O propósito desta edição especial da Lumina é dar visibilidade às conexões estabelecidas entre pesquisadores da América Latina e pesquisadores especialistas em América Latina que integram a equipe regional constituída para trabalhar questões e temas específicos voltados a estudos regionais e para inclusão no questionário da terceira etapa da pesquisa comparativa internacional Worlds of Journalism Study (2020-2022).

The complex triangle formed by the combination of the theoretical-methodological, ethical-political and technical-operative dimensions has been invested in an oscillating and diverse way throughout the Social Work profession history. The article, based on a thematic literature review, advocates a higher appreciation of one vertex, that has been treated in a peripheral and secondary way: the technical-operative dimension. An reinforcement of investment is urgent in the professional operability, particularly in the assessment and intervention process, based on theory, evidence and reflection, but also on what guides, sustains and pursues the profession in each historical moment. Therefore, the article proposes a professional agenda for the reinforcement of the technical-operative dimension in Social Work in Portugal which requires a collective reflection about the risks of disconnection and non-specificity in the triangular professional instrumentality, rescuing the centrality of the dimension in which profession "appears".

This article discusses the process of ideopolitical, epistemological and ontological appropriation of social theory of Karl Marx by the Brazilian Social Service, specifying the discussion of the ontological foundations of ethics. The article is part of the reflections developed in the discipline "Social Relations and Social Service", within the scope of the Postgraduate Program in Social Work / UFAL, and a bibliographical research that focused on the critical literature of Social Work, authors Marilda Iamamoto, José Paulo Netto and Lúcia Barroco, and on the foundations of work and ethics, based on Karl Marx, György Lukács and Sérgio Lessa. The main result of the research is that Social Service, through the ontological appropriation of Marxian thought, was able to think and problematize the complex of ethics in human sociability, taking work as the ontological foundation of social being.

This article is the result of the third stage of the research "The Movement of Latin American Reconceptualization in the School of Social Work of Porto Alegre", which aims to identify the bases of the Latin American debate in this school. In order to do so, an exploratory study was conducted with interviews, consultations in articles, books and historical documents in order to characterize the expression of a reconceptualizing tendency in the School of Porto Alegre, as well as its repercussion in the Movement of Reconceptualization in Latin America. The article has as its guiding principle the Latin American seminars on Social Work and the participation of gaucho professors in these events. Also noteworthy is the trajectory of Seno Cornely, professor of the School of Social Work of Porto Alegre at the time, for his role in the Movement of Reconceptualization and his intense participation in professional articulation in Latin America.

We analyzed the implementation of the "National Social Assistance Policy / Single Social Assistance System - PNAS / SUAS", in Minas Gerais, from 2007 to 2014, through a bibliographical and documentary research related to the minutes of the "State Council of Social Assistance" and of legislation related to the subject, in addition to being based on field research with the "Regional Directors" and "Higher Level Technicians" of the “Regional Directorates of the State Department of Labor and Social Development"- SEDESE. We note that the PNAS strengthened the "Regional Directorates", in their expansion and internalization, and they act in the sense of fulfilling their role as a regionalized state entity, but they lack greater support to fully exercise their attributions, presenting themselves as great bottlenecks the centralization of actions and the lack of funding to improve their institutional capacity.

This paper seeks, through a bibliographical and documentary research, to present a study that involves the participation of the Social Service, especially the Federal Council of Social Service and the respective regional councils (the so-called CFESS-CRESS group), in the construction of Brazilian social assistance from the 1980s, as a citizen's right and a state duty. To this end, it presents an introductory discussion on the projects in dispute in the field of social security, in particular in social assistance policy, which are articulated to different corporate projects.

This article presents results of a research whose objective was to analyze the work of the social worker in the Public Defenders of the Union (DPU/CE), focusing on the feasibility of benefits rejected by the National Social Security Institute (INSS) through social expertise, considered the "flagship" of the Social Work process in the institution, with the increase in the judicialization of social rights. The research, of a qualitative nature, had social assistants working in the DPU/CE, involving bibliographical, documentary and field studies, with questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The dialectical method was used, which also bases the social studies carried out by the interviewees, who, when analyzing the social reality in a critical way, are guided by principles of the ethical-political project of the profession, among which are the defense of rights working class and commitment to the quality of services provided.

This article is the result of critical reflections established during the exercise of professional activities with the working class population. Even with focus on municipal space, the locus of daily work, the objective is to underline the context of the loss of rights at the national level for the huge contingent of exploited, oppressed and subalternized people who expands quickly. In this sense, some reflections on the impacts of the counter-reforms - aggressively resumed by the establishment of an illegitimate government, constituted through alliances between sectors of the economic-financial bourgeoisie and the conservative Congress - against a whole population marked by the specificities of class, gender, race / ethnicity, which make up a large part of the totality of social relations.

The article presents the results of an already completed research that had as object of study the users of social assistance policy in Juiz de Fora, seeking to overcome the characterization or profile presented by social policies. The methodology used was qualitative, consisting of a bibliographical study and field research in the Reference Centers of Social Assistance. Sixty participant observations and 41 in - depth interviews were conducted with the purpose of knowing the central elements present in the subjects' daily lives, such as education, working conditions, understanding of politics, and the meaning of the same in their lives. Among the analyzed aspects, we emphasize that the public user is composed mostly of women, with low schooling. The main reasons related to the interruption of the studies were teenage pregnancy, the need to be incorporated into the labor market, even if informally, being irreconcilable with the studies. Among the findings of the research is the change of the "audience of the assisted" incorporating workers who are in the informal labor market, with "flexible, intermittent and precarious" days. We point out that even with the advances obtained from the legislation that elevates social assistance to the level of public policy, most users interviewed do not understand it as a right.

