The authors discuss the necessary interrelation between health and education whenever attitudes concerning the environment must be taken. They believe that such relations must surpass the . approaches essentially biologicals and reach the social, economic and political magnitude required nowadays.

The article is about violence shown on TV programs. The author points out ten different approaches for the problem. Among them the most important ones are: the influente of violent programs on TV viewers; the strategy of getting more viewers and publicity by means of violent themes; relationship between young people and criminality; the midia and its capacity to juge the crime and the criminal and the stigmatization of poverty and the city of Rio de Janeiro as violent.

The article tells about the different approaches - theoretical as well as methodological - of the researches related to moral and social impact of massive means of communication, specially television, on TV viewers. It gives a general idea of the intentions of each school, restates the complexity of factors concerning the relation emmission - reception and it recommends a careful caracterization of these influences. 

The authors accomplish a gathering of researches concerning the theme television and children. They point out the different theoretical approaches starting with the studies of the effects and uses and then observing the current problems of the procedures, strategies and mediations of reception.

The recent transmission by Globo station of the serial in 35 chapters O fim do mundo (The end of the world) written by Dias Gomes and Ferreira Gular leads to the discussion of the differences between the dramatic composition of a telenovela and a serial and alço the influence of the audience rates on the telenovela and its specific characteristics as a national cultural product.

Based upon the nomination for the Oscar of O Quatrilho, film by Fabio Barreto, the author tells about the recent story of the recovering of the national movie-making production bringing out the productions quality as well as the importance of communicating our culture (images, language, history, characters) to the public. 

Rosicler Martins Rodrigues tells about her personnal experience as an author of paradidactic books for students of elementary school. She deals with the importance of this kind of reading in disclosing science to make young people develop their skills as researchers.

The caricaturist Maringoni talks about the characteristics of the political caricature on the pages of important newspapers. He comments on the humor and the fragile perenity of this kind of 6 graphic editorialo on the national daily newspapers. He lists the most important caricaturists who worked for the Brazilian press, from Angelo Agostini to Chico Caruso. 

The Portuguese teacher proposes to 6th grade students to work with poetical texts in order to develop their creativeness, their capacity of reading and interpretation so that they will be able to produce their own texts.

The author discusses television as a formal and informal education vehicle, stressing its penetration in homes of different socioeconomic levels. She emphasizes the importance of our cultural identity when confronted with the values and with the variety of cultures transmitted by the media.  

This article points out the role played by media, mainly by television, as a new agent in the political process, even acting as a substitute for traditional institutions such as political parties. It analyses in what way this force takes action in the vacuum of a poorly organized civil society in which an anti-democratic communication system prevails.

The international programming offered by the big cable TV networks is of a very low quality and it costs almost nothing to the operators to the detriment of the real segmentation of Brazilian production and of a pluralist programming of higt quality. Just like the programming of open broadcast channels, the subscriber still doesn't have any control or fiscalization from civil society.

The new Act on Guidelines and Basis for Education - AGB - brings together Social Communication and Education, confirming the concern on giving the students on intelectual formation enough to provide them a critical independence in a world edited by the means of communication.

Through the results of the Research Project "Circulation of Texts in School", the author points out the importance of the non-didactic discourses, mainly those of the means of communication, and their penetration in the student's universe. It is therefore imperative to deal with it in the education institution. The author suggests that the teachers be acquainted with the available studies on critical interpretation of the information conveyed by media and receive orientation on how to work upon these new languages in the pedagogical space.

Propp. O antigo e o novo se diferenciam, no entanto, não só pela base tecnológica como também pela pausterização, com a exclusão de características regionais e peculiares às diferentes culturas. Mesmo assim, a escola não pode se furtar à linguagem dos videogames, nem menosprezar a influência que eles exercem no universo discursivo dos alunos.
