It establishes isoperimetric inequalities and exit mean time estimates for minimal submanifolds of N x R, where N is a complete Riemannian manifold with sectional curvature non-positive. It proves isoperimetric inequalities for submanifolds with tamed second fundamental form in Hadamard spaces with bounded sectional curvature.
Background. There are few studies of renal function evaluation in visceral leishmaniasis (Kala-azar). The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical manifest and the risk factors associated with acute kidney injury (AKI) based on RIFLE criteria in patients with visceral leishmaniasis (VL). Methods. A retrospective study of medical records from patients over 14 years old, without previous kidney disease, with VL, treated at São José Infectious Diseases Hospital, from 2002 to 2008. Clinical manifestations and risk factors for AKI (defined by using RIFLE criteria) were studied. A multivariate analysis was performed to analyze the risk factors for AKI. Results. A total of 224 patients were included. The mean age was 36±15 years and 76.8% were males. AKI was observed in 76 patients (33.9% of cases) and % 52.6 (40) were class F on RIFLE criteria. The main clinical symptoms were dyspnea, edema and jaundice in patients with VL and AKI (p<0.05). Oliguria was observed in 6.5% of patients with AKI. Risk factors associated with AKI were male gender (OR=2.2, 95% CI= 1.0-4.7, p=0.03), age > 40 years (OR = 1.05, 95% CI= 1.02-1.08, p < 0.001) and jaundice (OR=2.9, 95% CI= 1.5-5.8 p=0.002). There was an strong association between amphotericin B use and AKI (OR=18.4, 95% CI=7.9-42.8, p<0.0001), whereas glucantime® use was associated with a lower incidence of AKI when compared to amphotericin B users (OR=0.05, 95% CI=0.02-0.12, p<0.0001). Mortality was 13.3% and it was higher in AKI patients (30.2% vs. 4.7%, p<0.0001). RIFLE criteria presented mortality 40%, 20.8% e 35% in R, I and F respective class. Conclusions. The risk factors associated with AKI in patients with VL were male gender, advanced age, jaundice and amphotericin B. The last one was the most important factor of AKI in VL.

Teoria geométrica da medida e aplicações
This master thesis aims to study some of the work of the Italian mathematician Ennio De Giorgi which refer to the existence and regularity of minimal surfaces but they do not fully contextualized within the framework of differential geometry but rather focused on a field of mathematics that implemented a few decades Geometric Measure Theory. According to the definitions of Ennio De Giorgi will study surfaces, which gave to the same as certain boundarys of sets, which are denoted sets Caccioppoli, this honor given by De Giorgi the Italian mathematician Renato Caccioppoli. These sets have many interesting geometric properties, such as adimits canonical tangent plan almost everywhere, and have "perimeter" finite. The above results will see that even the size 7 all the solutions to the problem of Plateau are regular and in general their regular class is C1,α. Finally, the results of this study are mostly based on the work: Minimal Surface and Function of Bounded Variation of the author Enrico Giusti, which summarizes the techniques of Geometric Measure Theory relating to the work of Ennio De Girogi on a regularity theory of minimal surfaces Theorem (De Giorgi- Federer- Massari - Miranda) Let Ω contains in R^n, n>1 an open set and E contains in R^n a Caccioppoli set satisties to α in (0, 1) ψ(E, Bρ(x)) < cρ^(n-1+2α) for every x in Ω and every ρ in (0, R), with c and R positive constants. Then the reduced boundary is a hipersurface analitic C1,α in Ω, e H^s((∂ E - ∂E) Ω) = 0 for every s > n - 8. Furthemore, suppose that Ej is a sequence of minimal sets in B1 locally converging at minimal set C. Let x in ∂ C and xj in Ej , xj converging at x. Then, if j is enough large , xj is a regular point for ∂Ej and νEj(xj) converges to ν(x), where ν(x) is a normal vector relative at Ej, ∂ E denots the boundary reduced of E and H^s denots the Hausdorff measure.
Grupos de holonomia e o teorema de decomposição de de Rham
In this report we give a brief description of holonomy groups of Riemannian manifolds and prove some technical results needed to guarentee the existence of a de Rham decomposition of a complete and simply connected Riemannian manifold. Such an existence constitutes itself as the core of a famous result on holonomy groups, they so-called de Rham's decomposition theorem, whose proof is our ultimate goal.

Grupos cobertos por seis subgrupos maximais
This dissertation is based on the article "Groups with a maximal irredundant 6-cover"of A. Abdollahi, MJ Ataei, SM Jafarian Amiri and A. Mohammadi Hassanabadi, which characterize groups with a maximal irredundante cover for six subgroups with core-free intersection. As an application of this result we characterize groups that admit a cover for six subgroups own and does not allow coverage an amount of less than six members. We will also show that the largest index |G : D| over all groups G having an irredundant cover for six subgroup with intersection D is 36.
Coberturas de grupos
The paper results on the Coverage groups by abelian subgroups, subgroups of Sylow and normal subgroups. We present in appendix C an elementary proof a very important result in the coverage p-Sylow.
Reticulados de Craig transladados
Let p an odd prime. A family of (p-1)-dimensional over-lattices yielding new record packings for several values of p in interval [149... 3001] is presented. The result is obtained by modifying Craig's construction and considering conveniently chosen Z-submodules of Q (ζ), where ζ is a primitive pth root of unity. For p ≥ 59, it is shown that the center density of the (p-1)-dimensional lattice in the new family is at least twice the center density of the (p-1)-dimensional Craig lattice.

