The claim is that the photographic document cannot be understood independently from its productive process. The photographer/creator’s creative potential was increased by the new digital technologies and he/she now has the power to eliminate and introduce elements and, thus, the hygienization of the image reaches new potential.
Status of the research on children and television

The Friends of the School
The article criticizes the advertisement the Globo TV Network aired dealing with the Friends of the School campaign on virtual libraries. It claims that since the collections are not digitalized and, therefore, are not available through the Internet, the advertisement is deceptive. It also emphasizes that it is favorable to new technologies, but that it is important to give the reader access to books and that there could be a campaign aiming at stimulating book donations to benefit school libraries. The article concludes providing IBGE data regarding how difficult it is to have access to books, in Brazil, at bookstores and public libraries.
Formats of intimacy
The author discusses the repercussion of reality shows, a new mode of television programming present in 17 Western countries. The programs aired by Globo TV – Big brother Brasil – and by SBT – Casa dos artistas (Artist’s house) – inspired all kinds of analyses. The author emphasizes the use of audience interactivity with programming and endorses the opinions of other critics who see this type of programming as agents of notions about public and private, citizen and individual, in a social movement context (...) In the article, the author also stresses that this format challenges traditional dramaturgy, introducing new elements in the audiovisual paradigm.
Documentary producers and camera eyes do not lie
The author talks about his experience as a movie producer, directing documentaries aimed at portraying popular struggles. His first challenge is to understand the force there is behind registering images that end up speaking louder than the director’s editing project. He talks about how his films passed the challenge of producer censorship, active subjects of the struggles he reported on, and how he guided himself, on those occasions, in order to defend the integrity of his work.
Reading and understanding medicine insert leaflets
A third grade teacher of the Dr. Cardoso de Almeida State School, in Botucatu, São Paulo, is developing a medicine insert leaflet reading project with her students. The purpose is to allow the student to perceive the importance reading has in day-to-day life and to show how important and how useful it is in bringing people basic information. The activities were carried out considering the difficulties students have to understand technical/scientific terms, making them research meanings in the dictionary and register them in papers elaborated and sent for joint evaluation by the student’s parents. The teacher noticed how dedicated and interested the students were and how their parents collaborated with the project.

The media in the school

The soap opera and daily life
Research projects carried out on the reception of cultural goods usually tend to concentrate on audience interpretations of discourse, without considering their relation with the daily social practices, from which they may not be dissociated. In the case of the soap operas, this focus gains even greater importance due to the textual characteristics of the genre itself, which makes itself adequate, very efficiently, to these daily routines. In other words, soap operas cannot be seen only as texts, rather, essentially, as social practices that insert themselves in the audience's daily life. The intention is, therefore, to show that the research carried out in the area must analyze the specific character of the genre and of the medium it circulates in. These matters must be included in any reflection on the interaction between cultural products and society.

Emotions and feelings: controversy on teaching art
The article discusses the idea of art as the 'expression of feelings and emotions,' beginning from the contestation of the idea that it is still common, nearly a stereotype, among professors of att, The terms of this idea (art - expression - feelings - emotion) are the focus of a reflection that points to a few risks in the notion of art as expression and, most especially, of art as the expression of feelings and emotions. Without denying the expressiveness of in/an art, or the possibility that emotions and feelings may be 'expressed' in art, the article calls one's attention to the partiality, mutability, contextuality and historicity of the idea in question. These points are suggested as important to review lhe idea of 'art as the expression of feelings and ermotions,' making its function relative and redimensioning its role in teaching art.
Educatlonal systems among machines and networks
The author discusses how information and communication technologies became the base of contemporaneous society's ideology, being pointed to as the solution for the main problems that are being confronted: violence, unemployment, development, education, health, etc. It considers the relation there is between new technologies and education, highlighting the importance of questioning the type of use and the foundations of virtual networks for education. It ernphasizes that virtual distance learning networks are incapable of promoting the critical and reflexive interaction the contact between students and teachers is able to estimulate, posing the risk of limiting the educational process to the pragmatic transmissíon of information. It also highlighis the changes that have been taking place in education regarding the teacher and student roles, the function of the book and of culture, as well as lhe relevance of the social movement´s use of technologies with actual educatíonal goals.
