Violence represents the crystallization of real voids produced due to the negligence of public policies, social and cultural inequality, poverty, unemployment, among other reasons. This phenomenon reaches everyone, equally, including the child, who may suffer several kinds of violence, such as sexual abuse. Facing this reality, one highlights that not only the victim, but also the family structure as a whole is affected by the consequence of such phenomenon. One aimed to understand the perception of mothers about sexual abuse suffered by their daughters. The institution where the study was conducted was a non-governmental organization in the city of Fortaleza – Ce – Brazil. A qualitative research was conducted, having as subjects 10 mothers of children who were victims of sexual abuse. The data were collected from February through March, 2007, obtained through semi-structured interview and recorded, for analysis and organization one used the collective subject’s discourse technique. One noticed that the CSD of the interviewees brings several feelings of mothers who had their daughters sexually abused, the first ones had feelings of powerlessness, guilt and suffering, living with an unrecoverable pain. One highlighted the fact that the violence is extremely functional, as it reaches its goal, destroys, marks and kills. Despair was present in some depositions, relating suicidal and homicidal ideas, especially on the part of the interviewee. One still observed that, after discovering the sexual abuse suffered by the child, the family’s destruction becomes clear. The phenomenon brings disastrous consequences, not saving even the elements creators of the family, the family destruction becomes stronger due to changes in the victim’s behavior, which varies between rebelliousness, low school grades, up till self-mutilation. One noticed that sexual abuse, not always is known by all the family members and the taboo around this illicit subject becomes a “wall of silence” from all the members, against the external world. It was possible to notice, in the speeches, the will to see the victims recover from the pain caused by the violence, for doing so, highlighting that the type of sexual abuse, relationship with the abuser, duration of abuse and resistance of the victim, are elements that interfere in the consequences and recovering. One observed, however, the existence of anxiety in removing the consequences left by the sexual abuse in the daughter’s life, the hope to soften, even “erase” all the pain, as well as changes in the behavior, showed by the daughter. After all, one highlights that due to the different feelings, these facts represent a reason to think about the urgency in creating a system of social support. One emphasizes the importance of professionals prepared to attend, directly and indirectly, the victims of child sexual abuse as well as the victim’s relatives.

The objective of this study is to identify the costs involved in managing water resourcesin Ceará, a role of responsibility of the Water Resources Management Company. After identifying these costs, some methods of settlement are discussed, identifying which is best suited to Ceará’s reality. Through cost sharing, we identify the appropriate allocation of these and apply a method of charging for water usage. In this valueare included the costs of operation, management, operation and infrastructure, the latter usually ignored in the methods used to calculate the value of the tariff to be charged. When learning about the infrastructure during this research, we found that there is more than a billion dollars invested in the state of Cearafocused on the management of water resources, not including the costs of thetransposition of São Francisco River. After the cost sharing method, the Average Tariff used by the Consortium Tahal - JP Environment was applied to calculate the Average Tariff by Industry in each section. As a result, we have that the tariff charged is currently below the rate needed to cover operation costs, administration, maintenance and infrastructure.

The use of mathematics games enables students to be in a proper enviroment for building and reelaborating learning, so helping out their development of cognitive structures to enable them to generelize conceptual information and turning, above all, the teacher a mediator of the process of organization and elaboration of mathematical ideas. This research has as main objective to investigate if the Mathematics Teacher Formation Course at Universidade Estadual do Ceará is preparing its undergradute students, prospective teachers, to the use of games in regular math classes. To collect data we carried out a study of the course syllabus matrix and the political pedagogical project, as well as a minicourse on how to use mathematics games to 23 students. The tools used were three questionaires, besides film footage and photographic recording. The outcomes show that the Teacher Formation Course does not prepare adequately its undergradute students, prospective mathematics teachers, on the use of games in class; the minicourse and the games used had a good level of acceptance by the participants. Final considerations highlight that the use of mathematics games can not be taken as an aim itself but as a pathway to promote significant learning.

White dross is a reject generated during aluminium production. It contains several oxides that can be useful to the refractories and cement industries. However, white dross can be hazardous both to human health and the environment. In this work, white dross was evaluated as a prospective raw material for the production of refractories. For this purpose, the dross was subjected to calcination followed by comminution and classification. In order to improve the mechanical properties of the refractory, two different kinds of electrofused particles were used separately as reinforcement: mullite and alumina. Particles of the TP-325 mullite were added to the white dross powder in proportions varying from 5 to 35% weight. The AL-L 280 alumina particles were added to another batch of refractories, in two different amounts (20 and 30% wt.). All materials were characterized by X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction, and thermogravimetric analysis. Mixtures of residual powder and particles were compression molded as prismatic bars under a pressure of 30 MPa. Pressed bars were sintered in air at 1400ºC for 2h, and the heating rate was 5ºC/min. Mechanical and physical properties of the sintered parts were determined by means of linear shrinkage, water absorption, apparent porosity, density, MOR (three-point bending) and SEM analysis. The results obtained in this work indicate that the mixtures of white dross and 15% mullite allowed for a better compaction and density, producing parts with higher mechanical strength than the mixtures with alumina. Pyrometric cone tests at 1400ºC show the refractoriness of the parts up to that temperature. Therefore, under the conditions of this research work, white dross with additions of mullite particles has proven to be a prospective candidate for the production of refractory parts.

Com o presente trabalho damos prosseguimento ao estudo da biologia da pesca do pargo, Lutjanus purpureus Poey, no nordeste brasileiro, visando observar as variações estacionais de determinadas características da população, tais como composição de tamanhos, razão sexual, reprodução e abundância relativa. O pargo continua sendo o segundo recurso pesqueiro, em importância econômica, capturado pelo sistema de pesca industrial no nordeste do Brasil. Durante o ano de 1972 a frota pesqueira, baseada em Fortaleza, capturou cerca de 1.510 toneladas desta espécie. Grande parte desta produção foi exportada sob a forma de filé congelado.
