A Quarta Colônia, além de encantadora, é um campo fértil de temáticas para investigações, que vai muito além da paleontologia. Nesse sentido, muitas pesquisas a respeito dessa região são desenvolvidas, só que nem sempre os resultados dos trabalhos chegam a todos os interessados, como os moradores do território. E é exatamente isso que este livro propõe, apresentar e disponibilizar, por meio de 9 capítulos, resultados parciais e discussões de projetos que são desenvolvidos ou que tem como foco o território da Quarta Colônia.

O Catálogo de Murais UFSM: 1971-2021 foi organizado pela arquivista da Universidade, Cristina Strohschoen dos Santos, e lançado em 2021 pela PRE. A obra é resultado de uma pesquisa documental realizada no acervo de negativos fotográficos, no acervo documental e bibliográfico da universidade, apresentando um total de 33 murais.

Caçapava Geopark (Geoparque Caçapava, in Portuguese) is the name of the territory candidate to become a UNESCO Global Geopark. “Caçapava” is a strong name, in both pronunciation (/kɑ:sɑ:’pɑ:vɑ:/) and meaning. Some 2,000 years ago, the Pampean region of southernmost Brazil was inhabited by diverse P amp e a n i n d i g e n o u s p e o p l e s (belonging to the great Charrua ethnicity), adapted to open, grassland- dominated landscapes. Arriving from the northern forests of Amazon and Guairá, the guarani people, adapted to the jungle-dominated landscapes, invaded and conquered many territories neighboring the Pampa.

Quarta Colônia Geopark is the name of the Aspirant UNESCO Global Geopark. The name refers to the fourth center of Italian colonization in the center of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Beginning in 1877, it was a new wave of immigration in the same region in which the German immigrant population had settled since around 1855. A “promising land” in which thousands of European settlers placed their hopes and dreams, facing a dense subtropical forest, between the deep fault valleys carved by a broad drainage network on the slope of the Serra Geral mountain range, and which demarcates the southern border of the Brazilian Meridional Plateau (Planalto Meridional Brasileiro).

Com o apoio de suas instituições e de sua gestão municipal, com a participação ativa de sua comunidade, Caçapava do Sul uniu-se à Unipampa e à UFSM em uma estratégia de desenvolvimento equilibrado, sustentável, que se alicerça sobre três pilares: conservação da natureza e da paisagem; educação patrimonial e ambiental de qualidade; e geoturismo como motor de geração de trabalho e renda.

The digital revolution has impacted agriculture with the evolution to agriculture 4.0. Smart farms or smart farms implement the concept of integrated pest management (IPM) implementing innovation in the digital monitoring of the spatial variability of the crop using the internet of things (IoT), telemetry and big data for the collection, transfer, transformation, analysis, and application of the data in the field. There is a global increase in the use of pesticides and as the distribution of weeds, pests and diseases are not homogeneous in agricultural areas, in addition to causing productivity losses, spraying in a total area without proper monitoring and management can represent an increase in costs for the farmer. The objective of the study was to carry out a literature review in scientific articles from the main web bases between the years 2015 and 2021 and to make an economic analysis of four farms located in the Brazilian Savannah that use two 4.0 agriculture systems to monitor pests and weeds. for localized spraying of pesticides in the 2019/2020 harvest. The quantitative data of the applied area and the area where the application was saved were analyzed in an Excel spreadsheet to measure the descriptive statistics of reduction in the sprayed area, pesticide, and water savings in the spraying of first crop soybean, cotton and second crop corn, analyzing the economic viability of investments through payback, Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and Benefit-Cost (B/C) calculations. The study offers benefits in understanding a new technology applied in practice in order to verify its economic performance. Analyzing the areas where it was possible to apply the technologies for localized spraying of pesticides, the distribution of pests and weeds with characteristics of spatial variability is identified. In this context, the hypotheses of the study were supported by the economic benefits of both systems, with the characteristic of heterogeneous distribution being an essential requirement for the localized application of pesticides without loss of productivity caused by damage or competition with crops. In the case of a high rate of infestation of pests and weeds in each plot, the risk of damage to the crop does not allow for the spraying to be carried out in a localized way, for this reason the application is carried out in the total area.

The present study is linked to the Research Line Pedagogical Management and Educational Contexts, of the Graduate Program in Public Policies and Educational Management at the Federal University of Santa Maria - UFSM, and emerged from the experiences and observations made throughout academic life. and professional performance. In this way, the question that guided this research was: how are the pedagogical practices of teachers from a kindergarten school in the city of Cachoeira do Sul/RS organized to ensure the inclusion and learning of children who are the target audience of Special Education? In this perspective, the general objective was to investigate the pedagogical practices of teachers of an Early Childhood Education school in the city of Cachoeira do Sul/RS, with regard to the process of inclusion and learning of children who are the target audience of Special Education. The specific objectives were: a) To identify the conceptions of teachers and school management regarding the process of inclusion in early childhood education; b) Diagnose the challenges faced by teachers during the process of inclusion in Early Childhood Education classes; c) Analyze the organization of teachers' pedagogical plans and practices for inclusion; d) Analyze the actions developed by school management in order to contribute to the pedagogical practices of teachers; e) Produce a diagram of the flow of actions for the promotion of inclusive education. This research followed a qualitative approach, of the case study type, as it used a single school institution as a basis. Data collection was performed through a semi-structured narrative interview with eight subjects. Data analysis was developed in the Content Analysis proposal, organizing the most relevant aspects for the constitution of this research, from the content categorization.Thus, three categories emerged: “The process of inclusion in Early Childhood Education: conceptions of teachers and management team”; “'Pedagogical practices in Early Childhood Education: planning and methodological strategies”; “Challenges encountered by teachers and management team during the inclusion process”.The resulting product of this investigation took place through a diagramming of the flow of actions of a school for the promotion of Inclusive Education, designed and structured to serve as a model, covering the basic paths and pedagogical paths that a proposal of inclusive education needs in school.

Taxi is a well-established service and allows the customer to take advantage of the mobility service without being directly encumbered by vehicle related costs. The service provider is responsible for vehicle maintenance, payment of fuel, taxes, fines, etc. The service request can be carried out mainly through smartphones applications, where the customer selects desired options, including the payment method. The taxi-customer assignment is typically made by a central, using distance as a criterion. Therefore, taxi drivers who are closer to customers or who are at the most popular taxi stands earn more than those who do not have access to these facilities. This creates an imbalance between the earnings of taxi drivers. Customer-taxi assignment strategies seek time efficiency and agility in serving customers. In this work, in contrast, the different assignament strategies are evaluated seeking the taxi driver’s point of view. For this study, a taxi service with a standardized fleet of vehicles is considered. Given demand and costs, a simulation is proposed to detail and evaluate the balance between taxi drivers’ revenue with regard to different customer-taxi assignament strategies. The results show that ride-sharing strategies can be beneficial both for customers, with shorter waiting times, and for taxi drivers, with greater profit equality.
