This study contributes to confirmatory evidence of asymmetric information to explain the equity issuesdecisionsat hot periods, as predict a time-varying adverse selection version ofthe equity market timing theory. Through testing with data from US companies for the period 1988-2012, it was found that the companies held their IPOs in hotperiods (hot market) showed a higher degree of information asymmetry compared to companies that issues in hot periods (cold market). For companies that have made seasoned primary issues in hot periods, the information asymmetry was lower compared to those companies that issued in hot periods. The information asymmetry was measured by quantitative variables of market microstructure and subsequently grouped into two factors, and only one of the factors was significant in the tests. It was also noted the influence of information asymmetry in the amount of equity issues and in financial leverage throughstatic and dynamic panel data regressions in all sub-periods (1988-1999 and 2000-2012) analyzed. The information asymmetry exerts inversely proportional influence on the volume of annual equity issues for considering companies. In the case of leverage, inversely proportional influence was noted.

This work has the objective of investigating and describing the relevance of the use of the Lot Sizing Economic calculation tool as an instrument for management decision making in industrial organizations regarding the optimization of the production process and management of demands and inventories, as well as the minimization of production total cost. The basic theory used in this study was Old Institutional Economics using the Burns and Scapens (2000) model. The research method adopted is characterized by the applied nature, through interventionist research and data analysis with a qualitative approach. Data collection was done through a bibliographical and documentary survey, as well as a case study from the action research that aims to propose the implementation of a new model of production system through the adoption of the integrated Lot Sizing Economic calculation tool to the Department of Planning, Programming and Production Control, of the company object of the study. The use of the economical production lot for the company's most important product resulted in a 1,86% reduction in the total cost of the product sold which impacted the increase of 5,30% in consolidated operating profit or R$/thousand 7.530 in the year. 2018.

O presente trabalho analisará a Lei nº 8.429/92 e o contexto histórico em que foi criada, discutindo os pontos positivos de sua criação bem como eventuais falhas, tratando, consequentemente, sobre os pontos suscetíveis de reforma. Inicialmente, será abordada a legitimidade ativa para ajuizamento da ação de improbidade administrativa, no tocante à ampliação, manutenção ou restrição do rol de legitimados. Em seguida, a possibilidade de ampliação do conceito de agente público será objeto de discussão da legitimidade passiva. Posteriormente, será abordada a gradação das sanções aplicáveis, comparando atos de menor lesividade a atos ímprobos com maior danosidade e reprovação social. Será abordada, então, a possibilidade de condenação por improbidade administrativa na modalidade culposa, bem como a possível aplicação do princípio da insignificância à conduta praticada e a realização de acordo, transação ou conciliação na ação de improbidade administrativa. Por fim, serão estudados os limites e possibilidades de alteração da Lei de Improbidade Administrativa para o seu aprimoramento.

O ato de caminhar na cidade tem sido prejudicado quando os indivíduos evitam espaços públicos visando priorizar a segurança. Em um local onde a caminhada é naturalmente prejudicada, como no Sumarezinho, é importante localizarmos os espaços que foram criados com o intuito de facilitar os percursos, mas que hoje são isolados e desapropriados. Assim, este trabalho busca tratar destes espaços articuladores que existem nas proximidades da Estação Vila Madalena. Como método de discussão contaremos com a definição de quatro conceitos principais, dentre eles violência urbana, gentileza urbana, caminhabilidade e a quadra aberta com o objetivo de demonstrar as qualidades de uma boa caminhada, entendendo a relação que deve haver entre os indivíduos e os espaços públicos.

Há valorização do processo que resgada toda uma produção local para a partir de sua incorporação ao levantamento empírico, se oriunde o projeto arquitetônico e urbanístico...

O presente trabalho busca analisar e entender não só a influência, mas também o peso das políticas imigratórias na saída do Reino Unido da União Europeia – popularmente chamada de Brexit. Para tal, será discutido um breve histórico da relação entre o Reino Unido e a União Europeia e suas reservas quanto às políticas adotadas pelo bloco europeu no que tange à zona do euro e à livre circulação de pessoas na área Schengen. Ademais, serão discutidas as propostas de políticas de imigração sugeridas pelos partidos britânicos para que, por fim, seja analisada e entendida a real influência que as políticas migratórias exerceram sobre os acordos apresentados ao parlamento inglês.

