Ouvimos também muitos a falar em branqueamento de capitais, crimes financeiros, abuso de informação, manipulação do mercado, etc.. Salvo o devido respeito, contudo, poucos sabem o quão difícil é a prova destes crimes! Sabiam que p.e. até meados de 2008, crimes como o abuso de informação ou a manipulação do mercado eram insusceptíveis de interferência nas comunicações?! Sabiam que até hoje, o Código dos Valores Mobiliários não prevê a criminalização das pessoas colectivas e, portanto, dos próprios bancos?! Abstract: We hear too many to talk about money laundering, financial crimes, insider trading, market manipulation, etc .. Unless all due respect, however, few know how hard it is to prove that the crimes! Numa altura em que continuam em vigor uma série de misteriosos e injustos contratos de PPP’s, contratos futuros-swap e rendas artificiais outorgadas a lucrativos grupos económicos – e mais desfavoráveis às contas do Estado e contribuintes, como várias instituições e personalidades têm alertado em público incluindo a imprensa internacional -, a defesa dos dinheiros públicos assume cada vez maior importância. Este projecto de investigação tem como objectivo o estudo da relação entre a Cultura Urbana do Skate e a Ilustração. A partir desta premissa, é proposto um trabalho teórico-prático que reflecte sobre a aplicação da Ilustração no universo do Skate. Através da vertente teórica, procura-se fundamentar e explicar a prática, constituindo uma recolha de estudos de caso adequados aos objectivos práticos do projecto. Na vertente prática, é proposto um sistema de trabalho em rede entre os dois autores, são delineadas várias etapas de implementação repartidas entre ambos, onde cada autor desempenha o seu cargo de forma autónoma com valores e objectivos compartilhados. Posteriormente, é apresentado um relatório com os resultados práticos deste projecto que envolvem a criação de um blogue gráfico experimental, uma marca que o identifica e um evento que reúne a Cultura Urbana do Skate, a Ilustração e a Música. O presente documento é composto por dois volumes distintos. O primeiro volume destina-se à redação escrita da dissertação sobre a investigação realizada. O segundo volume destina-se à documentação de todas as etapas de implementação prática do projecto, através de um dossier de campo.

O presente projecto pretende analisar o factor participativo da arte praticada em espaço público na cidade do Porto, enquanto estímulo de transformação dos contextos socioculturais. A partir da criação do projecto prático Imagin’OPorto e da respectiva implementação de um conjunto de iniciativas contextuais na Freguesia de Cedofeita da cidade do Porto, pretende-se reactivar o papel activo do cidadão no espaço público. Esta forma de investigação, executada através de um formato prático, permitiu a criação de obras artísticas permanentes nos espaços públicos desta zona da cidade, de modo a focar o estudo num conjunto de novos conceitos e mudanças de paradigmas que estão associados a este tipo de expressão artística. Esta prática teve o objectivo de contribuir para a dissolução de barreiras entre diferentes grupos urbanos, promovendo a sua coexistência, bem como também potenciar o debate entre os cidadãos e instituições, sobre a utilização do espaço público.

This paper presents a study carried out in order to evaluate the students' perception in the development and use of remote Control and Automation education kits developed by two Universities. Three projects, based on real world environments, were implemented, being local and remotely operated. Students implemented the kits using the theoretical and practical knowledge, being the teachers a catalyst in the learning process. When kits were operational, end-user students got acquainted to the kits in the course curricula units. It is the author's believe that successful results were achieved not only in the learning progress on the Automation and Control fields (hard skills) but also on the development of the students soft skills, leading to encouraging and rewarding goals, motivating their future decisions and promoting synergies in their work. The design of learning experimental kits by students, under teacher supervision, for future use in course curricula by enduser students is an advantageous and rewarding experience.

In medical emergency situations, when a patient needs a blood transfusion, the universal blood type O− is administered. This procedure may lead to the depletion of stock reserves of O− blood. Nowadays, there is no commercial equipment capable of determining the patient's blood type in situ, in a fast and reliable process. Human blood typing is usually performed through the manual test, which involves a macroscopic observation and interpretation of the results by an analyst. This test, despite of having a fast response time, may lead to human errors, which sometimes can be fatal to the patient. This paper presents the development of an automatic mechatronic prototype for determining human blood typing (ABO and Rh systems) through image processing techniques. The prototype design takes into account the characteristics of reliability of analysis, portability, and response time allowing the system to be used in emergency situations. The developed prototype performs blood and reagents mixture acquires the resultant image and processes the data (based on image processing techniques) to determine the sample blood type. It was tested in a laboratory, using cataloged samples of blood types, provided by the Portuguese Institute of Blood and Transplantation. Hereafter, it is expected to test and validate the prototype in clinical environments.

With the increasing number of aged people, especially in developed countries, Ambient Assisted Living solutions have become an important subject to be explored and developed. Currently, as specialized Institutions in geriatric care cannot cope with the increasing requests for support of quality of life, patients have to remain at their homes having as caregiver the other member of the couple or a member of close family. A solution for supporting the caregiver, during assisting the bedridden person with some basic tasks as eating, taking a bath and/or hygiene care is of utmost importance. This paper presents an approach for supporting the caregiver in moving and repositioning the bedridden elderly people (BEP) with the assistance of a mechanical system conveyer. The conceptual design of the mechanical system must be devoted to assist the caregiver in the handling and repositioning of the BEP. The proposed mechatronic system must, ideally, minimize the system's handling complexity, reduce the number of caregivers and the amount of spended and needed effort.

