The Professional Actions of Social Work in a Health Center in Saco Grande and the consolidation of the Single Health System

The present study has the objective of showing the compatibility between the actions developed by social work in several procedures being done in the state run health system – SUS, identifying the importance of the social workers in the management and improvement of the system. Following this idea, the study seeks to contribute for the discussion of the processes of work in the health area, specially in basic care, evidencing the experience lived. Key words: Social Work. The Family Health Program: making possible the universal public health in Brazil

The exposed theme in this article approaches the implantation of the Family Health Program as estrategy of conversion of the System of Health in Brazil. In the field of the public health, FHP is configured, now, in the widest assistencial politics of the section. It is disseminated by the whole national territory, tends as main goal the reorganization of the services and actions of health in the level of the primary attention. We chose three aspects that seem us central for the unterstanding of the process of implantation of FHP in Brazil, to know: the origem and the antecedents of the Program, the implantation and the impact of the Program in the municipal level and finally, the formation of the multiprofissional teams that constitute the units of health. Therefore, we intend to socialize part of the studies we have been conducting since 1997 about FHP in the Research Center on Social and Political Demands, in Social Work Post-Graduation Program at PUCRS. The interdisciplinarity as a tool for social inclusion: unveiling violent realities

The violence against children and adolescents is a social phenomenon that crosses the borders of economical and social position, faith, race or culture, and it has been the object of study of several professionals and institutions that work with this subject. Through the departments of Social Work, Law, Social Communication and Social and Institutional Psychology, Londrina’s State University is accomplishing a work in partnership with the three Guardian Counsel of the city in order to assist the cases of violence committed against the child and the adolescent. The violence is not a mere picture of an external reality, isolated and impenetrable, but it reveals a relation that reaches violator and violated, explicating the consequences of such practice. The actions involving different areas of knowledge allows an amplification the comprehension of this phenomenon, as well as the drawing of the strategies of intervention for prevention, spreading information to touch different segments of the organized civil society. The integration of knowledge in the way of the Group of Inter-Science Work resizes the phenomenon of the violence in its extension and complexion, installing the political commitment and social responsibility in all its participants. Some appointments about professional intervention of social worker in the area of urban violence

This paper proposes elements for an analysis about professional intervention of social workers in the area of urban violence. Its empirical reference is the statements of professionals of Social Service and of authorities who managed, between 2000 and 2001, proposals of social work and actions of public security. These informants practiced their activities in tree important areas of the city of São Paulo: Jardim Ângela, Capão Redondo e Santo Amaro. Key words: Social Service. Urban violence. This article has the intention of describing regarding the experience of the decisive participation of several representatives of institutions in the elaboration and the implementation of politics you publish in the worker’s health in the municipal district of Santa Cruz do Sul. The Participation of Civilian society in the Social Welfare Municipal Council: the challenge of a democratic representation

In the present article it is shown the civil society's participation on the Conselho Municipal de Assistência Social (City Council of Social Assistance). It is highlighted the protagonism and the role of civil society in the process of Brazilian society's democratisation and the struggle for the extension of the social rights written on the Federal Constitution of 1988. Being the councils one of the main tools of democratic participation, it is defended that, for the civil society to build a really democratic and participative representation, the representants need to create channels of permanent interlocution with the represented segments and theirs interventions need to be focused on the defence of collective interests, not private ones. Economic Growth and poverty in latin América: notes on an assymetric relation

The present article presents an appointment and analysis for economic growth and poverty in the main economies of Latin America. Thus, it develops a brief historical appointment for the Region and, in the sequence, highlights the attached behavior that pointed out the economic growth, and afterwards, it analyses a body of social indicators that point out to the hardening of poverty in the region. It concludes by emphasizing that Latin America had a steady economic growth in the last 50 years; however, it did not decrease their historical social inequalities. So, the basic characteristic of the region is the coexistence of part of the population included in a context of capitalistic consumption and another one, excluded, in some situations, even from the basic needs for survival. Housing Policy and the identification of the reasons for default of beneficiary´s families with the Land´s Program

