We seek to characterize his trajectory from the perspective of cultural practice for the freedom of the oppressed, explaining his productions within the scope of the Science for the People movement and the liberating educational references used by him. Our analytical focus highlights the influence of his scientific, cultural and socioeducational practices in the training and professional performance of the the both authors of this manuscript, as university professors of sciences. We emphasize the Espaço Ciência Viva as his main educational action in Brazil. At the end, as an exercise in cultural synthesis, we highlight formative potentialities for the scientific and technological education area from the perspective of education as a practice of freedom.

Blumenau nas enchentes de 1983 e 1984 e o imaginário da “cidade do trabalho”

The article focouses the problem of how the current discourse about the “german laboriousness” appropriates the catastrophic phenomenon of the 1983 and 1984’ inundation, to show the “capacity of reconstruction” and “laboriousness” of the inhabitants of the city of Blumenau (“blumenauenses”). This discourse identifies the “blumenauenses” as heir of the German settlers pioneering of the last century, who found the city.

Between immateriality and physical emphasis: some literary experiments in the digital context

Taking into account the experiences of "dematerialization of the object" experienced by the neovanguard of the sixties, we propose to approach a corpus of Argentine digital literature from the point of view of its materiality. Specifically, we refer to Manifiestos Robots (2009) by Belén Gache, the Milton Läufer’s textual essays (2010) (2014) (2017) and El peronismo spam (s/n) by Charly Gradin. From this corpus, following the concepts of "formal materiality" and "forensic materiality" crystallized by Matthew Kirshenbaum (2008), we recover the concern about the materiality of apparently dematerialized works. For this we perform an analysis of plastic procedures that take to a material level the linguistic sign.

History of brazilian constitutional law: 1824’s Constitution of the Empire of Brasil and the Private Slavery System

This article has as its subject the history of 1824’s constitution of the Empire of Brazil aiming to analyze its relations with the prevailing Brazilian slavery system at the time. The problem with the research concentrates precisely in an apparent contradiction between the text of a liberal economic constitution and the functioning of an incompatible private economic system, initially, according to those statements. It’s assumed that the problem can´t be analyzed by the separation between theory and practice, but, instead, by an interpenetration of this instances through the law and the effective functioning of state institutions. The theoretical framework adopted in the text for analysis is the historical materialism, and the authors used as a basis for research are inscribed in this context. The deductive method chosen was analytical chapter, final considerations and bibliographic references.

Imperialism in Latin America and the current relevance of the Marxist dependency theory

This article presents a brief exposition of the concept of imperialism in order to problematize it based on the analytical categories designed by the Marxist dependency theory. The main purpose is to point out the relevance of the theory to understand the peripheral Latin American capitalism in contemporary times, giving due importance to the economic and political elaborations within the framework of Ruy Mauro Marini’s thoughts. Close reading was carried out on the intellectual production of Marini, and the main concepts and categories developed by the Marxist dependency theory – such as those of sub-imperialism and super-exploitation of the workforce – were then exposed. In terms of methodology, the reflections were based on dialectical materialism, which is contained both in the problematization of the actuality of the Marxist dependency theory and in the core of the formulations that it has examined.

Computer Science and Philosophy

There is a widely extended image of computer software as some sort of ‘black box,’ where it does not matter how it internally works, but rather what sort of results are obtained given certain input values. By approaching computer software this way, many philosophical issues are hidden, neglected, or simply misunderstood. This article discusses three units of analysis of computer software, namely, specifications, algorithms, and computer processes. The aim is to understand the scientific and engineering practices supporting each unit of analysis, as well as to analyze their methodology, ontology, and epistemology.

It addresses the relevance of this contemporary phenomenon - interactive digital literature - as a theme for the current critique; some market data; the diverse materiality of these productions, their individualizing character and their peculiar relation with time; as well as the need for reflection on what has been produced in this field.

Ascogregarina (Apicomplexa: Lecudinidae): An overview of its distribution and pathogenicity on Aedes aegypti and Ae. albopictus development

Ascogregarina species are protozoa that belong to the phylum Apicomplexa and parasitize several species of invertebrates, including some important mosquito species involved in transmitting arboviruses, such as dengue, yellow fever, chikungunya and Zika virus. The most frequent gregarine species reported for mosquitoes are Ascogregarina culicis, A. taiwanensis and A. barreti, which have Aedes aegypti, Ae. albopictus and Ae. triseriatus as natural hosts, respectively. Studies have shown that parasitism by some Ascogregarina species can negatively influence the biological development of mosquitoes and that this influence depends on their environmental distribution. In this review, we revise the distribution of Ascogregarina species in several countries and discuss how these parasites influence the development of mosquitoes and could possibly be used as a mosquito control.

The marches of Gustave Cauvin – the first systematic and regular form on militant cinema

The role of Gustave Cauvin (1886-1951) in the demarcation of the first phase of militant cinema was, individually, the most striking. This paper aims to present to the Brazilian public, through police reports and militant newspapers and by the work of Perron and Almberg in the article La propagande par le ilm: les longues marches de Gustave Cauvin, published in 2012, the marches of Cauvin in the Ardennes (France) with his cinematographer in 1913. It is emphasized that his dedication to the cause of propaganda by the image was situated in a long history of certain utopian messianism, a political voluntarism that sought to take to the masses the images that, if they wanted the voice of emancipation. Its trajectory also seems to denounce the apex of the limits of a practice and an ideology of the French working class movement on the eve of the Great War, at the same time as they were an expression of the movement against birth and of the antialcolism originated in bourgeois culture itself.

"For a feminism that burns men's underwear": a semiolinguistic study of digital theatrical critics

This paper aims to analyze the communicational contract of a digital theatrical criticism. In order to achieve this, we start with postulates from the Semiolinguistic Theory, mainly the notions of Subjects of language and enunciative strategies presents in Charaudeau (2001 [1984, 2005 [1983] and 2015 [1983]). We also avail ourselves of thinker of theatrical criticism, such as Garcia (2004) and Small (2015), as well as theorists which reflect about the communication modifications brought by new technologies, such as Lévy (1999) and Castells (2000). Through the undertaken analysis, it was possible for us to verify that the subjects produce language acts operating in the niche of the professionals of the theater and of the critical writing, in the theatrical public, and in students or inquisitors by these two areas. We accomplish that the communicant subject from the corpus under study presents itself as a gatewatcher (BRUNS, 2003) and that the enunciator of the investigated digital text is understood as an ignorant theatrical critic (SMALL, 2015).
