This dissertation aims at presenting an interpretative analysis of female characters in Memórias póstumas de Brás Cubas, by Machado de Assis, by examining the theoretical perspectives of those characters and of the grotesque images especially focusing Virgília and Eugênia establishing a paradigm with the remaining female characters in the novel. In order to weave Machado de Assis diversity while composing these characters, we present the subsidies pertaining not only to character composition, but also to the grotesque per se. This can be found in the first chapter of this dissertation. To discuss the grotesque and the characters in literature, we used theories such as those presented by Foster, Bakhtin, Rosenfeld, Antonio Candido and Kayser, among other authors. Our assumption is that the female characters in Machado de Assis are strong-minded. Some are always in the command of the situations that they live; others, though presenting less selfexpression, also make a stand wherever they go. Virgília and Eugênia, the female characters studied here, as well as others in Machado de Assis s work and here analyzed are not the main characters in the plot, but to such extent are they strongly portrayed in the novel, that they stand out even more than Brás Cubas himself. This occurs due to their behavior, their social position and the extent of the decision they make under the conditions they are forced to face. The analysis carried out here shows that Machado is the first author to innovate in the composition of female characters, especially in terms of autonomy provision. For this reason, though written in the late nineteenth century, the novel investigated passionately surprises its reader at every new perusal.
Our research aims at making some considerations on the Latin cultural identity as it was conducted in the Portuguese language teaching material named Português I, by Domício Proença Filho and Maria Helena Duarte Marques, published by Editora Liceu in 1968 and adopted during the Brazilian military regimen after and because of the Mec/USAID agreements signed in 1965 by the Brazilian Government and the Agency for International Development (AID). This teaching material will be studied in parallel and in opposition to another one, Texto e Contexto, composed by Lidio Tesoto and Norma Discini (responsible for the production of the texts in the book). The latter was published by Editora do Brasil in the 80’s, the exact summit of globalization. Our purpose is to set a parallel bettwen both books so as to make it possible to check what cultural aspects are spread through the teaching materials and in what way they helped to build up the collective cultural imaginary of latinity in Brazil. By means of this study we intend to defend the idea that changes from our Latin-European origin to a Latin-American origin, due to colonialism processes and coloniality-modernity processes afterwards, are responsible to determine our cultural identity, which is nowadays more American than Latin, concerning customs and knowledges of our cultural roots, which are so indispensable to our formation both as human beings and citizens in times of globalized identities. of domination and submission as colonies of being and knowing brings about what Mignolo has called colonial wound (herida colonial) and this leads us to believe in our defficient identitary formation: “el sentimento de inferioridad impuesto em los seres humanos que no encajam em el modelo predeterminado por los relatos euro-americanos.” (MIGNOLO, 2005:17). Confronted with this context, we ask: How are Latin American cultural identity reproduced and represented through discourse of the discursive genre textbook? We are aware that every society receives new features and characteristics, but they don´t put their traditions aside; on the contrary, these traditions may be transformed and upgraded according to the needs and daily uses of that same society. However, how do these updates tend to identify us culturally, as citizens of the 21st century, through the base-texts of textbooks in the Collective Cultural Imaginary of our children? For the development of this study, our theoretical foundation will rely on studies by Elia (1957;1966), Nóbrega (1962), Coutinho (1973), Faria (1941), Romanelli (1986), Althusser (1998), Giddens (1991), Burke (1995), Canclini (1999), Grimal (1999), Bassetto (2001), Hall (2005), Mignolo (2005), Bauman (2008), Neves(2006), Orecchioni (1997), Bakhtin (1997a), (1997b), Marcuschi (2008), Cattelan(2009), among others who, in the course of their work, ground discussions about issues concerning the ideological function of textbooks in Brazil, coloniality / modernity and discursive construction of cultural identity “dispensable” in history and teaching of language and Latin culture in Portuguese language, as well as the role of adjectives, adjective clauses and discursive genres (compositional structure and thematic contents) as discursive modalizers and formers of a subaltern Latin cultural identity, in portuguese language teaching manuals in Brazil.

