The atrical scribblings in babies' gestures: a Bakhtinian study

This article presents some bakthinian ideas about the constitution of language, especially the gesture, coupled with the communicative experiences that babies can experience in educational spaces, with an emphasis on theatrical games. Two episodes are presented in which the babies express, through the gestures, some of the innate possibilities of the theatrical language present in the infantile context, either through the discoveries realized from the movement of the own body and the effects that this produces in contact with the light, either through the manipulation of materials and / or toys in a make-believe play. They are playful moments, of games and discoveries that allow the development of theatrical scrawl, that is, the first theatrical expressions of the babies.

The Decolonial Narrator: A Reading of The Distant Marvels, by Chantel Acevedo

In “The Storyteller: Reflections on the Work of Nicolai Lescov” (1987a), Walter Benjamin understands that the art of storytelling is about to become extinct once the storyteller, that one who gets his/her full corporeality when reunites the knowledge of the resident master craftsman and the traveling journeyman, seems to be no longer among us. However, when taking into consideration Maria Lugones (2014a) understandings of the decolonial, that it inhabits a non modern space, it is possible to admit the presence of the Benjaminian narrator, sometimes in the novel, genre that the he understood as a symptom of a process whose end is the death of the storytelling. In the novel The Distant Marvels (2015), the CubanAmerican author Chantel Acevedo creates a protagonist who is a literary representation of a narrator that incorporates the Benjaminian characteristics and, therefore, is competent in transmitting experience. The following article intends to verify how a decolonial reading of the aforementioned novel may contribute to the work of developing new epistemologies.

Latin American Indigenous and Afro-Descendant Communicators: Sorority and Identities

This article will relate mobilizations and narratives of indigenous communicators under the eyes of decolonial feminism. It focuses on how the communicative actions of indigenous women in Mexico and Central America help their political participation to intertwine with efforts to realize human rights. With the methodological cross-referencing of local sources and theoretical perspectives, it is intended to demonstrate that the use of hypermedia by Latin American women and in the wide dissemination in various social networks has been important for feeding mechanisms to build a space for mobilization Social and political. And for them, living and learning with the emancipatory decolonial feminism: that acts beyond the hegemonic and consonant with localities and collective desires. In addition, it is intended to discuss the relevance of meetings of communicators for the exchange of experiences for the reaffirmation of their identities, intersected in their affinities.

Justification, probability and independence

Epistemic justification has been widely accepted as both a gradational and relational notion. Given those properties, a natural thought is to take degrees of epistemic justification to be probabilities. In this paper, we present a simple Bayesian framework for justification. In the first part, after putting the model in an evidentialist form, we distinguish different senses of “being evidence for” and “confirming”. Next, we argue that this conception should accommodate the two relevant kinds of qualitative confirmation or evidential support. In the second part of the paper, we discuss the claim that this view is unable to satisfy the modified version of the conjunction closure for beliefs in probabilistically independent propositions. We defend that the underlying assumption on which this objection depends leads to an improper reading of the concept of epistemic probability. After providing a better interpretation of it, we put forward a rationale, which is based on the notion of conditional uncertainty, in support of a more plausible and restricted version of the closure of justification under conjunction.

Relativistic fatalism

In this article, I will argue that the argument for fatalism based on the relativity of simultaneity (RoS) fails. The original proponents of the argument (Rietdijk 1966, Putnam 1967 and Penrose 1989) called the thesis in terms of ‘determinism’, but Levin (Levin 2007) refers to it as ‘relativistic fatalism’. Relativistic fatalism is a view supported by the alleged dependence of the property of being future on an arbitrary choice of some coordinate system. First I will try to explain the classic argument, attributed to it a dialectic that justified to call it in the same terms as Levin did. Subsequently, I will refuse the relativistic fatalism using many strategies to deal with it.

Bioactivity of essential oils on the germination and vigor of tomato seeds

Allelopathy is the effect of one plant on another through the production of chemical compounds that are released into the environment. Therefore, the objective of this study was to identify the allelopathic effects of volatile extracts of essential oils of shell ginger (Alpinia zerumbet (Pers.) B. L. Burtt. & R. M. Sm.), guava (Psidium guajava L.) and neem (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) on the germination and root length of tomato seedlings. The oils were extracted from the leaves of adult plants by steam distillation. Five concentrations of each oil were used (0.0; 0.25; 0.50; 0.75; and 1.0%, v/v) in a completely randomized design with four replicates of 25 seeds. For the germination test parameters, the following were evaluated: percentage of germination (G%) and germination speed index (GSI). For initial growth, the length of the radicle and the length of the aerial part were evaluated. The oil of shell ginger inhibited germination at a concentration of 1%, as well as reduced the GSI, and the 0.75% and 1% concentrations totally inhibited root length and the length of the aerial part. For the guava oil, there was a reduction in germination as the concentration increased.

Cannabis sativa and pregnancy: a review

Cannabis sativa or marijuana is the most commonly used drug during pregnancy. Pregnancy is a period in which considerable physiological changes occur in the mother, and consequently, the fetus can be directly affected. Marijuana contains a range of medicinal or psychoactive components, the cannabinoids. The best known cannabinoid is tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC), a psychoactive drug capable of crossing the placental barrier and reaching the developing fetus. Chronic use of C. sativa in pregnancy may result in decreased uteroplacental perfusion, intrauterine growth restriction and behavioral disorders. Cannabinoids may cause some disorders in reproductive organs in users, which can harm the fetus. In one study, 4,000 pregnant women who used marijuana showed an increase in the incidence of pregnancy loss and low weight and small size for gestational age. In addition to low birth weight, the drug increases the risk of complications during childbirth and late cognitive development in infants. Many controversies revolve around the topic of C. sativa and its effects on human health, making it necessary to include the discussion of public policies on the release of the drug taking into account scientific evidence.

