O texto trata da expansão do europeu pelo mundo a partir da Modernidade e do desenvolvimento das ciências, da tecnologia e das comunicações, para a exploração do distante e do diferente.Mostra como os cientistas sociais desenvolveram um método importante de ver e descrever o outro – a etnografia –, capazde aproximar pesquisador e objeto de pesquisa, desvendando‑os mutuamente. Analisa como a imagem passou a fazer parte desse método de conhecimento e a importância que ela adquire, na atualidade, nas formas contemporâneas de nos relacionarmos e conhecermos o outro.

Teatro, comunicação, pedagogia: notas sobre Brecht

The immediate consequence of Russian Revolution on German intellectuals in Weimar Republic (1919‑1933) was the politicization of art. In this climate, Brecht approaches to the political theater of Picastor and writes didactic plays. Thereafter, the trajectory of Brecht is marked by the pursuit of an interactive communicationand by the defense of pedagogical function of art. The reflections on the role of art are contemporary to the radio theory, the emerging of labour press and the cinematographic experiments. It is within this general framework we can understand Brecht’s theatrical proposals.

Reading, media reception and production of meaning

Pretendemos discutir neste artigo as relações de produção de sentido entre os conceitos de recepção, leitura e leitor. Para tanto, haverá considerações sobre os estudos da recepção e da história da leitura no mundo ocidental, considerando a interface com diferentes mídias. Aliados a essas discussões, procuraremos evidenciar o processo de produção de sentido por meio das discussões já referidas e da elaboração de categorias de leitores. Como resultado, tentaremos demonstrar que os processos de leitura e de recepção midiáticas têm sua coerência teórica no campo epistêmico da representação.

Reading and comprehension practices in children education

The aim of this article is offer same contributions to a theoretical description on educational practices. Firstly in the systemic proposal tradition, the article points out the practices and procedures used by Childhood Education. Secondly, the Family, School, Group of Peers and Media, will be observed on a integrated way, trough examples of Childhood Education. At the same time, those institutions of socialization determine which are able to describe this educational field. Finally, the paper points out, as example, a former application of these categories in acontext of interrelation between Media and Childhood Education.

A partir do conflito entre comerciantes e trabalhadores locais, surgiu a cultura portuária que tenta, até os dias atuais, preservar suas raízes mediante uma nova cultura disseminada pelo empresariado.

Visiting Brazil as part of her educational communication program, the Italian teacher Isabella Bruni was able to visit experiences in this area within São Paulo city and outline a comparisonbetween the work done in several Italian cities and the Brazilian projects. In this interview, she stands out the differencesand similarities between the education in the two countries, based on cultural and political traditions, and thinks about thepossibilities of using the communication tools in the classroom – resources that are already, frequently more familiar to youngpeople than to their teachers.

At Campo Limpo district, in São Paulo suburbs, from time to time an event happens and its trade‑mark is the freedom that all participants have to show, listen and learn more and moreabout poetry, music and several cultural events. Binho´s Soirée brings together people from different neighborhoods andsurrounding towns interested in cultivating culture – giving origin, moreover, to movements that spread to other parts of the state. In this testimony, the founder responsible for the Soirée tells a little about his experiences with reading and poetry, which knew more willingly than by formal education and tells how to cultivateand stand out the culture that arises in unusual places in the city.

Formalismo russo em sala de aula: uma introdução à poesia

The present work aims to point out possible connections between theoretical literary texts and the practice within the classroom, derived from a successful experience with two classes of the last year of primary education. It represents an introduction to poetic language, produced from Chklovski’s theory, an important name in Russian formalism. After presenting to students the notion of strange they were invited to choose a common object and to describe it in a singular manner, in the form of a poem. This activity will be presented and discussed, with the aim of showing how the proximity between the students’ reality and the literary universe, through creation, can make them to experience literature in a more ample manner.

The afro Brazil museum

Along more than 30 years of work turned to the recovery of black people memory in Brazil, the fine artist, museums curator and director Emanoel Araujo joined an extraordinary collection of more than 5.000 works, paintings, sculptures, engravings,  photographies, books, videos and documents, by Brazilianand foreign artists and authors, related to the theme of black people. In 2004, the artist created the Museu Afro Brasil, sponsored by Petrobras and with partnerships with the São Paulo City and State General Offices of Culture and the Ministry of Culture. The Museum has already carried out more than 80 temporary exhibitions, educative activities and events that brought it the recognition as institution of great importance in the local andnational cultural scenery.

In this Videography, the study of Brazilian identity construction is the reason to discuss how contemporary Brazilian cinema represents the imaginary of its migrant characters, or the onesreturning to their birthplaces. Constant issue in sociology, history, anthropology, geography and literature disciplines, thesection has chosen films in which the road and the displacement are predominant in terms of scenario and action, and in which they are the place of infl ow, evanescence, ephemeral, sociability, discoveries and construction of imaginaries in these films narratives, as in O caminho das Nuvens (2003), by Vicente Amorim, and Cinema, Aspirinas e Urubus (2005) by Marcelo Gomes.

Ambiências comunicativas

O autor evidencia como o termo comunicação parece cada vez mais ancorado e dependente da existência de outra dimensão, onde informações, notícias e acontecimentos, aparentemente,abandonaram os fluxos interpessoais para viverem no e do exclusivo universo maquínico. Com essa ressalva, alerta sobreuma provável falsa impressão de verdade, denominando-a de sinédoque das ocorrências comunicacionais. O excesso de visualidade e audição gerado pelo espalhamento dos media oferece, assim, uma espécie de ocultação, uma máscara,que termina por recobrir a própria ideia do fazer comunicativo. A apresentação, por fim, ao encaminhar os artigos desta ediçãoindica as várias dimensões em que se pode operar com o conceito de comunicação.

The space of media in school

This article results from the thematic table The Space of Media in School (2008) and the creation of the undergraduatecourse of teachers formation in Educommunication, by the University Council of Universidade de São Paulo (2009). The author proposes a reflection and places some issues, setting the need of understanding that spaces of articulation are needed in order to create a professional with expertise in the fields of Communication and Education in its pedagogicaland dicdatical dimensions to contribute to the formation of teachers for all levels of education and with the qualification ofeducational institutions. The author points out, predominantly, the Space of Teaching in Primary Education in its three levels (EB EF1e2, IN), and in the University Education. With the approval by the University Council of the undergraduate course of Teaching of Communication, in 2009, she indicates the creation of this new space as possible articulator, by excellence, of university institutions such as ECA/USP and FE/USP, which are directly connected to Education as a specific process of communication.

A bela Junie: a questão do duplo vai à tela do cinema

This article is based on the matter of the double applied to reading a photograph, especially a portrait. Such an imprisoned image acquires projection quality and becomes concious, playingthe role of an autonomous entity which survives the subject who grounded its genesis, sharing a certain identification with him. A paradox is before us: the photograph, as a double, reveals itselfat the same time as the presence of an absence, and the absence of a presence. We chose the film La belle personne in order to analyze the anthropological role of the photograph.

The cultural experience of reading
