Manual de relacionamento de magistrados com a imprensa

This study had the proposal the development of relationship manual between magistrates and the media. The main objective came from the practical experience in press office with the magistrates of the Tribunal Regional do Trabalho – PB (TRT-PB), where it were identified many difficulties and misunderstandings in the relationship with the media. From the discussion of a theoretical framework that includes journalism, language, Media Training, spokesperson and competences, it was possible to outline a multifaceted approach to build the manual. Regarding the research methodology, this work is defined as an exploratory research, qualitative and applied purpose, because it proposes solving an identified problem in a specific context, in this case, the relationship of the TRT judges with the media. The proposed manual was fully prepared, and thus, it is believed that it is an important instrument of knowledge, helping to build new competences for magistrates, and consequently represents a social contribution by providing improvements in the availability of information through of media communications.

O esporte amador em telejornais esportivos locais

Several changes impact the planet today. Globalization, while at the same time producing real deterritorializations and practically extinguishes the boundaries related to global communication, ends up reinforcing in people the feeling of connection to a certain place. In the midst of this process, the phenomenon of the mediatization expands the possibilities of communication and content sharing through tools settled primarily on the internet. In this context, there is a need to understand how it is the relationship of traditional media at a regional level (being the television, still, the media which has the greatest insertion in the masses) with the societies in which they are located. In this scenario, this thesis aims to analyze the content about amateur sport in sports TV news produced and displayed on broadcast television, in Campina Grande, Paraíba. They are: Globo Esporte, from TV Paraíba, an affiliate of TV Globo; Itararé Esportes, from TV Itararé, an affiliate of TV Cultura; and Super Esportes, from TV Borborema, SBT affiliate. The methodological procedure includes a literature review with regards to aspects of regional television, proximity journalism, sports television journalism, amateur sport and the relation amongst the sport praxis and the various systems (media, financial, cultural etc.) which surround societies. Furthermore, content analysis making it possible an immersion in the contents by classifying the collected material and a better understanding of the context in which the shows are. As data collection technique, interviews were conducted with the editors of the programs. As a result of the work, it was revealed that sports shows, in Campina Grande, give little space to amateur sport, whereas professional football receives a more focused coverage. Furthermore, the contents related to amateur sports praxis present different features in the studied shows. However, the coverage of events as the main source of content and little concern in advertising what is really local, what happens in Campina Grande, are features that deserve to be highlighted. In this regard, it is noticeable that the sports shows produced and shown in TV, in this city, are similar to other products found in traditional media, for they ensure, for various reasons, privileged space to certain actors and give little attention to groups that usually do not reach out to the traditional media, except in special cases.

Processos de Reconstrução Identitária do Telejornal Local da Globo em Tempos de Concorrência e Convergência Midiática: modos de dizer, interagir e circular do JPB 1ª edição

This paper aims at analyzing the renovation process of the identity of JPB 1st Edition of Globo TV. Taking into consideration that this local television news reformulates its identification strategies with viewers in order to overcome the unsatisfactory audience ratings. Concerning to understand this problem, we suppose as hypothesis that this news rebuilds its identity or identification modes with viewers / online surfers, particularly with the adoption of two main strategies: Developing ambiguous thematic organization and at the same time favoring numerically police matters in its editions and discursively being constructed as a television news turned to the "provision of services to communities"; mediated a propagation process by the presenter between his/her public and private life by appropriating of social networks as "propagator" spaces TV news identity conformers. Essentially, we work with the concepts of "society in media coverage pathways" with Fausto Neto; news media coverage with Salaverria and Aviles, Verón and Fausto Neto; Technological and cultural convergence with Jenkins and identity with Stuart Hall, Woodward, Silva and Bauman. We adopt the TV news analysis methodology developed by Itânia Gomes and we operate with two methodological concepts "television genre" and "addressing schemes". Assuming the "analytical operators" suggested by the author: mediator; communicative context; thematic organization and pacts on the role of journalism. It is created an operator named "circulation" to observe the processes of interaction between producers and Internet users in institutional profiles and anchor on Instagram and Facebook. In conclusion, JPB 1st Edition reconstructs its own identity with the materialization of a “self-reflective” speech and serious / ethical newscast, which addresses a variety of topics that interests community as a whole and adopts a fluid aesthetic, light, mediated and converging with the Web. It is distinguished from the local competitors, which are defined in the same profile - police newscasts, but JPB 1st Edition presents as a television news which has a "liquid identity", contemporary, constantly changing, adaptable to needs for which may suffer the "society in media coverage routes."

