Relação entre flexibilidade e dor em idosos ativos
O objetivo foi verificar a relação entre a flexibilidade e a dor em idosos ativos. Amostra composta por 12 homens (75,5±5,23) (GH) e 57 mulheres (67,95± 8.0) (GM). Para avaliar a flexibilidade: “sentado e alcançar” (FLEXMI) e “alcançar atrás das costas” (FLEXMS), para a avaliação da dor: o domínio DOR do questionário SF-36. A análise estatística indicou correlação significativa positiva entre a FLEXMI (p=0,009) e FLEXMS (p=0,003) com o domínio DOR no GM. Quanto maior a flexibilidade, menor é a dor.

O dia a dia de cuidadores familiares de idosos dependentes
Este estudo tem como objetivo entender o que é cuidar de um idoso dependente através do olhar de seus familiares. Conhecer os aspectos relacionados à vivência destes cuidadores permite a equipe de saúde, que presta atendimento a essa população, refletir sobre as questões psicossociais atreladas ao cuidar e conviver com um idoso dependente no domicílio. É importante que esses profissionais voltem sua atenção às necessidades dos cuidadores familiares, pois eles contribuem para sucesso final das abordagens de saúde.

Programs of Active Aging – A Relation between BMI and Triglycerides
Objective: To enhance the importance of physical activity programs for elderly and their influence on BMI and triglycerides. Methods: The sample consisted of 91 elderly individuals, 63 females and 28 males aged between 65 and 78 years of age. All seniors practice water activities, including swimming and gymnastics. Were analyzed with respect to two aspects: BMI, Triglycerides and practice time, seniors who were physically active at least 2 months, and seniors who maintained habits of physical activity between 2 and 6 months and still accumulated 30 or more minutes of other activities. We have established contingency tables were confronted where the variables described in the analysis. Results: It was found that elderly who maintained physical activity programs were broader outnumbered those who were overweight and obesity rates in Table I of BMI, and lower triglycerides values. Conclusions: We concluded therefore that physical activity programs that contemplate 2 or more hours per week, duly organized and systematized constitute a positive factor in combating inactivity and turn into a more active and cheerful elderly.

Envelhecimento, cultura e os judeus poloneses no Brasil
Investigou-se a relação entre imigração e significados de envelhecimento e ser velho, a partir da experiência de imigrantes idosos judeus de origem polonesa e descendentes. Uso de técnicas etnográficas. A família e a comunidade têm papel central no envelhecimento dos entrevistados. Os significados de velhice e envelhecer apontam visões contraditórias, acionadas conforme as vantagens simbólicas que proporcionam. Os aspectos étnico-imigratórios são importantes no trato do envelhecimento e velhice.

Negative stereotypes toward aging in old people from Latin America
Introduction: The objectives of the study are focused on investigating the presence of old age stereotypes in ten countries of Latin America. In addition, the level of stereotypes among the studied countries, as well as the influence of social demographic variables in the formation of stereotypes, were investigated. Methodology: a cross-sectional descriptive study of seniors with ages between 60 and 70 (N: 965) from ten countries of Latin America was performed. The relevant information for the study was obtained using the old age negative stereotypes survey (in Spanish CENVE). After that, the possible associations between the social demographic variables and the CENVE factors were investigated through the analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results show that there are negative stereotypes toward aging in older people being lower in the presence of this motivational factor. Furthermore, a significant correlation between the variables “occupation" and "education" was observed, and significant differences of the negative stereotypes between the countries of this study were confirmed. Conclusion: Old age negative stereotypes in seniors mainly from countries with important differences in health, educational and economic conditions were identified. The educational level as well as the socioeconomic status influence the development of old age negative stereotypes.

The Elder’s Body Image have become the object of several studies in recent years due to the influence that this has on the quality of life for theirselves. The objective of this research was to evaluate the perception of body image of elderly people through personal accounts and completion of a range of Body Image for Seniors. Through a photoshoot and application of a rating scale for body image levels of body satisfaction were evaluated.