In a connected and compact Riemannian Manifold we will introduce the concept of spectre of Laplace operator. Using the existence and unicity of the heat kernel in Riemannian manifold we proof the Hodge composition theorem. This theorem states that the Hilbert space L2(M, g) decompose in direct sum of subspaces with finite dimesion, where each subspace is the eigen-space relative of a eigenvalue of the laplacian. Furthermore, the eigenvalues form a nonnegative sequence the accumulate only in the infinity. After that we begin the construction of the heat kernel and, finally, we show that two isospetral Riemannian manifolds have the same volume.
Famílias infinitas de corpos quadráticos imaginários
Let ℓ > 3 be an odd prime. Let So, S+, S_ be mutually disjoint finite sets of rational primes. For any suficiently large real number X > 0, basing ourselves on [16], we give this paper a lower bound of the number of imaginary quadratic fields k which satisfy the following conditions: the discriminant of k is greater than -X, the class number ok is not divisible by ℓ, every q € So ramifies, every q € S+ splits and every q € S_ is inert in k, respectively.
Given a word w and a group G, suppose that the set can be Gw covered by finite cyclic subgroups. It is true that w(G) can also be covered by finite cyclic subgroups? This dissertation will show that the answer is positive for the word switch.

Let Ω be a fixed domain in Rn with boundary S of class C2 and denote Ω′ = Rn Ω. Both Ω and Ω′ not necessarily connected. Under these conditions, we intend to solve the problems of Dirichlet and Neumann. In order to overcome the mentioned the problems, we will study the Fredholm theory (compact operators), the Kelvin transformed, harmonicity in the infinite and potential of the layer.
In this paper, we define the transformations of Newton and prove some properties related to them. We did a study on elliptic operator and use it to prove that given some conditions for the sectional curvature of a riemannian manifold M,able function of increasing height (in modulus) of a graph vertical compact immersed in MXR.
Estabilidade de hipersuperfícies tipo-espaço em folheações espaço-tempo
Give a generalized M─n+1 = I xØ Fn Robertson-Walker spacetime whose warping function verifies a certain convexity condition, we classify strongly spacelike hypersurfaces with constant mean curvature. More precisely, we will show that given x : Mn → M─n+1 a closed, strongly stable spacelike hypersurfaces of M─n+1 with constant mean curvature H, if the warping function Ø satisfying Ø ≥ max {HØ', 0} along M, is either maximal or a spacelike slice Mto = {to} x F, for some to Є I.

The aim of this works is to show superior estimatives to the least non-zero eingenvalue lambda1 of the Laplace-Beltrami operator delta. The forthcoming results were discovered by Reilly [1] and the duo A. El Soufi and S. Ilias [2]. Reilly’s Estimative was calculated for immersed manifolds in the Euclidian Space Rn, and Soufi-Ilias for conformally immersed manifolds in the sphere Sn.Then, we conclude the result, again by Soufi-Ilias [2], for submanifolds of the hyperbolic space Hn.
This paper presents an analysis of mergers simulation on the Brazilian automobile market. The central objective is computing the effects of a merger in the equilibrium price. Postmerger equilibrium outcomes are simulated under some assumptions on the demand and the supply sides. The results confirm the expected increase in prices. This result is suitable with the expectation that the mergers would implicate in increases of market prices and, without increases of economical efficiency, they can impose losses for the consumers.

Elasticidades e markups no mercado brasileiro de automóveis
This paper applies a Mixed Logit model to an unbalanced panel with data of new automobiles sold in Brazil from 2005 to 2008. After presenting the theoretical aspects of the model and its advantages and disadvantages vis-a-vis conventional methods, the construction of the computational routine is described. The results of model are compared with the traditional techniques and price elasticities, cross-price and markups are calculated. Then Mixed Logit’s superiority clear as it generates more plausible numbers than the traditional techniques, as, for example, price-elasticity-price of -9,1 for the model Gol 1.0 and of -2,6 for the model Honda Civic. Markups are 12,5% and 38,7% for these models, respectively.

This study aims to estimate the elasticity product-public expenditure to the Brazilian economy, during the period 1950-2005, with the aim of examining the long-term relationship between these variables. In making the estimate of the cointegration vector, it was considered was the occurrence of a structural change in of long term relationship caused by sharp reducing the rate of investment in the public sector in recent decades. The change in long-term relationship between variables can be captured by a change in component deterministic in the cointegration vector. The result of the test of instability of the cointegration vector, developed by Seo (1998), confirms the occurrence of change. Based on this result it was estimated the cointegration vector by Dynamic Least Squares allowing a structural change in component deterministic following the methodology proposed by Carrion-i-Silvestre e Sansó (2005). Estimates obtained are lower than those found in the literature.

Abertura comercial, dotação de fatores produtivos e a desigualdade de rendimentos no Brasil: 1990-1998
This work studies the empirical relations between the endowment of production factors, commercial opening and personal income in the Brazilian states in the period between and 1998. Using given in panel, it tests the hypothesis of that regions or states with bigger per capita land endowment and capital have distribution of less igualit´aria income and that regions or states with bigger per capita endowment of qualified work have distribution of igualit´aria income. One still verifies which the effect of the commercial opening on the income inaquality. The study still it verifies the relation of the endowments of factors and the opening with the composition of the exportations, with the participation of agriculture and the industry in the market of work and the increase of the education of the labor force.