Midiatização, Convergência Tecnológica/Cultural e Jornalismo Colaborativo: A Construção e Edição das Notícias no Telejornal Local

This paper aims at investigating how digital technologies and TV spectators as contents producers affect the routines and the ways of news making at JPBI. We try to identify and understand the changes in the productive routines of this news bulletin with the aid of a conceptual dialogue among media phenomenon, convergence of media, ‘collaborative journalism’, ‘participative journalism’; use of mobile digital technologies and productive routines. To understand the scenery in which the productive routine is affected, the methodology of case study was used together with Ethnography, highlighting, however, that we do not intend to adopt the same accuracy in the description of the facts as Ethnography does. Qualitative data recollection techniques, like participative observation, semi-structured interviews and observation records or field diaries have been used in this work. It is assumed that the adoption of traditional processes of production, internet researches and commentaries sent spontaneously by viewers or stimulated by the production of the program, configure production routines. The JPBI’s production routines benefit from the collaboration of viewers as long as this process engenders a criterion of relevant noticeability to the profile of the service provider of this television news program, that is, ‘viewer’s visibility’; this process is guided by the producers and the mediators of JPBI based on patterns of a certain ‘contact zone’ with rules and regulations dictated by this program. As a way to meet the demands of a professional Master degree, more than a problematic analysis, what we also try to do is to prospect the mobile TV news JPB which was developed by the researcher during her study, with the intention of improving the practice of inclusion of the viewers in the processes of production of a “collaborative journalism”, that is, with a large and effective participation of the viewers in all stages of its production.

Convergência Jornalística: A Produção de Conteúdo no Núcleo Multiplataforma de Esportes da Rede Paraíba de Comunicação

Journalism, throughout the ages, has been transformed as they accompanied the social globalization, reaching the threshold of a new era characterized by rapid technological change, consumption habits of information and its application in journalistic products, work processes and plans media business groups. Consequently, communication networks are driven by these cultural changes and inducted to suit innovations that are characteristic of a process known as journalistic convergence. Despite the complex issues arising from the concept of the selected theme, and understanding the interdependence between technological, business and content changes, the aim of this study was to, based on extensive literature review and empirical observation, experience transmediatic speeches of production processes by means of developing a series of multi-platform and didactic stories, focused on students from Social Communication, that thematize the production of journalistic content of the Núcleo Integrado de Esportes da Rede Paraíba de Comunicação. Thus, it was sought to support the entire study necessary for conducting this product on existing concepts wich, nevertheless, allowed the author during the development of reports to get her own observations of journalistic convergence from an appropriate methodology, which facilitated the organization of each practice necessary for the development of the series of articles around the theme. Thus, during the research it was possible to conceptualize, understand and exemplify each stage of the journalistic convergence process, from polyfunctional journalist to the working methods and specific narratives. In addition, a conceptual approach from communication manuals of the three platforms addressed in the study and for which were produced reports - TV, web and printed - allowing so that the end result present a product where the implications of journalistic convergence are present, but respect the language of media and point out the processes and changes in the productive routines of professionals working in this area

Cartografia do JÁ sob a ótica dos gêneros jornalísticos: análise do diário paraibano e o debate sobre gêneros na atualidade

The newspapers turned to the popular classes are a reality across the country and, each year, are consolidating in the national and regional press. In Paraíba, only one newspaper follows the line of such news, the JÁ. These kind of daily are changing the design of sensationalism in order shoddy journalism, exaggerations and even untrue news. Our work drew a map of the JÁ in order to investigate the newspaper, from the contributions of journalistic genre studies, especially with the support of contributions proposed by Lia Seixas. Thus, it was possible to trace the journal profile from the analysis of the construction of your news, especially considering their connection with the categories of analysis proposed. We resume the debate on journalistic genres from the literature of José Marques de Melo, Lia Seixas, Manuel Chaparro, Francisco de Assis, among others. During the work, we discuss the concepts of popular journalism and sensational, the history of this kind of journalism, the criteria of newsworthiness and processes and production phases of sensational news. The methodology used was the content analysis and the proposed codification of genres from Lia Seixas of 12 issues in the week 11th to 16th May 2009, the first week of circulation of JÁ, and 24th to 29th March, 2014, an latest week during the analysis period, randomly chosen. The analytical approach was the editorial Cidades and Super Notas. From the analysis of 128 news, we could identify the building strategies of the news from the techniques and established practices of the current journalism.