It analysis the Brazilian and Lusophone cultural identity discourse through three-way path. First, it is emphasized that it was marked decisively by Portuguese culture, first of its interacting with Indian culture and then with the African culture. The culture of settlers of Brazil was eminently Catholic, a direct result of religious discourse and constituent medievalism that religion. The concept of "cornerstone" is employed for the role of Portuguese culture in the colonization, borrowed from the Christian Scriptures that apply to the Biblical Christ as the one who ruled in his life and teachings of Christianity. Similarly, in the construction of the Brazilian identity building, Portuguese culture is established as the main stone in its foundation, determining and giving basis to all that would follow its implementation in Brazil. The carnival, attachment to the monarchy and fears, seen today as "superstitions" in our society, they were constitutive medievalism of the cultural identity of the nation discourse, Portuguese heritage. The second way that is exploited to analyse the formation of the Brazilian cultural identity discourse is in the application of Heidegger's thought as a tool for understanding of the transition from religious to secular, the shift that occurred especially in the late nineteenth century to the twentieth. It will be highlighted his concepts of memory, Dasein, as well as Augustinian beata vita secularized in his philosophy. The importance of Heidegger is already on its path from youth Catholic militant to existentialist philosopher, highlighting the secularism that results from his writings in the process of building their own identity. The third way is linked to the discourse analysis by greimasian optics, in which will be perceived the essential interaction of religious discourse in the Brazilian life until the nineteenth century, when there is the great secular turn. This was due to pressure from various modernist ideas were beginning to operate a detachment of a secular identity, because until this moment, there was only eminently Catholic national identity. It demonstrates how the centrality of Virgin Mary invocations contributed to this, drawing to itself the religious identification of the country, paving the way for the Cristo Redentor, has assimilated the Rio’s landscape yet, became the great Brazilian cultural icon, with its original intent secularized to represent a prosperous and happy life, open to all peoples and all cultures.

The paper deals with issues related to the implementation of the town planning health in the cities and of the urban planning to order the accelerated growth of the cities. It relates the action of the sanitary engineer, Francisco Saturnino de Brito and the town planner engineer Francisco Prestes Maia and their influence in the transformation of the urban space of Campinas. The city, located in the inland area of the state of São Paulo, had his origin from the establishment of troops that followed in the direction of the goldmines. It became a town in the cycle of the sugar cane and since then was in intense process of development, with the consolidation of the coffee complex, when its population was devastated by three big consecutive outbreaks of the epidemic of yellow fever. The paper compares some innovative proposals of Saturnino de Brito, in the condition Chief Sanitary District Commission of the State of São Paulo; and of Prestes Maia, the Urban Improvement Plan. It concludes that the urban planning is fundamental to control the natural growth of the cities, avoiding the major problems.

Introduction: Health training has shown the need for changes in traditional models of education and health care, marked by Paradigm Biologicist and uniprofissional. representing the changes in health graduate highlight the Multidisciplinary Residency in Health, which brings together various health care professions, except medicine. In this context, Multidisciplinary Residences in health represents an innovative proposal, due to its method centered in multidisciplinary education. Objectives: To describe and analyze the contributions of the Multidisciplinary Residency in Health University Hospital João de Barros Barreto / UFPA for training and operations in more traditional areas of health in Brazil , with the exception of medicine: Pharmacy, Dentistry and Nursing , under the optics its participants. Method: Descriptive, analytical qualitative study was conducted. The study was submitted to and approved by the Platform Brazil. For data collection were used semi-structured interviews, which were conducted between the months of September to December 2015. The script of the interview was prepared according to the research objectives. Data analysis involved interviews, and at a later stage was made articulation between the theoretical frameworks of the study. Results: In the research it was evident that the greatest difficulties in the RMS / HUJBB are: the need for increased training of HUJBB of health professionals to practice preceptor ship; emphasize the multidisciplinary approach in theoretical content, greater involvement of the tutors in the training of tutors of the course; wider dissemination of the pedagogical project for all involved in the RMS / HUJBB; greater coordination with state and municipal management of health. Participants guardians of the research consider how relevant the proposed multi-professional training of RMS / HUJBB but highlight as obstacles: they came from uniprofissional training and even the predominance of activities practices in hospital. Despite the reported obstacles survey participants graduates of RMS / HUJBB considered the livings in the RMS / HUJBB enriching for their training as professionals in health, as well as pointed out that the course of Multidisciplinary Residency contributed positively to their roles as professionals cheers. Conclusion: Considering the ambitious and innovative character of the Multidisciplinary Residency courses in Health, RMS / HUJBB has importance in the health professional training in the Amazon region, and provides opportunities that promote multidisciplinary training in health. But it is of great significance that the RMS / HUJBB be constantly evaluated and improved , so that the necessary changes to its development happen and the training of health professionals according to the paradigm of integral and multidisciplinary become reality.

This study aims to evaluate if and how the use of Competitive Intelligence (CI) can help established organizations (incumbents) in the response to Disruptive Innovations in their markets. Based on an intense literature review it was possible to assume that CI can be used as dynamic strategic for monitoring, analyzing and dissemination of information and knowledge creation to help these organizations to better anticipate and understand disruptive innovations. The telecommunications sector was chosen for the research since is a relevant and mature market highly influenced by disruptive innovations. Through a qualitative field research with exploratory and descriptive characteristics, semi-structured interviews were conducted with managers from the four main telecommunication companies of Brazil. The study tried to evaluate the relation between the use of IC by these organizations with the enhanced capacity to respond to disruptive innovations in their markets. The data collected in these interviews were analyzed using Content Analysis techniques. It was observed evidences that CI can help incumbents to better respond to disruptive innovations and six different categories help to explain this relation CAT1 (Value Proposition to the customers of the organizations); CAT2 (Key aspects of Innovation in the organizations); CAT3 (Obstacles for the adoption of Disruptive Innovations); CAT4 (Key aspects of Competitive Intelligence in the organizations); CAT5 (Use of the CI cycle to Disruptive Innovations); CAT6 (Reults of the use of CI for Disruptive Innovations). The results obtained may benefit academics and scholars in the field of CI and Innovation and also professionals from different industries that may be of can eventually be challenged by Disruptive Innovations.