The Meaning of Work for Funeral Director

The aim of this article is to investigate the meaning of work for funeral director. This is a descriptive and qualitative study. The data were collected through interviews with semi-structured script and analyzed through lexical analysis and content. It is observed that, despite the difficulties and limitations of his professional performance, the funeral director finds meaning in their work, mainly through the valuation and recognition of his service by customers. This research contributes to studies on the meaning of work, especially with socially devalued professionals who are considered "dirty", in addition to expanding the discussion about the importance of work for individuals that, despite having no pleasure in performing their activities, seek to perform well due to other elements. New categories are proposed for complementing the theme, such as satisfaction and preconception.

The undervaluation of the continuous formation of teachers: from the advisors to the articulation of the theoretical framework in the context of the national professional master in physics teaching

The National Professional Master in Physics Teaching (NPMPT) emerged as a Network Professional Master, focused much more on Physics content than on pedagogical and/or epistemological background. In the light of Bakhtin's thought, we envisage more than 200 works completed up until the middle of 2017 as a set of statements whose verbal and non-verbal aspects express different voices, responding and directing themselves to other utterances. The analysis was done by means of a mixed method integrating the Bakhtin’s analytical device, proposed by Veneu et al. (2015), to correspondence analysis (GREENACRE, 2017). When analyzing 208 works presented in the context of the NPMPT, we found that the articulation of the theoretical framework in the developed product is dependent on the formation and the research history of the advisors, and that work oriented by supervisors with formation or research history in the area deviates from the program general guidelines.

Medicinal plants toy-book: A science and Literacy educational proposal – portuguese language in the first grade of elementary school

The research aims at building an educative playful material in alphabetic form and parody format, the medicinal plants´ ABC, in addition to that was created a playbook in order to promote science teaching, to complement the literacy process in students of 1st grade in a state elementary school, Japeri, Rio de Janeiro. Furthermore, it´s a qualitative case study, the tools used to collect the data were: participants’ observation and individual interview. The materials were built from students’ previous background knowledge and their preferences, taking into account the popular lore, therefore the material would be more appealing to its users. Lastly, we also created a material in which we believe might be thought provoking to teaching, mainly for those who teach basic levels, considering the possibilities of teaching scientific knowledge and literacy.

The topography of the online classroom: reflections from a experience of the research-training with science teachers

The subject "Physics subjects in research-teacher training" was offered online in the second semester of 2017, in the Postgraduate Programs (PPG) in Science Education and Physics Teaching at the Federal University of Rio Grande. In addition to the students of these PPGs, students and professors of the Licentiate Physics courses of the Federal University of Pampa and the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL) participated as well as students of the PPG in Science and Mathematics Teaching at UFAL. This experience brought together 18 subjects who composed groups and explored subjects of Physics from the perspective of research-training. Given the profile of the subjects and the proposed construction of an interactive classroom, the following research problem emerged: What is the topography of the classroom built from online interactions in the context of research-training? It is a qualitative investigation, classified as an interaction study through written data. As an analysis resource, the mapping of subjects' interactions was performed. Among the modules that composed this discipline, only module 5 was titled "The cordel in the teaching of Physics". The choice was justified by the fact that it contained the forum with the greatest number of interactions. In this research movement, we analyze its didactic design, didactic material, online teaching and the topography of the classroom constituted from the interactions of the subjects. As a result we find that although the interventions that occupied the student position indicate mostly all-all communication , of the didactic design supported by the flexibility and interactivity of cyberspace, as well as the didactic material was produced in a dialogic, multimedia and hypertextual way, the interventions of the subjects that occupied the teaching position ended up centralizing the interactions, resulting in an intermediate topography between the traditional classroom and the interactive classroom.

Social Work and management: Conflicting opportunity

This article questions the subjective construction that emerges in the conflicting relationship between Social Work and social policy management. The study analyzes the discourse following the perspective of Potter and Wetherell, using as references interviews applied in a research project developed between 2016 and 2017. The results demonstrate a discourse of entrepreneurship around the field of Social Work, which, after the recovery of the university level that occurred in Chile in 2005, emphasize the traditions of the profession before the mandates established by the New Public Management (NPM), forging cultural and work conflicts.

Diet of Artibeus lituratus (Olfers, 1818) (Mammalia, Chiroptera) in an urban forest fragment in Londrina, Paraná, Brazil

Bats are known for their importance in regulating ecosystems, where they are involved in pollination and seed dispersal. Species of phytophagous bats such as Artibeus lituratus often occupy altered areas or even urban regions. The aim of this study was to investigate the diet of A. lituratus on the campus of the State University of Londrina, in a forest fragment with high anthropogenic influence. Four monthly collections were carried out between October 2012 and September 2013 using four mist nets per night. The animals were identified in the field and placed in cotton bags for half an hour to obtain fecal samples for diet analysis. A total of 86 individuals were collected, which provided 42 fecal samples. The results indicated that the diet of A. lituratus is composed mainly of Cecropiaceae and Moraceae fruits. The trophic niche breadth (B’) was higher in March, August and September 2013, but there were no significant differences in diet between the seasons (H = 0.3002, p = 0.96). The preference for pioneer species in the diet of A. lituratus may be indicative of their important role in the restoration of forest fragments, even in urban environments.