Corporalidade dos Apresentadores Como Sujeito da Notícia na Sociedade “Dos Meios” e “Em Vias De Midiatização”: Cobertura dos Movimentos Sociais “Direta Já” e “Passe Livre” pelo Jornal Nacional

Analysis on the role of Jornal Nacional‟s news anchors in the coverage of the social movements „Diretas Já‟ and „Passe Livre‟. The main goal of this thesis is to analyze the importance of two social movements as examples of the influence of mediatization on political systems, as previously addressed by Fauto Neto (2008). The concept of „body‟ is used as the basis for our interpretations, according to Rosario (2002) and Santaella (2004). In this framework, body refers to something that transcends organic matter, and considers mind and body relations as communication and cultural phenomena. Such phenomena are influenced by a multitude of institutional and televisional resources, as well as idiossincratic elements, such as experience, competence, and emotions. The confluence of these elements with characteristics of the persona is explored within a journalistic framework. The basic premise is that news announcements follow a technical and discursive organizational process, which affects is affected by several factors, such as the editoral profile, understanding on the role of journalism, news type, technological expertise, and conceptions regarding the societies that are investigated herein. The news are considered as a social representation of reality, according to Alsina (1996). The Methodology of Analysis of Telejournalism, proposed by Gomes (2007), is adopted in this work, along with its concepts on the television genera and how they are addressed. „Analytic operators‟ are used, as indicated by the author, and these are considered as: mediator, communication context, and theme organization. In the coverage of the „Passe Livre‟ movement, news anchors in „Jornal Nacional‟ employ technical and discursive mechanisms to minimize the presence of social actors, as a strategy to preserve their roles as the main mediators of the news. These techniques as used despite the fact that these news announcers are inserted in an increasingly mediatizated society, in which the journalists tend to lose their power in communicating news.

As “Novas” Mídias e as Rotinas Produtivas dos Cadernos de Economia do Jornal da Paraíba e Correio da Paraíba

This dissertation proposes to study the productive routines and journalistic practices of nowadays in economics journalism, modified by technological innovations of recent years. The creation and popularization of the Internet, by itself, marked the twentieth century communication, shortening distances and expanding the journalist‟s universe, but the current phenomenon is the increasing number of new platforms, media and softwares available in the market. There are smartphones, tablets and apps, which, added to the wide range of possibilities that the internet provides, completely changed the language and practices of journalism. Aiming to analyze these issues, we study how, nowadays, the production of content works on the editorship of the Jornal da Paraíba and Correio da Paraíba, trying to understand the transformations which the journalistic production in this section has been submitted to in this new reality.

A travessia do analógico para o digital: as mudanças no processo de produção de notícias na TV Paraíba

For a few years now it has been taking place a an intense digitalization on Brazilian television, stimulated mainly by the implantation of digital TV in Brazil. Since the beginning of digital transmission in the country in 2007, TV stations began to worry about replacing analogical equipment, still part of the news production process and transmission, for the digital type. This shift from one technology to another brings technical changes to production routines and numerous possibilities of transformation in the way the news will be delivered. Amidst this scenario, producers of journalistic content grope in a transition full of uncertainties. This research was based on the experience at TV Paraíba, TV station affiliated to Rede Globo, in the city of Campina Grande, Paraíba, which completed its full digitization process in 2013. The study focuses on the changes in news production process caused by the gradual retirement of analogical technologies. We transform this study into a series of news reports for television so that this written text corresponds to the final report of the product. The recordings accompanied the shift from analogical to digital at TV Paraíba, including expectations, difficulties encountered, changes in routines and the attitude of journalists towards the new tools. In order for that to be accomplished, we combined journalistic and scientific techniques in a constructive experience. This final report describes the path taken to build the series of news reports, besides bringing an academic / bibliographic study on the theme.

