Crescimento relativo de Macrobrachium acanthurus (Wiegmann, 1836) (Crustacea, Decapoda, Palaemonidae)
In this paper, the relative growth of Macrobrachium acanthurus (Wiegmann, 1836) (Crustacea, Decapoda, Palaemonidae), is presented; the cephalothorax length/abdominal length, telson length/abdominal length and abdominal length/total length relashionships were determined. The adjusted equations showed a isometric growth pattern. There are no changes in these relationships during the animals growth that may be significant in the maximization of the meat's profit.

Fecundidade em Macrobrachium acanthurus (Wiegmann, 1836) do Rio Ribeira de Iguape (Crustacea, Decapoda, Palaemonidae)
In this paper, the fecundity in Macrobrachium acanthurus (Wiegmann, 1836) of the Ribeira de Iguape river (Southern Brazil) (Crustacea, Decapoda, Palaemonidae), is presented. The mean individual fecundity of the population was estimated. Fecundity was related to either length and/or weight. Our data showed that this species presents high fecundity and is thus suitable for comercial culture. The fecundity/length and fecundity/weight relationships obtained are: F = - 14 712 + 2 311,8 L and F = -1493,9 + 798,76 W

Description of a new genus: Hammeriella gen. n. - from South America and a new family - Hammeriellidae fam. n. (Acari, Oribatei)
Hammeriella gen. n. and, Hammeriellidae fam. n. (Acari, Oribatei) from South America are described. Hammeriella is also recorded from "Tierra del Fuego" (Chile) and from Argentina. The type species of Hammeriella, Pedrocortesia grandis Hammer, is fully redescribed and the cogeneric species, Pedrocortesia australis Hammer, is diagnosed in comparison with the type species, both being transferred to Hammeriella. The redescriptions were made from syntypes deposited in the Zoologisk Museum of Copenhagen, sent on loan for this study.

Novazelandiella gen. n. (Acari, Oribatei, Hammeriellidae), a new genus of mites from New Zealand
A new genus Novazelandiella (Acari, Oribatei, Hammeriellidae) is described. The type species, Pedrocortesella nigroclava Hammer, 1966, New Zealand, is redescribed from the holotype (Zoologisk Museum, Denmark) and from six specimens (Acarology Laboratory, USA) identified as being co-specific with the type material, after being confronted with it. Up to the present time, the new genus is monotypic and restricted to New Zealand, being close to the South American genus Hammeriella Paschoal.

Ciclomorfose em Bosmina (Crustacea, Cladocera) no Lago Paranoá, Brasília
In order to verify the existence of seasonal variations in morphology of Bosmina longirostris and Bosmina hagmanni, samples were taken from Paranoá Lake (Brasília, DF) during 1983. Body length and breadth, antennule, mucro and eye diameter were measured. Alometry rates were also calculated. It was verified that throughout the year both Bosmina species presented variation involving the five measures. The measures, except the antennule and mucro of B. longirostris, depend, at least partially, on the size of the individual and, therefore, on the age structure of the population. The antennule and mucro variations of B. hagmanni were strongly related to alometry rates. For B. longirostris the antennule and mucro variations appeared to be related to phenomena in an embryonic phase.

Análise de caracteres morfológicos e comportamentais em abelhas africanizadas, caucasianas e em descendentes dos seus cruzamentos
Twetve external morphological traits and seven traits of food-gathering behavior were studied in africanized and caucasian (A. m. caucasica), bees. Discriminant analysis showed that neither the length of the fourth segment of the abdomen, nor bee weight can be considered as the traits with the highest discriminatory power between africanized and caucasian bees, with any in-bred bees. In the case of in-bred bees the discriminam traits had a lower interorbital width and time to reach the feeder. Multivariate comparisons between the data of in-bred colonies and twenty hibrid colonies, suggest dominance of the genes group of the africanized subspecies.

Descrição dos estágios imaturos de Epilachna spreta (Muls., 1850) (Coleoptera, Coccinellidae), com redescrição, comentários e chave para três outras espécies
This paper includes descriptions of the immature stages of Epilachna spreta (Muls., 1850), as well as redescriptions together with certain comments of E. paenulata (Germ., 1824), E. cacica (Guér., 1844) and E. clandestina (Muls., 1850) are presented. Two new species groups have been established and named as "paenulata" and "cacica". A key for the fourth instar larvae of the species commonly found in South Brazil is included.

Ucides cordatus cordatus (Linnaeus, 1763) (Crustacea, Decapoda): complete larval development under laboratory conditions and its systematic position
Six zoeal stages and the megalopa of the comestible crab Ucides cordatus cordatus (Linnaeus, 1763) are described and illustrated. The larvae were reared in the laboratory at temperature 25 ± 1ºC and water salinity of 24; duration of stages and survival rates were measured. Comparisons with the descriptions of the zoeal morphologic characters of Ocypodidae and Gecarcinidae permited to include definitively U. c. cordatus in the family Ocypodidae, subfamily Ocypodinae.