Law 8.213 / 91 is a law that deals with the benefits of the General Social Security System, also known as Quota Law due to its article 93, which addresses the percentage of jobs that companies with 100 or more employees must reserve for people with disabilities or rehabilitated. The law was enacted in 1991, however the idea of quota began to be discussed after the meeting of the International Labour Organization, in 1983, which held the Convention n° 159. This meeting dealt with vocational rehabilitation and employment for people with disabilities. On the one hand the issue began to shed light on the right of beneficiaries to exercise professional activities, on the other, did not bring guarantees of its real effectiveness, since the paradigm changing of society`s vision on the subject did not accompany it. The law, because of the bad use one makes of it, besides not giving real guarantees to work for people with disabilities, is still negligent with the growing number of parasports athletes that began to show interest in becoming professional in what they like and they know to do. If in theory the possibility of being hired by companies as athletes is not denied to them, in practice this possibility does not seem to exist, since often labor inspectors do not allow this to occur. In this scenario, the present study aims to open spaces for soccer athletes with visual impairment, so they can show what they think about their professional work and what relationship they have with the mentioned law. So a series of statistical surveys was made in socio-economic, educational, socio-professional information, as well as professional aspirations and social responsibility. The study design, approved by the Ethics Committee in Research with Human Beings, is quantitative and was conducted in a sample of 32 male athletes. The instruments used were three: a brief interview to collect socio-demographic and socio-cultural information; semi-structured interviews on the following themes: a) relationship that the disabled person has with work; b) level of knowledge about the law 8.213 / 91 and its impact on the employability of people with disabilities; c) their aspirations within the sports and their professional lives. The main results show that a significant proportion of the B2/B3 soccer athletes with visual impairments in our sample aspired to become professionals in their sports. However, they also showed little or no knowledge of the Quota Law. It is concluded, from the data presented, that it is important and possible to meet the needs of the people in this research, to make a new regulation or, perhaps, to regulate the existing one.

Cities all over the world, go through a process of urban changing never seen before. Data from great developing population in cities, added with the urban exodus from rural areas, are the causes of swelling, and later, an explosive urban sprawlling caused in cities. In this process, the land appreciation in urban centers and tax incentives and the cheaper labor in neighboring towns, made that big industries change from urban centers, leaving the obsolete large areas. On the other hand, the cities, originally created for the celebration of life, and to celebrate what we have in common, today are draining energy resources, and the most polluting source of the planet. The new urban projects should consider this complex reality, then look for some contemporaries principles, such as sustainable urban development, productive restructuring, the environments of research and technological innovation and biotechnology. To do so, development agiencies have been created to conciliate the public and private interests. We explore the concept of compact city, in the light of contemporary urban projects in wastelands in central areas. To context, we selected some case studies, building an analytical inventory and always relating them to our context and reality.

This study has analyzed the service franchising enterprises evaluating factors that influence the survival rate of this population under the Organizational Ecology theory. The dynamics of the evolution process of this population was analyzed considering the density dependence model connected to legitimation and competition. Such factors, as well as size, were tested in statistic models (panel, logit and probit) using the data base developed with the information presented in the Guias da Associação Brasileira de Franquias between 1996 and 2007, to evaluate their impact over the population survival rate. Other relevant factors raised in Evolutionary Economics and Service Market Organization were also discussed.

The optical amplifier has improved the optical communication systems because they lead to an increase in transmission capacity of medium and long haul optical systems, with technological advantages over electronic regenerators. The optical amplifier are relatively simple to deploy and can be used in optical links without any troubles regarding signal transmission rate improvement and signal modulation changes, as a consequence of these issues they can substitute the electronic regenerator enhancing security with low operation cost. The CWDM systems multiplex optical wavelength with a low cost in metropolitan networks. It was developed to connect backbone networks to metro core and edge networks with cost saving over DWDM systems but lower transmission capacity. We have developed and characterized in our research a discrete Raman amplifier for operation in O band. We connected the amplifier in a point to point CWDM in order to analyze the gain on the system transmission capacity and the impairments that appears in the system. Working with a eight channel CWDM in O band, modulated with 2.5 Gbit/s, we have demonstrated that we can use a discrete Raman amplifier in single configurations, pre amplifier, booster and line amplifier and shared configuration with booster and pre amplifier to increase the transmission capacity that means, increase the length of the optical link. We have increased in 110% the length of the optical link with a shared configuration of two amplifiers with 10 dB gain for each one.