As novas dinâmicas das rotinas produtivas nas revistas Trip e TPM e o uso das redes sociais na internet

Convergence is a process that causes changes in journalism, not only with the introduction of new electronic equipment, but also in the physical context of the writing and the productive routines. The technological age in which we live, marked by the speed and interactivity, changed the ways of producing and disseminating news, as well as in the forms of and consume and share them. The internet has attracted more and more followers and expanded around the world. Through it an avalanche of information comes to social actors that seek besides, and entertainment, a daily source of information on the news portals, aggregate sites of news organizations and even on the social networks. The integration of social networks in daily life and newspaper companies, caused behavioral changes and ended up turning the public, from viewer to co-producer, and creating new channels of reverb news, through the interaction of actors with newspaper companies and other actors. In this context the spread of social networking profiles such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, used as new platforms for dissemination and interaction, changed the magazine journalist everyday. Print publications have also been inserted in this context of convergence, which has created new forms of production and dissemination of content once only printed. In this scenario, the main objective of this dissertation is to analyze what were the changes caused by journalistic convergence, specifically, with the inclusion of social networks in day-to-day of the Trip and TPM magazines redaction, whose teams work seamlessly to both magazines in the media printed, digital and online. This is a study through literature review, data collection published on social networking profiles of magazines, productive routine analysis through the ethnographic method of participant observation and interviews. What enabled us to know and analyze this new production in which the magazines are inserted. During a search encounter hum process adaptations and changes Trip and TPM Magazines . use of social networks is part of them, where the public interacts directly with the journalist And work has a more fast, but the content published on these networks work , most of the time , only how marketing strategy . The internet has made magazines as were presented to hum new audience, so the number of followers of the social networking profiles he spent be greater than make a circulation of printed magazines. In addition, an essay integrated and platform working conditions created new labour and new challenges professionals.

Leitores especiais de jornais: um estudo sobre estratégias de acessibilidade de pessoas cegas ao webjornalismo paraibano

Based on the validation actions and skills aimed at inclusion of visually impaired people to information weighs up, through this work, accessibility, promoted by Paraiba journalism that potential reader. Throughout its history, the printed newspaper has been recording new news processes such as the Radio Journalism, TV journalism and now web journalism, which always leads to be rethinking new actions and practices to keep your audience and gain new readers. From this perspective, this study aimed to, conduct a study about web journalism in Paraíba, in order to understand the problems of accessibility of blind readers of newspapers, including aspects relating to the design of media coverage and journalistic language, based on theoretical contributions and practical techniques that involve production, circulation, distribution and reception of journalistic content. In principle a literature search was performed with selective reading and understanding of the key concepts involved in this study; then there was the application of a questionnaire to people involved in the production of web journalism and responsible for providing this content on the web (page developers, programmers and reporters); Later, an accessibility testing was done in the online versions of newspapers making sure the on specialized sites. Therefore, we used the validators that are automated tools and direct review, evaluating the web accessibility level, through research in the page code. The elements of the newspapers analyzed were: the text and the image, leading the print media work tools. Accessibility errors were identified as frequent and cross the two newspapers analyzed. Examples of the most common mistakes is highlighted links whose content is an image without alternative text and links with the same text, but different destinations. Some of these errors are obstacles to understanding the content, by people with disabilities, especially those who use assistive technologies, like the screen readers. This research is finalized with the application of an interview Focus Group involving voluntary participants, people with visual disabilities, representatives of a part of society that until the early 90s of the twentieth century, did not have any strategy for reading newspapers . In the focus group, it was observed that most of the reports collected included the internet as one of the most used communication vehicles, followed by radio in its traditional version and also the web radio.

Midiativismo e coberturas jornalísticas: mídias livres, movimentos em rede e estratégias de contrapoder

The society in mediatization ways is witnessing the construction of a heterogeneous communication scenario, in which information flows are increasing more and more with the aid of portable communications devices, mobile connections Wi-Fi 3G, 4G and other digital tools such as social networking sites, data transmission via streaming and collaborative platforms. Appropriating convergent and interactive potential of information and communication technologies, individuals star in new media practices and in this way re-tension power relations that cross the media ecosystem. Thus, journalism, which for decades has maintained its hegemony in the monopoly of speech, has some of its reformulated functions. Corporate journalism practices are under pressure of small media, we call micromedias. These, in turn, broaden the public debate with the inclusion of aesthetics, ethical, shapes and alternative discourses which sometimes dialogue, sometimes confronting the conventions of journalistic field. The street protests that have spread from 2013 in Brazil, following a global trend networked movements interconnected with technologies and face activism, provide visibility to the free media, which expanded the networks and streets with the proposal to provide alternative perspectives the big media, we call macromedia. So these media, that are cyberculture products and expressions of post-mass media activist, come to redirect information flows - and power - with its stance "do it yourself", producing information off of commercial interests and connected with media activism, at times is opposed to macromediatic power, at other times complements or is incorporated by its productions. The NINJA Media emerges from this scenario that combines cyber-face activism and provides bases for us to think the points of tension and connection between the free media practices and corporate journalism. Thus, our study is based on authors such as Malini and Antoun (2013), Castells (1999; 2013), Gohn (2011; 2013), Lemos (2001; 2007; 2010), Kellner (2001; 2006) and other researchers help us to think like the free media are interacting with the journalistic field and how, in fact, constitute spaces of dialogue, development, counter-strategies and mediation of conflicts between corporate journalism and free media productions. The research includes interviews and empirical references that act as illustrative cases of theoretical discussion, and have to analyze the confluences and conflicts between free media and corporate journalism that, in the light of the connection between social movements and digital technologies we can reflect on the tensions in the mediatizated society.

