Este artigo visa mostrar algumas relações que os Ticuna estabelecem entre “corpo” e “território”. Para tanto, parto da noção de na’ane, que podemos traduzir aproximadamente como cosmo/mundo/terra/roça. Este termo evoca ainda noções de tempo, mas principalmente mantém uma relação com o corpo ticuna, em especial, o corpo em formação. Tudo leva a crer que a cosmogonia ticuna remonta as fases de amadurecimento sexual dos corpos nos mitos e isso é reproduzido nos corpos das pessoas. O foco deste artigo serão as relações do chamado mundo ainda “verde” (do’ü) com o corpo das moças que passam pelo ritual de iniciação feminina, a Festa da Moça Nova. Nestas relações entre o corpo e o cosmo, alguns temas vêm à tona, como o incesto, o sangue, os cabelos, as periodicidades astronômicas e dos corpos das moças.

Este artigo propõe uma aproximação aos indígenas parque-xinguanos desde a cidade de Canarana (MT), município que compõe a porção sudeste do Parque Indígena do Xingu (PIX). Sediando as principais instituições de atendimento social, a FUNAI regional e diversas subsedes de organizações indígenas, Canarana é um município de referência para os indígenas do PIX. A cidade, espaço regido por uma lógica de Estado que insiste em reduzi-los à imagem do pobre, se faz cada dia mais um ambiente também indígena, desafiando a existência e a filosofia parque-xinguanas e dando origem a um momento absolutamente criativo da vida destas pessoas, de suas práticas filosóficas, de sua imaginação. Partindo de minhas experiências em Canarana entre os anos de 2014 e 2016, este trabalho explora duas diferentes imagens dos brancos da cidade formuladas pelos parque-xinguanos – o “peão” e o “chefe” – destacando as consequências da complexificação desta categoria para a teoria indígena das transformações no contexto urbano. Por fim, aborda os movimentos e expectativas indígenas quanto às suas relações na cidade e propõe uma reflexão sobre algumas das incongruências mais salientes entre a perspectiva parquexinguana e as formas com que o Estado pretende atualizar estas relações nas paisagens urbanas deste município.

This article is based on fieldwork in an old large property of cotton and of cattle in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. Public archives, former owners and former workers tell a story about the property in which is central the family that owns the land. Thus, when we think about the property, kinship ties of their owners are fundamental. At the same time, the dynamics of these relationships revolves around the land concentration. In this way, rather than a priori delimited entities, we note a mutually constitutive relationship between family and property, which questions the boundaries between “public sphere” and “private sphere”. The article proposes the family as a continuous process of production. Also it shows the specific forms that this process take, in which kinship and land concentration are indissoluble.

The texts published by anthropologists – books, articles, diaries – and the interpretations about this production created what is called by Annette B. Weiner anthropology’s “sacred places”, like the Trobriand Islands. However, little has been written about how people continue his life in these places after the anthropological fieldwork, nor what people think about the fieldworks that took place there creating the “sacred places”. This article presents some reflections about the relationship between doing anthropology, tourism, and reflexivity ellaborated after a visit to the Trobriand Islands in 2013.

Por que cotas na pós-graduação? Este texto enfrenta essa indagação apresentando uma descrição densa dos muitos trajetos burocráticos que a implementação de uma política de ações afirmativas mobiliza.Trata-se de um processo que acaba por produzir uma tensão quase que insustentável entre a temporalidade perdurável da burocracia versus os ventos necessários de mudança social que, nesse caso específico,  demandam a transformação das tecnologias para a produção da ciência e  para a abertura dos espaços reconhecidos de formulação dos saberes científicos.Para tanto, partimos da exposição do contexto e dos eventos referentes à formulação e tramitação de uma proposta de cotas no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Antropologia Social da Universidade de São Paulo (PPGAS/USP). Com isso, formulamos uma cartografia das políticas decotas nos Programas de Pós-Graduação em Antropologia no Brasil, bem como uma reflexão acerca do lugar das políticas afirmativas dentro da conjuntura geral da USP. Por fim, apresentamos uma posição mais  epistêmica acerca de como a abertura dos espaços de produção de  conhecimento é fundamental para produzir instâncias plurais e democráticas na composição dos saberes antropológicos.      