This study presents the conception and implantation processes concerning Centro Dragão do Mar equipment located in the town of Fortaleza, State of Ceará. The equipment was considered as an urban intervention due to the recent economic changes in the whole world and in the nations. The Centro Dragao do Mar peculiarities were related to the state power decisions. The main reflections about the equipment were related to its idealization and to the recent tourist and leisure s state interventions in the town. Although the Centro Dragao do Mar retains some important characteristics such as a non gentrificated use and many variable free programming, it may be understood as a Fortaleza strategic piece driven by state government which searches for a town insertion in a global economy based in fragmented and fairly consolidated urban and cultural aspects.

Tratamento constitucional do trabalho humano: pretensão constitucional e realidade contemporânea
The aim of this study is to purpose a reflection on the value of the human work, constitutionally presented in two aspects: social, considering that the human work is established as a Republic essential ground, combined with the protection of the human dignity (article 1º, inc. III and IV), with the objective of building a free, fair and joint society (article 3º, inc. I); and economic, considering that the valorization of the human work is the base upon the economic order is funded, with the purpose to present a dignify existence (article 170). Establishing a parallel between the constitutional aim and the contemporaneous reality, the focus of this study is to investigate the current crisis of the Welfare State proposed by the Federal Constitution, mentioning questions as: collision among constitutional principles; effective and applicable laws rules and the transition of the society, that presents real crisis, due to the globalization and the trade-off. In this scenario, it concludes that it is necessary the development of a new constitutional hermeneutic, more appropriated and compatible to the objectives of the current society.
This study focuses in the identification of the marketing strategies used by companies in the luxury market of clothing and accessories of international brands that are consolidated in the Brazilian market. The objectives of this research are getting to know the vision of the executives about the concepts and features of luxury goods, especially the brands that these products represent; understand the behavior of their customers; identify the practices of the marketing mix; and to know what the competition in this sector is like. The research, of a qualitative nature, utilized a nonprobabilistic sample of seven marketing executives of seven different companies in the segment. Techniques of content analysis were applied to the treatment and analysis of the data, based in the transcriptions ipsis litteris of the semi-structured interviews, which were recorded in audio format. The results point to similar views about luxury products and brands, each brand having a typical consumer. Regarding the marketing strategies, it was possible to verify a main concern in maintaining the brand intact instead of increasing its market-share. The activities of the marketing mix obey the rules established by the brand s head offices outside of the country, leaving no margin to innovate from its standard, in order not to compromise the international image of the brand. The importance and growing of accessories sales to the brands were noticed, since they allow an increase of the aspiring customer base of the brand. Amongst the relevant findings, one of them was the use of payment through installments and the good quality service of the sellers in relation to other countries. Another interesting finding was the fact that all the researched brands consider only other brands that sell similar products as competitors, not recognizing the competition of any national brand.

In this work the main characteristics, applications, potentialities and limitations of the controlled release systems were studied, as well as the mechanisms that directly influenced the release kinetics of the active agent. Micro and nanostructured systems have great potential for the controlled release and encapsulation of bioactive molecules. The various biodegradable polymer systems represent a new strategy for the delivery of active ingredients. A controlled release system enables the drug concentration profile to remain constant within the therapeutic range thereby promoting increased therapeutic index and immune response to the patient and avoiding adverse side effects when compared to conventional methods of administration. In this work were obtained membranes formed by polymeric biosystems for application in controlled release of drugs and other assets. Four release systems were obtained: beeswax / protein / lecithin; beeswax / protein / alginate / lecithin and beeswax / alginate / chitosan / lecithin by methods of complex coacervation and spray drying. The results show that the most effective system was bee / protein / alginate / lecithin.
Frida Kahlo: roupa como linguagem (cultura, arte e identidade)
This research is based on the interpretive analysis of the wardrobe of Frida Kahlo from images of the book El Ropero de Frida 2007. The Mexican artist had a strong visual identity and she was able to communicate through her clothing. The clothes allow the formation of a non-verbal language and when we analyze the body dressed we find personal speeches. Within a society the language is subject to cultural and esthetic values, but questions of political interests, patterns of decorum and artistic movements influence the choice of colors, proportions, volumes and accessories. Frida Kahlo's life was troubled and her body was formed and transformed by diseases and accidents. As a counterpoint to a history of frailty, the artist became a strong woman. His personality, his political engagement and mainly his artistic career reflect how she lived. Analyzing her wardrobe we recognize three models of speeches in different panels. The daily panel shows the Frida´s clothes daily routine. Casual pieces, adapted to the customs and weather of her country. The pieces that the artist wore with strong Mexican influence are gathered in the cultural panel. Wheel dresses, embroidered gowns, with striking references of the Tehuan tribes and pieces that allow the symbolic reading of the strong Mexican culture. And the protest panel features the clothes Frida Kahlo used with the intention of clearly exposing her political intentions or personal dissatisfaction. Men's pieces, black clothes and corsets with communist symbols were able to shock the moment it was proposed. Common to all three panels is Frida's strong personality, her willingness to hide her physical disability with skirts and dresses, her passion for accessories and colors, and her fascinating personal history.