The Imaginary from groups of elderly-grandparents that are responsible for their grandchildren in condition of vulnerability
In this article we seek to know the Imaginary a group of grandparents the over 60 years old. The research had a qualitative nature and was developed with a group of six grandparents responsible for grandchildren in condition of vulnerability. The mythical data was obtained by means of the Archetype Nine Elements Test, the AT 9 of Yves Durand and by the voice of the grandparents in narrative. The analysis was supported by the Anthropological Theory of the Imaginary of Gilbert Durand and revealed the predominance of the Imaginary where the pseudo-destructure and destructure were seen.

The Song as Breath of Life: a study of the effects of Choral in a group of elderly choristers
The aim of the study was to analyze how the practice of Choral Singing, music and reminiscences generated by old songs, influence the quality of life of the elderly. The research of an exploratory qualitative approach performed with 21 aged from 60 years, members of the Coral "Sempre Jovem (Forever Young)", the Open University of the Third Age (Universidade Aberta da Terceira Idade - UnATI) Catholic University of Brasília (Universidade Católica de Brasília - UCB-DF). Semi-structured interviews, questionnaire and socioeconomic Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RAS) were conducted. The analysis procedures included: content analysis / thematic analysis, transcription and categorization of interviews and calculating the overall score of the EAR. In EAR, subjects older than 6 months had a higher percentage of self-esteem than the Starter (less than 6 months), 76% and 72.3% respectively. The elderly women have more time to participate maintained a higher standard homogeneous self-esteem than the beginners. The rankings in subcategories confirmed the positive effects of Choral Singing. Yet been identified, according to the categories: Benefit ( memories, socialization, welfare); Affection (self-surrender, self-esteem, longin) and Quality ( competence, perseverance ). With the data obtained, we conclude that the Choir and its elements enable the improvement of several aspects of physical and mental health of the elderly women.

Evaluation of diet quality elderly in Brazil: scientific production on the subject
An integrative literature review was conducted in order to characterize the research conducted in Brazil on the quality of the diet of elderly. Bibliographical survey national publications in nutrition, from 2000 to 2012 in LILACS and SciELO, .18 scientific articles were identified. The results indiced that the diet quality index revised (IQD-R) was most used tool for data collection. Should emphasize the importance of further studies on diet quality to contribute to the identification of priorities in public policies for this population.

Body representation in old age: the real body versus the social body
This research is based on the Theory of Social Representations. Due to the cult of the perfect body, handsome young that society has shown, we sought to examine how this cult of the body affects the lives of the elderly. Thus were made interviews with 21 elderly, in order to verify how they understand the changes in relation to his own body over time and the possible relationship of these representations with the gender.

Social media digital and third age: in search of a tool for health promotion
This study examines the social networks as a tool for health promotion of the elderly group. It was made a field research with individuals of the "Quality of life in old age", project of the Physical Education course, of the University Center Cesumar – UniCesumar, Brazil. The investigation can conclude that being connected and the interest in news make the elderly insert themselves in cyberspace. And this insertion in the digital environment has great power to influence in promoting quality of life, because it acts as a powerful tool for health promotion.

O simbólico do idoso hospitalizado em enfermaria geriátrica: um estudo de caso
The present study identifies and analyzes the impact of hospitalization in the life of an elderly person, in terms of the possible emotional conflicts emerging in this context hospitalization. This is an experience report of a survey whose data field are analyzed from a psychoanalytic theoretical framework, characterized as a case study during the period of hospitalization of elderly patients in a geriatric ward. As a result, it points to the importance of differentiated listening that the psychologist must provide in attention to verbal and nonverbal requests in patient, given their orders (unconscious) relief , the manifestations of its symbolic anyway, so the professional can give shelter and referral to an intense feeling experienced by the patient according to their abandonment by family, added to the experience of grieving family and significant losses of various orders, consequent to the disease, and that are present in this patient speaks, or even hidden, but that cause anxiety and cravings.