The article presents the main approaches adopted in dealing with issues about poverty and social inequalities as well as the housing policies in Brazil. From this scenario presented is intended to highlight elements considered important analytical potential that have been little explored, pointing in that direction, some shortcomings in the studies on the issue of housing. To dialogue and discuss the available literature on the treatment of poverty, inequality and their expressions in the housing issue, we see the spatial segregation not result, but as a constitutive element of public actions in this area.

Bioethics consists in a proposal to understand situations based on moral dilemmas taking into account the reflection of phenomena related to the human existence. It is in this paradigm that feminist bioethics is inserted, proposing a vision focused on the processes of social assujeitation and masculine domination of the subjects whose behaviors are problematized. Taking this theoretical current as a basis for the present study and considering the decision of the Federal Supreme Court in ADI nº. 4.424 - which considered actions related to bodily injury from domestic violence of unconditional public nature -, it is proposed, through a bibliographical review, to analyze the urgency to expand the requirement for compulsory notification of cases of suspected domestic violence by health professionals to the organs of the Justice System. It was concluded that compulsory notification is possible as well as necessary, because the autonomies of these women are actually compromised due to the characteristic vulnerability of these victims, who frequently suffer from low selfsteem and therefore have their autodetermination also bluried because of the domestic violence cicle they are submitted to.

The child victim of sexual violence has its development compromised, due to the gravity, magnitude and reflexes that this violation of rights can cause in his life; considered as one of the most cruel violations of rights committed against a human being in a peculiar condition of development. In cases of sexual violence against children there is an unequal power relationship, a correlation of forces in which the adult has power over the child, a relationship exercised from the strongest to the weakest. It is a bibliographical research having as methodological theoretical conception the critical social dialectic perspective.

This article is a research report that aims to understand and to analyze the way that family interaction occurs in Education Policy, in specificity of the Multifunctional Resource Rooms that attend students of the Special Education in the Perspectives of the Inclusive Education in the public education system of the Matelândia City – Paraná State. The research used methodological procedures from qualitative, descriptive and exploratory research. Based in the developed study, it can be affirmed that the interaction among family, school and professionals that support students with disabilities, global development disorders and high skills/giftedness hasweaknesses since occurs communication among this institutions however, it does not happen the desired for the good school relationship being that a topic to be advanced.

The article presents an analysis of the repercussions of the transformations of capitalist society and its consequences in the world of work, focusing on health of the teaching worker in the city of Juiz de Fora, linked to a Municipal Department of Education, who are in the process of removal functional in readjustment in the Organizational Ambience Department (DAMOR). Through field research conducted in this department and basead on a critical analysis of the data collected, we seek a greater understanding the worker’s / health worker relation ship in molds of productive restructuring; and how the process of functional readaptation of the teacher, become ill, pointing out the causes of his illness and the interferences in the well being physical and mental.

Considerado o maior crime ambiental do Brasil, com mais de 600 km de extensão atingidos pelos rejeitos da lama, a barragem de Fundão rompeu-se no dia 5 de Novembro de 2015, e depois de semanas em curso, essa lama atravessa Minas Gerais e chega ao estado do Espírito Santo. Caracteriza-se como um crime ambiental em curso, não só pelo percurso que a lama fez, mas pelos impactos negativos que ela continua causando na vida das pessoas e no meio ambiente. Passado mais de três anos ocorre outro crime ambiental de grandes proporções, também em Minas Gerais, no município de Brumadinho, e o que se tem de mais concreto sobre a mineração no Brasil é a iminência de ruptura de outras barragens. Esta realidade interpela e diz respeito, não só as comunidades atingidas ou em iminência de serem atingidas, mas a sociedade como um todo, diante deste modelo de mineração, tão devastador da natureza e de tantas vidas.

This paper presents a translation of the beginning of Aeneid's Book IV along with notes and comments. In the excerpt, Dido tells her sister that she fell in love with Aeneas, and Anna encourages her into a marriage bond with the Trojan hero. The translation follows a metric parameter of proportionality that was adopted for the transposition of the hexameters into decasyllables.    

O texto apresenta a tradução anotada de duas cartas (Cic. Fam. 5.12 e Plin. Ep. 7.33). A carta de Plínio, escrita ao historiador Tácito, imita a de Cícero, endereçada ao historiador Lúcio Luceio. A anotação procura apontar o jogo intertextual de tal imitação emulativa.

This translation by Italian language exposes the general report presented by the Brazilian intellectual, Gilberto Freyre, to the 30th study session of the International Institute of Different Civilizations, held in Lisbon, April 15-18, 1957. It is about the cultural aspect of the problems of ethnic and cultural pluralism in intertropical communities. This text was first published in Brazil, in 1968, in a set of essays entitled Brasis, Brasil e Brasília where the author addresses social issues - sociological, anthropological and even political - of general interest, not just Brazilian, and under mainly scientific criteria.

The first dialogue of Cicero's De finibus is dedicated to the discussion of Epicurus' moral thought. The main characters are Torquatus and Cicero. In the first book, Torquatus’ speech exposes the theory of pleasure. Cicero refutes his interlocutor in book II. An important point in the discussion concerns the foundation of friendship. Here we present a Portuguese translation of excerpts, taken from the speeches of the two characters mentioned, that constitute the controversy about the Epicurean notion of friendship: Fin. I, 65-70; II, 78-85. The translation is accompanied by a brief introduction and explanatory notes.

This is a Spanish translation of the first chapter from the treatise known as Prolegomena de Philosophia Platonica. Its authorship is unknown and it dates from the latter half of the 6th century A.D. The first chapter contains a description of Plato’s life (Proll. I. 1-6). On this occasion, a short introductory essay and a translation with explanatory notes are offered. The translation of the remaining chapters that complete the text is projected for the near future and in successive deliveries.