Imitation is an important function for child development. From there the child connects with the outside world to observe the other in their attitudes, words and actions. Studies show the link between imitation and social interaction, language acquisition, motor and cognitive skills. Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) have difficulties in social interaction and to connect with the outside world. The general objective of this study was to compare the performance in imitation of tasks between children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and children with typically development. The instruments used to compare the performances were: Imitation battery (BI) with 13 tasks developed for children between 12 and 24 months and the other battery d130 (Bd130) with 15 tasks developed for children between 2 and 5 years, these instruments have been applied in 3 groups of children: A: typical children aged between 18 and 24 months -BI; B: typical children 6 years old - Bd130 and C: children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) aged between 3 and 7 years-BI and Bd130. These batteries have been applied by the researcher individually and in a quiet environment. The result showed that: 1) the two sets of tasks could be applied and are reliable to evaluate the ability of imitation of children. The d130 battery should better assess typical children younger than 6 years because almost all managed to perform all tasks, with little difficulty in some more complex items; 2) the tasks of BI for typical children between 18 and 24 months are well structured and performance is a direct function of age. Increase the sample size aged at least every two months will be needed to better demonstrate the ability to imitate by age and by gender. The same tasks for children with ASD showed capacity of discrimination, indicating the commitment of this sample. These results should be confirmed in a larger number of children; 3) we found that in children between 18 and 24 months the success of the children answer the tasks presented depend on the appropriate link establishment with the applicator; 4) the tasks proposed by d130 battery were suitable to assess the ability of children with ASD imitation between the ages of 3 to 7 years. It was observed that the skills of the act of imitating that more are affected are those related to motor skill as: copy a circle, square, cross and star. It was possible to see a big difficulty in holding the pencil properly to execute their proposed models. Another skill that proved impaired was the imitation of building a simple visual pattern, showing once again that children with ASD have difficulty to pay attention to details. And the last skill that is damaged is the one linked to the language because many of the children did not speak or had difficulty in speech, not being able to recognize the sound they were producing. With increased sample size may be tested the performance of these tasks in a broader manifestations of ASD spectrum; 5) it is proposed that the d130 function - imitation of the ICF-CY (International Functionality Coding for Children and Adolescents) is classified with the use of these 15 tasks d130 Battery

On one side, the innovative company and, on the other, the open market make up the context that serves as the basis of this research. Undertaken in the Brazilian reality over the past ten years, this research looked to study and conclude in what way innovation contributes to the performance of the IPO. In the period between 2000 and 2010, 245 companies opened their capital, but only 98 went onto the stock market. In the initial phase of research, structured interviews with members of capital markets and with companies that opened their capital, comprised the qualitative part of the research and validated the questionnaire sent to the companies. In the second phase, the quantitative research was undertaken through two ways. The questionnaire was sent to each company and then, at the same time, each launch prospectus of the shares (the most important secondary source of the IPO) was used to obtain the answers of the questionnaire. The direct response rate was very low, however, through the direct interviews and quantitative research of the launch prospectuses, a relationship between innovation and IPO performance could not be generically proven. In specific cases, this relationship could be observed and deserves to be studied further and in a more profound manner.