Da inserção à inclusão: um estudo sobre as políticas e práticas de gestão de pessoas voltadas às pessoas com deficiência em João Pessoa-PB

The main objective of this study is to analyze the configuration of the policies and practices of personnel management aimed at people with disability in João Pessoa-PB, with regard to their insertion and inclusion in the workplace. There was an effort to identify the perception of people with disability about the policies and practices of personnel management offered by the organizations where they work; to verify, from the perception of employees with disability, which inclusive policies and practices are adopted by the organizations; and to compare the perception of employees with and without disability on policies and Human Resources practices. The theoretical framework covers four sections: (a) people with disability and initial definitions; (b) the paradigms of people with disability; (c) the labor market, the perspectives and challenges for this population; and (d) policies and practices of personnel management focused on people with disability. In order to facilitate the achievement of the objectives, a descriptive quantitative survey has been carried out. The research was made with people with and without disability, working and living in João Pessoa-PB. In total, 90 people participated – 45 with a disability and 45 without. The questionnaire was administered face-to-face as well online, using Google Docs. Data analysis was made using the software SPSS, which was used for descriptive analysis, the factor analysis, the analysis of variance (ANOVA), the non-parametric test Kruskal- Wallis and the median. The results indicate that, in addition to being indifferent to the policies and practices of personnel management, people with disability do not see the applicability of these policies. Also, companies do not implement any inclusive policy. It was also observed that people with disability better notice the applicability of special policies and practices than people without disability. Only the construct Recognition has significant difference between the two groups. The results revealed that, despite the fact that the individuals with disability can perceive changes in the policies and practices developed for them in the organizations, those are still not sufficient to ensure that people with disability will be included in the job market.

Contribuições para o alcance dos objetivos organizacionais em instituição de ensino superior privada: desvendando a gestão dos coordenadores de curso

Organizations have been looking to ensure their survival in an increasingly demanding and competitive market; therefore, they need to expand their resources of work regarding information, knowledge and communication. Institutions of Higher Education – IHE also established organizations, need to work the knowledge management, need to define management processes and this role includes the course coordinator that articulates himself among students, teachers, staff and the company. The research aims to diagnose how the management of the under graduated courses in a Private Institution of Higher Education, held by its coordinators, contributes to the achievement of organizational goals. At the first stage, it is a bibliographic research by the need of theoretical background on the topic; a field survey was conducted afterwards. The studied population consists of 13 course coordinators of a private institution, the analyzed variables were measured by semi-structured questionnaire, composed of 45 objective questions related to personal information, professional, scenery of IES and developed functions. Course coordinators, aware of this initial personal contact, met the proposed schedule for data collection, according to their availability. The collected data was transported to a statistical program, the Statistical Package for Social Sciences - SPSS 20.0 IDM, being held descriptive statistics and inferential analysis according to the standard normality sample. The research was able to demonstrate to the proposed scenario, how important it is to have the leader of the course aware of his/her role in the organization, to define the desired profile for the coordinators and identify that some of them aren´t aligned with the organizational goals. It became evident the need for a clear definition of the processes, with the implementation of a uniform management system, apart from the need of specific training for the coordinators and secretaries of the course.

