. The analysis takes a historical approach to the formation of the Presbyterian Church of Formosa and its unfolding, with the dedication and work of the first six families who arrived in the municipality in 1963, responsible for the construction of the first temple in the neighborhood of Botujuru. The collective and priority concern for the preservation of the Protestant faith in Brazilian soil, guided the way of living of the group; Motivated by the hope of Brazil as a prosperous land, just as it was the land of Canaan for the Israelites.

Study objectives: The indicators of entrepreneurship and the conditions of to undertake in Brazil, show a high index of business mortality and low educational level in entrepreneurship and innovation, to undertake without using a framework of a traditional business plan, may represent an alternative to new entrepreneurs, in this context, this applied study seeks to demonstrate the process of creating a startup based on the lean startup model and the concepts of open innovation. Design / methodology / approach: This work is of an applied nature, is a unique case study with exploratory objectives, of the unit case called GatoXadrez.com that will act in the area of education with themes of entrepreneurship, ethics, fiscal citizenship and accounting. With qualitative approach, for to analyze non quantifiable aspects and quantitative aiming for greater precision of the results. Data collection was done through: data collection by secondary and direct sources, direct observation and application of 270 questionnaires. Data analysis was performed through: content analysis, multivariate, descriptive and documentary analysis. Results: The results showed that the use of the lean startup model allowed the creation of the new company and its first MVP, favoring the process of validation of the premises and confirming its viability. The union of the lean startup model with the concepts of open innovation were also viable, as it gathered the professionals needed to develop the first product and develop the business. Practical implications: New entrepreneurs will be able to use these concepts to create companies with the minimum of financial resources, without the use of traditional business plans, using besides accounting control and gradual implementation of management controls, the accounting for innovation, which results in opportunities for success. This combination also suggests a new way of teaching entrepreneurship concepts to children from collaboration. Originality and contributions: The lean startup model propose a new way of thinking and building products and services and the concepts of open innovation can meet the demands of the new business. The work seeks to contribute to the ecosystem of entrepreneurship, with a new way of undertaking. The unit case is also relevant when seeking to teach children in a playful way, preparing them for the future, concepts of entrepreneurship, accounting, ethics and fiscal citizenship.

From the perspective of sustainable development in contemporary cities rescue the desirable city water dimension the research focuses on the rescue possibilities of the Tubarão River, Santa Catarina, at the dimension of the city urbanity: a large area of public environmental potential who lost his connection to the city, even though being the element responsible for its formation and historical development. The redevelopment of the river waterfront, allowing its appropriation for socializing and recreation, enables the recovery of the importance of the river to the city. The work is organized in three parts-chapters that complement and integrate itselfes: The Problem; The Demand; The Desire. The Problem brings the analysis of Tubarão River in the urban evolution of the city and presents its current context. The demand refers to the typical erratic approaches of our cities in the 20th century, essentially, in which our urban rivers were forgotten and renegades, and the current rehabilitation trends, bringing some successful cases of recovery of the relationship between city and water, international and brazilian, and possible approaches to questioning the Tubarão case. The Desire shows the current and future possibilities of rehabilitation of the river shores of Tubarão River and its City Park. Studies of reference projects set parameters in order to justify the implementation of a linear park along the river. It also seeks that this research will serve as a basis for the creation of spaces that foster the humanization of the city and urban interaction with the river.

The present research seeks to evaluate the work of the military chaplain. The focus is on analyzing his influence and the validity of his task within a military institution. Taking as a starting point historical, theological, technical and practical observation, the research seeks to confirm the hypothesis that the role of chaplaincy has been, is today, and will always be, of great relevancy to the armed forces: chaplaincy services, in terms of influence, validity and import within a military organization parallels the role played by spirituality and religion in all of human life. The path covered for the development of these observations begins with the historical development of military chaplaincy, from its beginnings to its regular establishment and pervasive presence nowadays. Next, it covers the religious aspect, analyzing, on one hand, the human being as imbued with spirituality and, therefore, needing contact with the sacred, and on the other hand, the military environment as that of an encompassing institution whose very conception points inexorably to the need of a helping intervention in terms of the resources offered by religious beliefs. Finally, the research is complemented by drawing on the professional experience of its author as an evangelical chaplain in the Air Force. The military profession of the chaplain is seen in distinction from general militarism and from regular religious work, mindful of the intersection between both roles and, thus, establishing a concept of military chaplaincy.

This work analyzed the physical characteristics of sunspots the solar cycle 23, detected using computer vision techniques. Images in visible light and magnetograms of the MDI instrument (Michelson Doppler Imager) of the space telescope SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory) were used in the process of detecting sunspots and the extraction of their characteristics. The flow of solar irradiance, number of spots, number of sunspot groups, area, temperature, brightness and the average magnetic field of sunspots were also studied. Based on the sunspot data, the behavior of these characteristics and relationships between them were verified along the periods of solar minimum and maximum. We detected and analyzed 32,317 sunspots, with longitude between -40◦and 40◦, throughout the entire solar cycle. The daily Wolf number series was compared with data from the SIDC research center, and showed a 95% correlation. In addition, nonlinear correlations were found regarding area and extreme magnetic field, as well as regarding temperature and area, and finally regarding temperature and magnetic field. It was also found that these correlations presented small variations over the time of the solar cycle 23, and that larger, colder sunspots and with stronger magnetic fields occur more frequently during periods of maximum activity.