This article intends to contextualize the dwelling policy, specifically at Restinga Seca-RS town hall, having as its major objective to verify which are the reasons for the insolvency of the families that have acquired their residences through public power. From interviews and information analysis, it can be concluded that relevant factors to insolvency of the families included in the referred Program are: low household income of the majority of people (up to a minimum wage), lack of conscience in relation to the Program that is originated from a public institution, and unfamiliarity with the dwelling policy adopted by the town hall. It is noticed that the work of a social assistant in the context of this social politics is of great importance in the perspective of valorisation and recovery of citizenship, thus guaranteeing that this policy be a right and a duty which gives the population dwelling conditions and life quality. Acessing social rights: municipal network of social policies – space of articulation among public social policies

This article presents some reflections on the essential articulation among public social policies as a way to gain access to and to guarantee social rights. These reflections are based on the principle that working jointly is essential, articulating in an integrated and complementary form the benefits, the services, the programs, and the projects linked to social policies, thereby establishing a service system that approaches the issue that determines the need of that public social policy. Brazilian´s situation and the social security: the need of participation for the rupture with the conservadorism

The paper describes some data on the contemporary brazilian scene, particularly on the situation of public policies. It aims at bestowing elements to a more specific reflection about Social Security in Brazil, understood as a system of strategic social protection supporting the construction of an effectivelly democratic State. Following this analysis, the necessity of participation of the civil society in the implementation of the Single System of Social Assistance is pointed out. Strategies should be applied in order to impel outsiders, so that the growing institutionalization can really work in favor of the downfall of old paradigms which continue to be politically nourished in the contemporary brazilian scene. What do elder women and men think about their aging?

This article is a part of a research developed between 2002 and 2003 in the cityof Santa Cruz do Sul in order to verify what are the social representations of the elderly for people over 60 years old. 150 elders took part on the study. 20 of them were interviewed (10 men and 10 women). The results obtained were analyzed trough the Bardin's Technique (1988). The interviewed are part of acquaintance groups of elders enrolled on the city hall and also of groups from UNISC – University of Santa Cruz do Sul and directed to this population. The results show a positive image of elderly seem as a natural process, but the women´s vision of the men of their age are negative, they say that men “are lazy, don´t take care of themselves and become inactive after the retirement”. Work with the families: a challenge for social workers

This article discusses the professional intervention of social workers with families. To do so, some observations are presented about the professional practice of social workers with families, considering data from empiric and bibliographic research. These observations raise questions about issues such as the “indifferentiation” of professional activities and their complexity and about challenges to the construction of a “new” professional practice with families. Based on the analysis conducted, a preliminary discussion is proposed about the possibilities for the construction of another cartography that can come to be a tool to discuss work with families in the context of Social Work. The professor... whose are we really talking about?

The present text looks for to approach the thematic one related to the consisted auto-image of the professor through one questionary and of the construction of a website that subsidized the confrontation with the Real. According to Arroyo (2000, p.124) We load the function that we exert, that we are and the image of professor (a) who we internalize. Of this form, the subject in study still follows today being highly significant, therefore we cannot forget the moments, social politicians and lived deeply by the professors historical, searching exactly explanations on as the questions of self-image, making and its abilities, its possibilities and limits and others as many factors that they are to modify its behavior. Arroyo (2000, p. 124) designates that the teaching auto-image is apprehended in multiple spaces and times, multiple experiences, as resulted of the psychological and social conditions that affect its pratic. Knowledge and Doing: the making of a health

The emergence of New Information and Communication Technologies (NICT) demands answers from health care professionals, taking into account the considerable transformations experienced by society. This context is discussed here as one of the scenarios of human needs. The study “Human Resources Network of SES at Specialization, M. Sc. and Ph. D. levels”, coordinated by the social service of ESP, aims at discussing some aspects of this reality in virtual networks. In order to to so, it brings about some aspects of the history of health care in Brazil, and links them to the evolution of knowledge technologies. Determinism x autonomy: the worker´s health as a field of struggle between social classes

O artigo faz uma reflexão sobre as estratégias dos trabalhadores ante as condições precarizadas de trabalho, no tempo presente, na lógica que tenciona o determinismo do modo capitalista de produção no processo de trabalho, e a autonomia dos trabalhadores para intervir no mesmo. Desse modo, busca evidenciar as condições em que se constroem tais estratégias, na busca da garantia de direitos e de novos caminhos de transformação da realidade no trabalho.