Gestão financeira e gestão acadêmica na (re) construção de projetos pedagógicos de cursos em uma instituição de ensino superior privada

The study is based on the the demands placed by the National System of Higher Education Evaluation of the need for close links between the financial management and academic management as a requirement for qualitative development of undergraduate courses in higher education institutions both public and private. The objective is to analyze the cost of the items of the Pedagogical Projects of the Health Area Courses, Humanities/Juridical and Engineering of FAINOR in order to subsidize a Financial Planning hinged to the Academic Planning Institution. It searches to joint elements between the administrative, academic and financial issues that need in-depth understanding, so that it can ensure the inseparability of the financial and academic management and will ensure the implementation and consolidation of undergraduate programs. The study was conducted at the Faculty Northeast Independent (FAINOR) Private institution of higher education located in southwestern Bahia and aimed to collect subsidies to develop joint strategic planning in the institution. For this descriptive abeam, we analyzed documents, as well as researches, in order to obtain greater knowledge on the subject and to develop a strategic plan, where the administrative, financial and academic areas could work jointly , in the development of improvement plans. Research has shown that the faculty represents more than 35% (on average) of the cost of a course and to introduce new courses, the largest investment are made in laboratories; We noted, for example, that for the Pharmacy course, the implementation cost is more than 80% of the initial investment. The investment needs of the courses are different , however , infrastructure, teaching materials , extension projects , qualifications of faculty and scientific initiative are issues inherent in all courses.

Algumas consequências da Supergravidade

Supersymmetry is a very useful tool for extending the Standard Model up to the grand unification scale, studying electoweak symmetry breaking and providing dark matter candidates. The presence of superpartners solves the problem of divergences, and changes the renormalization group equations in a way that allows gauge coupling unification. In a global supersymmetry the breaking scale is proportional to the vacuum energy, which makes it incompatible with the low value of the cosmological constant. Promoting SUSY to a local symmetry results in supergravity, which mandates existence of a spin-2 gravitational field, naturally integrates General Relativity and particle physics, and is required to adjust the potential and obtain a high breaking scale with low cosmological constant. This review work looks into models based on gravity-mediated supersymmetry breaking. These models allow a simpler hidden sector than their gauge-mediated or anomay-mediated counterparts. And the lightest supersymmetric particles, higgsino-like, could be detected once an electron-positron collider such as ILC is ready.

Cultura organizacional no contexto da expansão da rede federal de educação profissional, científica e tecnológica: um estudo com servidores técnico- administrativos

While considering an organizational culture point of view from the society over the civil servant and upon the expanding scenario of the Brazilian Professional Educational Scientific and Technological Network (EPCT), an opportunity to study such expansion and its relationship to the organizational culture set at the Federal Institute of Paraíba (IFPB) has risen. That said, the current paper aimed at analyzing the expansion effects on the Brazilian Professional Educational Scientific and Technological Network in the organizational culture under the perspective of civil servants of IFPB. It is a qualitative and quantitative study based on a case study with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through a semi open questionnaire which was sent to all the civil servants who attend the Rectory through the institutional e-mail and which was anonymously and voluntarily answered by using the electronic form Google Drive. The answers aimed at characterizing the civil servants’ profile, identifying satisfaction levels, their perception in relation to the organization culture and the expansion process set at IFPB and to verify whether the civil servants have influenced somehow the construction of a new institution of if they have been influenced by it. The results have pointed that the civil servants are fully satisfied with their work nor with the existing culture. The vast majority sees the IFPB’s EPCT expansion as positive and fruitful, however, they indicate that it has been poorly planned and disorganized, permeated by a hierarchy and bureaucratic organizational culture that has been crystalized in the institution. Another significant group see themselves as influencing a new culture at IFPB, despite the hindrances and barriers that they face on a daily basis. To sum up, the results have pointed to the need of new managerial practices that value the organizational culture that is centered on the human being as a vector of organizational change.

Quantização de Landau e efeitos associados para átomos ultrafrios do tipo tripod na presença de uma campo magnético artificial

In this thesis, we propose an experimental setup for the study of Landau quantization and associated effects in a two-dimensional ultracold atomic gas. Gauge fields can emerge in the equation of motion for the optically addressed ultracold atoms. To this end, spatially dependent dark states are necessary for the internal states of the atoms. A tripod level scheme yields two degenerate dark states which can leads to either an Abelian U(1) U(1) gauge field or a non-Abelian SU(2) gauge field. Using a suitable laser configuration, we obtain a uniform U(1) U(1) magnetic field which causes the atoms organize themselves in Landau levels. The strength of the effective magnetic field depends on the relative intensity of the lasers beams at the atomic cloud. We estimate the degeneracy of the energy levels for an atomic gas formed by atoms of 87Rb. In addition, we establish the experimental conditions to reach the lowest Landau level regime. In the zero-temperature limit, we realize the emergence of magnetic oscillations in the atomic energy and its derivative as function of the inverse of the effective magnetic field (de Haas van Alphen effect). The period of the de Haas van Alphen oscillation allow us to determine area of the Fermi circle for the atomic gas via an Onsager-like relation. We also show that detuning the a laser from the two-photon resonance we generate a parabolic scalar potential that laterally confines the atoms. As a consequence, the Landau levels degeneracy is removed, since the energy spectrum depends explicitly on the transverse atomic momentum. We show that the Landau levels presents a reminiscent degeneracy when the boundaries conditions are considered. The residual degeneracy occurs when different energy levels overlap. We map the residual degeneracy points as a function of the effective magnetic field. Finally, we present an experimental scheme for observing the spin Hall effect for ultracold atoms in a tripod configuration.