Ambient Assisted Living is an important subject to be explored and developed, especially in developed countries, due to the increasing number of aged people. In this context the development of mechatronic support systems for bedridden elderly people (BEP) living in their homes is essential in order to support independence, autonomy and improve their quality of life. Some basic tasks as eating, taking a bath and/or hygiene cares become difficult to execute, regarding that often the main caregiver is the other element of the aged couple (husband or wife). This paper presents the conceptual design of a mechanical system especially devoted to assist the caregiver in the handling and repositioning of the BEP. Issues as reducing the number of caregivers, to only one, and reducing the system's handling complexity (because most of the time it will be used by an aged person) are considered. The expertise obtained from the visits to rehabilitation centers and hospitals, and from working meetings, are considered in the development of the proposed mechatronic system.

É fundamental, já o dissemos, o direito à expressão e informação, seja ou não seja por meio da comunicação social dirigida às massas. Como Carlos Pinto de Abreu refere e bem, no seu livro e no seminário, entre juízes, partes ou sujeitos processuais, advogados ou solicitadores, magistrados do Ministério Público ou testemunhas, peritos ou funcionários, encontramos “pessoas que podem ser mais ou menos sérias”, por sinal “motivadas por outros interesses que não os de servir a Verdade e a Justiça”; Abstract: Carlos Pinto de Abreu as regards and well in his book and seminar, between judges, parties or procedural subject, lawyers or solicitors, prosecutors and witnesses, experts or officials, found "people who may be more or less serious" , by the way "motivated by interests other than those serving the Truth and Justice".

A pergunta é simples: para que é que afinal serve a Constituição? Será para fazer dos pobres cada vez mais pobres e dos ricos cada vez mais ricos? Será para deixar morrer os velhos na valeta, acabar com o Serviço Nacional de Saúde ou com a ADSE?; Abstract: The question is simple: what it is that ultimately serves the Constitution? Bem, recordamos que, salvaguardando a presunção de inocência em relação a eventuais crimes como a fraude fiscal qualificada e/ou o branqueamento de capitais, entre outras especiarias, o art. 11º do Código Penal é claro (apesar da controversa constitucionalidade): “8 - A cisão e a fusão não determinam a extinção da responsabilidade criminal da pessoa colectiva ou entidade equiparada, respondendo pela prática do crime: § a) A pessoa colectiva ou entidade equiparada em que a fusão se tiver efectivado; e § b) As pessoas colectivas ou entidades equiparadas que resultaram da cisão; Abstract: Well, remember that, safeguarding the presumption of innocence in relation to possible crimes such as qualified tax fraud and / or money laundering, among other spices, art. 11 of the Criminal Code is clear (despite the controversial constitutionality): "8 - The split and the merger does not determine the extinction of criminal liability of the legal person or related entity, accounting for the crime: § a) The legal person or related entity where the merger has effected; and § b) A legal entity or related entities resulting from the split.

Various authors have written about the importance of drawing in design methodology. Their general conclusion points drawing as an essential tool for design research, as it allows investigation of several alternative solutions in design process (Cross, 2007). The recent profound changes in design nature (Norman, 2011), justify a discussion on the purpose of drawing in design courses. As a consequence of this new reality, the educational institutions face the challenge of the definition of their curricular structures and teaching methodologies. Among others, concepts such as collaboration and multidisciplinary design approaches have been discussed as strategies for design education (Heller and Talarico, 2011, pp. 82-85). In this context, and using our teaching activity experience in Drawing and Design areas, the authors discuss:  how can drawing methods be included in the current design teaching?  can drawing be considered as an interdisciplinary approach?  what contributions can these methodologies provide to the educational/learning process? Based on these concerns, we developed an interdisciplinary project in the Graphic Design Course with two curricular units: Drawing 1 and Aesthetic and Design Theory 1. In this article the authors present the aims and process developed, and discuss the outcomes of this pedagogical experience.

O presente estudo pretende analisar qual o papel da ilustração e do ilustrador no universo dos jogo de tabuleiro, universo este que engloba uma grande variedade de imagens, símbolos e ferramentas. Abordando, para tal, um conjunto de conceitos que têm utilidade em diversas perspetivas de análise sobre o jogo. Os jogos de tabuleiro são na sua essência objetos de comunicação visual, daí que o processo de visualização e concretização destes implique a produção de mensagens visuais compostas por diferentes instrumentos de expressão e comunicação. Como tal, tentámos interpretar os elementos de um jogo de tabuleiro, juntamente com o conteúdo de uma narrativa, e aplicámos conceitos de forma a conhecermos as possibilidades da ilustração para esta categoria de jogos. Este projeto tem ainda como intuito a criação de um jogo de tabuleiro, com viabilidade de implementação no mercado, que seja capaz de transmitir de forma apelativa e lúdica uma das lendas que originou todo o imaginário Barcelense.

This article presents a research work, the goal of which was to achieve a model for the evaluation of data quality in institutional websites of health units in a broad and balanced way. We have carried out a literature review of the available approaches for the evaluation of website content quality, in order to identify the most recurrent dimensions and the attributes, and we have also carried out a Delphi method process with experts in order to reach an adequate set of attributes and their respective weights for the measurement of content quality. The results obtained revealed a high level of consensus among the experts who participated in the Delphi process. On the other hand, the different statistical analysis and techniques implemented are robust and attach confidence to our results and consequent model obtained.
