Soja em um vaso de flores: geopolítica dos alimentos e divisão sexual do trabalho na América Latina (1986-2015)

This thesis examines if the corporate food regime not only determines the technology, specialization patterns, and financialization of agriculture, but also exacerbates the sexual division of labor as part of the capitalist alienation strategy. A neo-Marxist theoretical framework was adopted to build a bridge between the global and domestic scales. At the global scale, the analysis of Food Regimes delves into the correlations between the territorial division of labor and capital accumulation; at the domestic scale, the social reproduction approach allows us to analyze both the mechanisms of capitalist appropriation of surplus value and the strategies of peasant families to remain in their territories. To discover the role of Latin America in this global arrangement, two cases were contrasted: floriculture in Colombia and soybean production in Brazil. These cases expose the logic of specialization within the geopolitics of food and introduce important reflections on the horizons of capitalist accumulation, food sovereignty, and gender; specifically, a contradictory and combined process of masculinization and feminization of the production of NTCs is evident in the region. These crops are associated with technological packages that determine specific combinations of capital and labor, which, in turn, are a geographic response to the international division of labor. Empirical evidence shows a positive correlation between mechanization and masculinization, with the soybean complex being one of the most striking examples; this masculinization of productive labor and consequent invisibilization of reproductive labor keeps the remuneration of the labor force artificially low. In contrast, the feminization of floriculture in Colombia reveals the mechanisms of exploitation of the most vulnerable population in labor-intensive agribusinesses.

A participação da família no acompanhamento de crianças atendidas em centro especializado de reabilitação

This work has as its central axis the discussion on the intervention centered on the family (ICF). The family is an important part of the child development process, as it promotes the child's basic care. When this child presents some alteration in their development, marked by a delay or with a diagnosis of developmental disorder, the care and involvement with this child has another impact on the family. Therefore, the importance of discussing the issue of family involvement in the rehabilitation process of their children under follow-up in a specialized health service. Since the involvement of parents is extremely important, especially in early childhood, when it is understood that early intervention centered on the family is essential. The objective of this study was to understand how the family participates in the monitoring of children at risk of developing or diagnosed with developmental disorders in a health service, as well as the experiences and feelings of families in this process. To this end, a qualitative research was carried out, under the epistemological perspective of social constructivism, in a Specialized Center for Physical and Intellectual Rehabilitation (CER II), located in the interior of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. Fifteen interviews were conducted, of which all family participants of children in early childhood development (0-6 years). As research instruments, semi-structured interviews were used, carried out individually with each participant, these were recorded in audio and later transcribed. The analysis took place through thematic content analysis. It should be noted that all ethical precepts were met in this research, obtaining approval from the Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. The study results were presented in two scientific articles. The first entitled "The family member's experience with the child who presents atypical development: impacts of the communication of the diagnosis and support network", which aimed to identify the perceptions and feelings of family members regarding the child, the communication of the diagnosis and the support network; the second article, “The perception of families regarding the therapeutic follow-up of children in a Specialized Rehabilitation Center” addressed the perception of families about the assistance and their participation in the rehabilitation process. Both showed how each family prepares the communication of a diagnosis, the daily challenges in the exercise of parenting, as well as the role played by the support network for each family. Finally, we understand the importance of discussions and reflections on this topic, expanding knowledge in the area. In this sense, new studies and the expansion of research on the subject are relevant, since few studies were found that specifically address the participation and involvement of the family when their child is receiving some therapeutic intervention, as well as the attention that is intended for a parental look directed to care.

Levantamento e identificação do patrimônio arquitetônico urbano de Ijuí construído entre os anos de 1890 e 1960

The present study focuses on the architectural heritage and defines a specific region of Rio Grande do Sul. Polarized by the current city of Ijuí, the researched area is located in the northwestern sector of this state, and its colonization began in 1878, through immigrants who reemigrarated from other colonies. Once Gaucha's architecture still is a subject of little study, Ijuí demonstrates to contain a valuable collection to be known and analyzed. Based upon a concept of space as a structure generated from the social, economic and political relation which are established, the primary objective of this study was to get to know the basics of urbanization of the city under study, identifying its architectural heritage with a view to rescue the urban memory by means of an inventory. When considering the studied period, we found that Brazilian architecture has developed in the middle of a complex cultural process and architects and Brazilian immigrants have always contributed to the disruption of established forms and styles. In a historical-cultural perspective, the preservation of cultural heritage ensures the continuity of history, preserving the customs and traditions, besides establishing bases in support of sustainable development policies. In this sense, Ijuí’s season buildings, most often inserted in the downtown area, eventually suffer great losses, in an urban environment that instantly, uncontrolled land speculation, converts the urban land in a more profitable goods, giving rise to new constructions. Considering that the heritage buildings is the element through which the cities are distinguished from each other physically, it is urgent to take conservation measures to protect the assets of equity as the old town and modern city are thought together, to ensure public participation in decision-making, so that the same build an identity with patrimony.

Saberes e representações em dança: um olhar acerca da formação docente nos anos iniciais do ensino fundamental

Through the research line of Formation, Knowledge and Professional Development of the PPGE/UFSM, it was realized the present study, of qualitative character, having as main objective to investigate the knowledge and representations of the beginning years teachers, about the subject Dance and relate it with their professional formation. The research was realized with a group of four teachers that teach in the beginning years of the fundamental teaching in a public school in Santa Maria – RS. The instrument to produce the information was a semi-structured interview about the thematic, with the speech analysis in the perspective of the Social Representations Theory. The participant teachers had different formations at college level, but only two of them had contact with the subject Dance at University. However, it was noted that their knowledge and representations about the dancing did not differ in a significant way from the other participants. This evidenced that the contact with the Dance at the University was not significant facing the knowledge and representations that come from the extra-professional field and from the teaching experience in the context which they were inserted. The participants defended the presence of specialist teachers to the beginning years of the fundamental school, referring to the Art of Physical Education, but there was no recognition of the Dance as an autonomous area. It was noted as well that some of them make use of Dancing in a spontaneous way, or in activities that are repetitions of the dances founded in media, mainly being used in scholar festivities. It was evidenced the knowledge and representations of Dance as leisure, influenced by the media, to women and as a way of expression, highlighting an utilitarian view of the teaching in the beginning years. Through the results, it was possible to conclude that the knowledge and the representations of the teachers identified about the Dance have direct influences over its realization in School. To make Dance possible and significant in the beginning years, it is necessary firstly to start with the teacher reality facing this subject. So, whether on beginning or continued formation courses, considering knowledge and representation in Dance, questions of cultural- historical origins that evolve it can stop being myths, proportioning to teachers reflections and debates, beyond experiences felt in their bodies, with the objective of reaching autonomy to deal with these subject.
