Historical-didactic approach for the teaching of the Electroweak Theory using computational simulations of historical experiments

This research presents a didactic proposal for Higher Education, focused on the discussion of Modern and Contemporary Physics, which includes the approach of the Electroweak Theory through a historical composition of this theory and computational simulations of the historical experiments that contributed in the process of unification of the electromagnetic and weak interactions. This proposal was elaborated with theoretical and methodological bases from the principles of historical didactics approaches, the theory of Meaningful Learning, Didactics of Sciences and Didactical Units. The analysis of questionnaires and Gowin’s diagrams, used to evaluate the effectiveness the didactic proposal, presents positive evidences on students' learning with regard to scientific content and in relation to the Nature of Science.

Criminological Feminisms and Technopolitics: New Frames for Gender Based Violence

This article is based on some questions that seek to rethink the debates of ‘feminist criminology’ in Brazil and propose creative formulations to think about other forms of coping with gender violence, including shared social movements that use technological resources such as strategies of resistance. It is proposed to use hashtags as feminist tools of analysis to understand the phenomena of localized violence. In order to do so, it will use the hashtags #meuprimeiroassedio, #chegadefiufiu, and #mysecretfriend to analyze new meanings of justice promoted by the feminist movements, which apparently do not prioritize the use of punitive power. In the same way, one seeks from the #EleNão movement, recognized as feminist democratic technopolitics, to reformulate the possibilities of analyzing the criminological field and confronting gender violence from a micro and macro political perspective.

Markets on the edge: Beach kiosk TripAdvisor consumer online reviews as dataset to compare Australian and Brazilian beachfront collective representations

Consumer online reviews are written by amateurs, are published very fast, and are freely accessible by anyone having internet access, bringing analytical challenges to the Social Sciences. In this exploratory paper, we compare Australian and Brazilian beach kiosk TripAdvisor Written Reviews (TWRs) and argue that they are a useful source to perceive differences in beachfront collective representations. We also argue that to better understand the socio-logics of beachfront collective representations, the content analysis of TWRs alone can be limited; therefore, we draw on other qualitative methods, such as document analysis and field observation. By combining such methods, we conclude that Australian and Brazilian beachfront collective representations differ in categories of time and space. Understanding beachfront collective representations of different countries can bring consistent knowledge to help politicians tackle current coastal challenges, especially the balance between commercial development and natural conservation of the beachfront.

Effects of urbanization on habitat characteristics: what are the responses of habitat alteration on functional feeding groups of aquatic invertebrates?

Urbanization causes many changes in stream communities and rivers usually suffer major structural modifications under intense urban occupation. The goal of this study was to investigate the effects of urbanization on physicochemical habitat characteristics and evaluate the responses of urbanization on functional feeding groups (FFGs) of invertebrates. Water quality parameters (temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, pH, phosphorus, chlorophyll-a, turbidity and organic matter) and flow parameters were measured in least and severely urbanized areas. FFGs of macroinvertebrates were analyzed and applied as surrogates of ecosystem attributes. The differences in the macroinvertebrate community of the least and severely urbanized areas were assessed using non-metric multidimensional scaling (nMDS) and a permutational multivariate analysis of variance (Permanova). Differences between the least and severely urbanized areas were observed with nMDS. The Permanova also showed a significant difference between the nMDS groups. The least urbanized areas presented greater richness for each FFG. On the other hand, severely urbanized areas presented a major abundance of gathering collectors and predators. Thus, the composition of FFGs responded to habitat alterations that were represented by water quality and the flow parameters.

A genealogy of the critical discourses on the authoritarianism of the Brazilian Criminal Procedure Code

This paper presents an investigation on the critical discourses thatattribute the authoritarianism of the Brazilian criminal procedure to a legacy ofthe fascist Italian criminal procedural legislation of 1930. At first, it reveals theimpossibility of this comparison by the lack of sources for verifying if there wasindeed the influence of Italian fascist law in the Brazilian Criminal Procedure Codeof 1941. Then, it is analyzed how this critical discourse diffuses among Braziliancriminal procedural law scholars from the 1990’s, due to their networks of academicand professional contacts, establishing a rupture with previous criticisms. Finally, the research aims to demonstrate how this approach between the Brazilian Codeand the Rocco Code was artificial and prevents Brazilian criminal procedurallaw scholars from realizing the influences of other foreign laws in legislation andcurrent judicial practices and prevents them from creating strategies to ensurethe implementation of constitutional guarantees in these new procedural forms.

The inconfidence and insubordination of Tantalus and its reverberations in the politial body

This article proposes to relate the trajectory and tragedy of the Greek myth Tantalus to the historical conjunctures, emphasizing the prominent role of the body in the construction of the society. It feeds on philosophical references, especially from Friedrich Nietzsche and Arthur Schopenhauer and from literary works by Franz Kafka and Augusto dos Anjos, in order to establish a look at the body as a reflexive instrument and, therefore, a hostage to the corporal and psychological barbarism in history.

Training for citizenship and science teaching: thougts from supervised training