The Posgerontologia raises an epistemological reading, critical and policy on the stories with which is built the aging and old age from the gerontology. This article will review critical and politically to the gerontology, both as a cultural object exotic - by its all-encompassing claim -, and as a field of knowledge whose budgets explicit and implicit impinge on its object of study. These factors put into consideration the settings that you must make any field of knowledge compared to the changes that it prints the context. As well as also expressed the need to account for the effects of the reality that built on the various forms of knowledge and social practices.

Aging and family contexts: perspectives on the family in the XXI century and the inclusion of professional care in this relational human structure
This study reflects on the politics of attention and professional training within the health sciences with regard to human aging and the relational family context, with emphasis on the impact of chronic conditions in the process of living by the human family. The study searches the theoretical reflection with sensitivity and vocational guidance towards the promotion of the health of people within the National Health System, in order to ascend the discussions on scientific knowledge; disciplining of knowledge; health programs; incidence and worsening of chronic conditions in the Brazilian population; new family configurations; and interdisciplinarity. It also highlights the integration of critical thinking by reflective professional according to the guidelines and bases of National Education in the amplitude range of the focus, through the integration of thinking-acting by the many configurations of families within the XXI century.

Elder perceptions regarding physiotherapy care in aging
In Brazil aging population and growing demand of people with chronic diseases and functional disabilities has attracted health scientists attention, since the process involves not only live, but also social relationships and family system. In this context, physical therapy inclusion at the primary level is presented as a strategy to strengthen primary care, increasing the Health System resolution in strengthening the integral care. Objective: To know elderly perceptions on physical therapy care developed within the family / domiciliary context. Method: Exploratory and descriptive study with a qualitative approach, performed at a municipality in Bahia, Brazil, in the period from April to July 2013, using as instruments: semi-structured interview applied to four elderly, users of domiciliary physiotherapy service Programme of Action of the Interdisciplinary Center of Studies and Extended Care and who had preserved cognitive conditions, according to Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE). Results: The results showed satisfaction of subjects concerning physical and functional changes resulting from physical therapy homecare on your overall well-being, and the home, as a privileged space to proximal rehabilitative action care, which was reversed in bonds of solidarity, sensitive listening, personal development and friendship. Nevertheless, it was also identified dissatisfaction regarding discontinuation and resolution of treatment during academic recess, making attention to the need for motivation in resilient people targeting capabilities.

Systematization nursing care for elderly patients of chronic renal failure hospitalized
This paper reports the experience of a nursing student in the process of preparing the plan of health care of the elderly with Chronic Renal Failure hospitalized. The development of care planning aimed to cover the care to the subject in its entirety. The academic experience with the professional reality strengthens the ability for practical application of theoretical learning methodologies concerning nursing care.

Quality of life of active and inactive elderly of the municipality of Santa Maria (RS)
The present study aims to evaluate comparatively the quality of life in active, insufficiently active seniors. The study included 60 older adults. To analyze the quality of life we used the SF-36 instrument, which showed differences between groups in all fields, and the group of active seniors showed better values. Thus, physical activity proves efficient in promoting healthy aging, maintaining the health and quality of life.

The elderly falls risk prevalence in a homes for the aged of Santa Maria (RS)
The aim of this study was to identify the falls risk prevalence, functional capacity and gender related differences for elderly living in a home for the aged at Santa Maria. We evaluated 14 elderly patients with average age 78,71 ± 9,18 years old. According to evaluations, we identified a deficit balance, especially among elderly women. Thus, was demonstrated the importance of physical therapy interventions that focus on stimulating the autonomy of this population.

National Fund of the Elderly: a tool for strengthening of Councils and guarantee of rights of the elderly
The National Fund for the Elderly, established by Federal Law No. 12,213, is under the jurisdiction of the National Council on the Rights of the Elderly - CNDI, which should set the criteria for its use in resolution, used as benchmark for the Funds Municipal, District and State. This article reports the experience and aims to record and disclose how was the inaugural managing this Fund which is a potential tool for strengthening the Councils and guarantee of the rights of Brazilians older people.
