The comprehension and legitimization of brazilian digital literature: the case of texto digital magazine

The Magazine Texto Digital is a biannual journal, maintained by NUPILL (Center for Research in Informatics, Literature and Linguistics) and headquartered at Federal University of Santa Catarina, which dedicates itself to discussions concerning the relationship between art and informatics since its foundation, in 2004. The Magazine, in addition to publishing articles and essays of a theoretical-critical nature on the subjects covered by its scope, also publishes, since 2006, “digital creations”, gathered in each publication in a homonymous section. This article aims to discuss this section, which, since 2006, has been devoted to the publication of works that articulate artistic language and computational language. We are interested, above all, in mapping digital literature that has been published in this section, in order to think over the role of the magazine as means of circulation and legitimization of an emerging and experimental literary production.

Critical report of a didactic experience about an applied scientific theme in basic education: some epistemological reflections and the defense of a science teaching based on dialogic argumentation

This work has as main objective to make a critical report and to propose epistemological reflections on the use of the methodology of teaching by argumentation in an activity of dissemination of a scientific theme developed in the discipline of Physics in a high school class of a state public school of education of Porto Alegre (RS). This activity, developed in the form of a simulated jury, was conceived and elaborated to be applied in the form of a micromodule of teaching in which we assume that it is possible, through this pedagogical resource, to reach a level of learning appropriate to this age group, through the critical debate and the dialogical argumentation. Therefore, we seek to offer elements for students to engage in such a strategy in the classroom environment and develop argumentative skills. The theoretical-methodological references used in this research are that of teaching by argument and also that of an epistemology that develops intellectual virtues and critical thinking in the student. What is wanted in this work, which is part of a more comprehensive investigation, is to do through the critical report of the case study a defense of these referential potentials for the promotion of a more autonomous and reflexive scientific education.

The Pitfalls of Motherhood Culpability

The structural similarities arising out of the effects of mimetic isomorphism on postgraduate programs in Administration

This study aimed to identify the presence of mimetic isomorphism from the structural similarities of the curricula of the Postgraduate Programs in Administration-PPGA, and if the mimicry contributes to a similar performance in the CAPES ranking. Methodologically, we used descriptive statistics and cluster analysis with the Co-plot technique as a data presentation and analysis procedure. As a result, we identified four groups of PPGAs and the structural similarity between them. We also noticed that the formation of clusters, the identification of a high level of similarity among the programs, and the partial acceptance that belonging to a given group can be reflected in the performance of PPGP. We conclude that the differentiated posture of each observed group of each isomorphic group does not mean performance similar to all the components. Therefore, we argue that it is not evident to obtain the same results from the mirroring of structures and procedures of the reference organizations.

School-Museum Relationship: School Influences in the Museum Approaches

Science Museums are considered educational spaces with particularities that connect their perspectives to public policies of diffusion and popularization of sciences. But in countries like Brazil, where the culture of visitation to Museums of Sciences is not very strong, there is a great concentration of visitors belonging to the group of teachers and students of basic education, making the contact with general public difficult. This fact has attracted the attention of some researchers and favored the consolidation of studies and researches focusing on the Museum-School relation. In this article we present the results of a research that aimed to investigate the Museum-School relation taking into account the influence that the school public may exert in the museum activities. The qualitative research was based on the hypothesis of a possible process of schooling of the museums and, by means of semi-structured interviews directed to the coordinators and monitors of the mentioned spaces, it was applied to the context of the Living Museum of Science and the Energy Space in Campina Grande. The research intended to identify characteristic traces of this influence and, at the same time, to discuss the implications that this process may have in those educational spaces. The results pointed out that the presence of a mainly school public in museums changes the speeches of the monitors and coordinators so that the Museums of Sciences, theoretically oriented to attract a general public and dialogue with it, ends up adapting their behavior, practices and the structure of operation to formal education systems.

Representations of schools on physical education classes: exploratory study

The present work had as objective to identify, through the opinion of the schoolchildren of an eighth grade class, of a state public school in the city of Niterói, whether / how / why the curriculum component Physical Education has left, over time, gaps about their learning. It is an exploratory, descriptive and interpretative study, supported by the theoretical framework of Social Representations that used a mixed approach (quantitative and qualitative) to interpret the data obtained through a semi-open questionnaire. The results give us indications that the absence of Physical Education in the initial years of Elementary Education may have contributed to the lack of interest of these students, as well as the lack of plurality of contents of the body culture of the movement.

Professionalism and trust: the curious case of a country that believes in journalists more than in the media

The article reflects on the disparity between declining indexes of trust in journalistic media and the stable rates (in a high level) of credibility in journalists in Brazil. The study retrieves secondary data from different sources on journalistic media confidence in Brazil between 1998 and 2018, indicating deterioration of trust, and recent research showing that journalist’s credibility as professionals remains above average. In order to understand the reasons for this detachment, we use results from a survey (N = 543) and in-depth interviews (N = 44), parts of a multidimensional research regarding local news media developed in the city of Joinville/SC between 2017 and 2018. The article supports the hypothesis that Brazilian society has developed a justified suspicion regarding interests and actions of journalistic media owners, which subsists in parallel to a recognition of journalists as experts who strive to develop their functions and serve public interest.

Private counseling and medicalization of physical activity in a mobile health application: the production of homogeneous bodies and universal subjects

The “21 Days of a Healthier Life Movement” (M21) is a health education program that carries out its actions through two digital platforms, a website and an application. The idea is to disseminate tips on eating, physical activity and family life. The objective of this article is to analyze the images and discourses at the M21 platforms on the subject of physical activity. The analysis of materials read out the following questions: M21 reproduces the medicalising logic of physical activity, using the discursive formations of the biomedical field to situate itand encourage its practice. From this perspective, the program began to disseminate itsprivate councils, making individuals responsible for adherence to physical activities, thus disregarding a series of structural elements that are part of the life of the population.

Female chores or labor? Women who sew in Buenos Aires, 1852-1862

The present article proposes to focus on experiences related to sewing that did not necessarily imply being member of a trade, that only occasionally were remunerated, or that involved the transmission of needle craft knowledge considered feminine, in the city of Buenos Aires in the mid-nineteenth century. At a time of intense political and economic change, the aim is to look into the trajectories of women who were dedicated to mending their family’s clothes and occasionally sewing pieces for money, who worked in other people’s homes as maids and maids and whose ability to sew it was specifically required by their employers, elite girls who embroidered in their free time and women employed in teaching girls how to sew in some of the city’s schools. With the tools of social history and through the analysis of the local press, population censuses and municipal documentation, I try to reflect on what was considered work (and what was not) at that time and place, what were the ideas of qualification and what marks of gender, race and class impregnated those senses, for these women and for their contemporaries.