This article addresses Santo Daime’s diaspora and its musical dimensions. In order to do this, the authors establish parallels from the international expansion of capoeira, neo-Pentecostalism and afro-Brazilian religions. These parallels situate the transnationalization of Santo Daime within the broader movement of the diaspora of Brazilian religions and the Global South. Thereafter, the paper discusses the ritual role of music and daimistas’ religious hymns, which are considered sacred gifts and represent a cornerstone of the rituals. The article then describes and discusses how the hymns are sung, translated, and interpreted into different countries and contexts. It is argued that the hymns generate cohesion and transnational networks on the one hand, and reinterpretation and conflicts on the other. Em seus últimos anos de vida, Brassaï examinou a vida, o pensamento e a técnica narrativa de Marcel Proust como uma gigantesca fotografia, com alterações reveladoras de perspectiva, ângulos e enquadramento. Diante de uma bibliografia eclética reunida desde 1978 sobre a Morte e o Morrer onde os autores estão em constante busca do tom capaz de exprimir o não ser, retomei o episódio da morte da Avó, em A busca do tempo perdido, como exemplo de metáforas e alusões fotográficas para exprimir o inexprimível.

Com base na observação das práticas econômicas e cerimoniais desenvolvidas por um povo aruak da Amazônia meridional, os Enawene Nawe, o presente artigo propõe um modelo tentativo da organização do tempo e espaço sociais. Procuro argumentar que tais práticas devem ser entendidas em um contexto sócio-cosmológico mais amplo, que funda e organiza a sociabilidade.

Yurok perceptions of the body as the inscribed surface of social and environmental change are explored in this paper. To the violence and brutality of Spaniards, fur traders, gold miners, American soldiers, and Indian policies of the US government since the eighteenth century, Yurok women attribute the high incidence of degenerative diseases, drug abuse and criminality in northern California. The piece contemplates the lives of eight generations of sixteen Yurok extended families, mapping intergenerational shifts in Yurok social relations and political practices. It considers the mutation of knowledge in the constitution of the natural and social sciences and the effects of this knowledge when implemented in Yurok country. Here, Critical Medical Anthropology values the correlation between body and history in the works of Foucault (1977), Sahlins (1985, 1995), and Scheper-Hughes & Lock (1987). This historico-critical investigation shows how certain events mark their power and engrave memories on individuals’ bodies. It is within a hybrid set of cross-cultural and interdisciplinary practices that a more fruitful understanding of Yurok body imagery can be fashioned.

This article brings a reflections about the ethnographic method while encapsulating the identity theme describes by the anthropologist, in special, focusing the moral-ethic problem of the searching of the internal coherence of its ethnographic production through the study of the process of the anthropologic knowledge construction. It is to point, in this process, that is really in the play, or, the act of configuration and reconfiguration of time that stops the interpretative action in anthropology.

The present article intends to trace an outline of the field of fashion just as its constituted today in Brazil. The main reference utilized was the city of São Paulo. It presumes that the sense of fashion should be searched beyond of its convencional ways of presentation, as fashion shows and specialized magazines. It is in the relationship that consumers, creators and opinion formers have with the clothes and its constant renewal. The sense of fashion is in the fact that clothes mean something, and that meaning, besides differing in function to the researched group and its position inside the social structure, registers and guides different conducts for those several groups. There are four different interests (demands) involving the use of the clothes, and each one of them registers a particular sense for such, establishing different norms for the use, classification and judgement of value. In other words, different convictions of "what for" and "how" should be the correct or proper use of clothes and, therefore, the creation. It determines a conflict between the groups (consumers, creators and opinion formers) that, at the same time gives form to the field of fashion, it determines one own business dinamic: the securancy of its work and the increasing specialization of each part - creators and opinion formers - is in the impossibility of resolution of this conflict.