Estudo Teórico de bicamadas híbridas

In the present work, we use first principles calculation based on density functional theory, as implemented in the SIESTA code, to investigate the modifications in the electronic properties of hybrid bilayers composed of two monolayersof graphene with a nanodomain of B3N3, due to strain. The calculations were made with two different approximations for the exchangecorrelation functional, the Generalized Gradient Approximation (GGA) and Van der Waals Density Funcional (VDW-DF). Six types of configuration for the bilayers were made: three configurations with the stacking of the bilayer with the atoms of one layer on top of the atoms of the second layer (like h-BN) and three configurations with the stacking of the bilayer with the atom of one layer on top of the center of the hexagon of the second layer (like graphite). The three configurations for the two types of stacking are: AA, where the atoms of B and N stay on top atoms of B and N respectively, AB, where atoms of B and N stay on top of atoms of N and B respectively and AC, where atoms of B and N stay on top of atoms of C. The investigation of the structural stability of the nanostructures was based in the calculations of the formation energy, interaction energy and cohesive energy. The results shows that the structure with configuration 2 AA is more stable, and also conductive. We can observe that the two approximations used in the calculations show the same results for the electronic properties of all structures. The studies of the effects of the strain were made only in the structure that has shown itself as more stable. The role of the strain was made through the variation of the distance between the monolayers. Through these studies we can identify the distance between monolayers for which the structure is more stable. This distance has shown itself different for the two approximations. The opening of the energy gap due to strain was possible in the calculations using the GGA approximation, but the same did not happened in the calculations using the VDW-DF approximation.

Citral e geraniol: atividade antifúngica sobre leveduras do gênero Candida de importância hospitalar

Candidiasis is an opportunistic infection caused by Candida yeasts. In Brazil, the species C. tropicalis is the second most commonly isolated after C. albicans. Conventional fungal infection treatments are unsatisfactory because of the appearance of resistance and security issues and toxicity of commercially available antifungal drugs. Therefore, it has become essential to develop new drugs and alternative therapies for the treatment of candidiasis. In this context, antifungal compounds of natural origin, such as terpenes, have received much attention in recente times to be promising therapeutic tool for treatment fungal infections. Thus, it was investigated the antifungal activity of citral and geraniol monoterpenes on strains of C. albicans and C. tropicalis. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and the Minimum Fungicidal Concentration (MFC) were determined by the broth microdilution techniques. Also, it was investigated a possible products action on fungal cell wall (0.8 M sorbitol assay), cell membranes (ergosterol complexation), the time-kill curve, (log CFU/mL) and biological activity on the yeast’s micromorphology. Among the monoterpenes, geraniol was the most potent, as showed the lowest MIC value (16 µg/mL). As for citral, the MIC and MFC was 64 µg/mL for 15 of the 16 tested strains. In accordance with the MIC results, two strains of C. albicans (ATCC 76485 and ML-70) and C. tropicalis (ATCC 13803 and ML-118) were selected for further testing. The result of the possible mechanism of action showed no involvement with cell wall (identical CIM medium with and without addition of sorbitol) or binding to ergosterol (identical CIM medium with and without addition of ergosterol). In the morphological interference assay, it was observed that both citral and geraniol inhibited pseudohyphae and chlamydoconidia formation. It was also found that the monoterpenes have concentration-dependent antifungal activity. It follows, therefore, the citral and geraniol monoterpenes showed potential antifungal activity in vitro against the tested strains, denoting are promising antifungal agents with potential applicability in the treatment of infections caused by Candida yeasts, such as those that occur in the hospital. The probable mechanism of action does not involve the cell wall or binding ergosterol.
