Cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) is a mixture of meta-alkyl-phenols which varies on its degree of unsaturation attached to the benzene nucleus. The kinetic study of the thermal degradation at 140°C of synthetic cis-1,4-polyisoprene film, in the absence and presence of technical and natural CNSL and some derivatives (anacardic acid, cardol, cardanol, hydrogenated cardanol and alkylated hydrogenated cardanol) was carried out by infrared spectroscopy through the evolution of the relative absorbance of the bands in 3450 cm-1, 1720 cm-1 and 835 cm-1. The amount of hydroxyl and carbonyl group formed and also of carbon double bond consumed during the degradation was determined. All material studied showed antioxidant activity that was verified by an increase in the induction period and a decrease in the apparent rate constants of thermal-oxidation. The antioxidant effectiveness is higher for the addition of 3% (w/w) of technical CNSL derivatives, except for alkylated cardanol. The antioxidant effectiveness is higher for the addition of 2% (w/w) of natural CNSL derivatives, except for anacardic acid and pure. Based on kinetic parameters the order of antioxidant activity for technical CNSL derivative was: CNSL >> cardanol ≅ hydrogenated and alkylated cardanol >> hydrogenated cardanol. For natural CNSL components the order was: cardol > cardanol >> CNSL >> Anacardic acid. Thermogravimetric analyses reveals that the addition of LCC derivatives provide stabilization of PIS in atmosphere of nitrogen, as well as in synthetic air. The commercial antioxidants: IPPD (N-isopropyl-N-phenil-p-phenilene-diamine), DPPD (N,N’-phenil-p- phenilene-diamine), Banox H (2,2,4-trimethyl-1,2-dihidroquinoline-polimerizade) and Banox S (phenol styrened) presented a quite superior activity, except for BHT (2,6-di-terc-buthyl-4-methyl-phenol. Among β-naftol derivatives, AO-3 (1,6-diamine-β-naftol) presented a similar antioxidant activity to IPPD, although with smaller values of the apparent rate constants. On the other hand, the derivatives AO-1 (6-N-ethyl, N-ethylamine-β-naftol) and AO-2 (6-N-ethyl,N-diethylamine-β-naftol) presented a quite superior antioxidant activity when compared to LCC derivatives, but inferior to AO-3.

In this work the solid state procedure was used, with success, in the production of ceramic matrix composites based in Cr0,75Fe1,25O3(CRFO100), Fe0,5Cu0,75Ti0,75O3 (FCTO100), Pb(Fe0,5Nb0,5O3) (PFN100) e CaTiO3 (CTO), for the study of the structural and electrical properties of these composites for the possible use in electronic, radio-frequency and microwave circuitry. The first two series Cr0,75Fe1,25O3(CRFO100)--Fe0,5Cu0,75Ti0,75O3 (FCTO100), and Pb(Fe0,5Nb0,5O3) (PFN100)--Cr0,75Fe1,25O3 (CRFO100), were studied by the X-ray, MEV, EDSX, Mössbauer spectroscopy and electrical properties as a function of temperature . The study of the electrical properties at the microwave region was done using the Hakki-Coleman technique and operating the samples as a dielectric resonator antenna. The series Cr0,75Fe1,25O3 (CRFO100)--CaTiO3 (CTO) was studied by all the mentioned techniques, except for the techniques MEV, EDSX and Mössbauer spectroscopy. This work has the objective to synthesize and to characterize new composite materials for use in electronic, microwave and radio-frequency devices. After the synthesis of the samples the formation of the composites in the following series: (CRFO)x-(FCTO)100-x, with x = 0, 17, 34, 50, 66, 83 and 100% in mass; (PFN)x - (CRFO)100-x, with x = 0, 10, 50, 90 and 100 in mass % and xCRFO - (1-x)CTO with x = 0, 10, 50, 90 and 100 in mol %. The identification and the subsequent refinement of the data for the first series revealed a trigonal structure for the CRFO100 and a cubic structure for the FCTO100. In the case of the second series, the PFN100 present a tetragonal structure and in the third series, the CTO present an ortorhombic structure. The Mössbauer spectroscopy confirmed in the case of the first two series, the state of oxidation of the iron (Fe3+) and it´s coordination in all composites. Except for the PFN100, the morphology of the grains in the samples was characterized by the diversity in the form and size for all the samples of the first two series. The elementary chemical analysis supplied quantitative results concerning of the present elements in the investigated samples. It was observed by the RF measurements a dispersion which is characteristic of the process of dipolar polarization. The dielectric properties with temperature was also studied. The TCC (Temperature Coefficient of Capacitance) and activation energy associated to the modulus formalism was obtained in a temperature interval of 25oC to 100oC. The coast of Rio Grande do Norte, due to its geographical orientation, has characteristics that distinguish it from other coastal areas of Northeastern Brazil. With different climatological, geomorphological and phytogeographical features, the coastline is divided into two distinct areas: northern and eastern, where the fleet of small-scale crafts with great effectiveness. Despite being an activity of great socioeconomic importance, this sector is currently experiencing difficulties in their planning, due to its high complexity, making it difficult to obtain necessary information for evaluation and monitoring of fisheries. Therefore, the central goal of this research work was to analyze the bioecology of marine fishes and the fisheries dynamics, considering the geographical orientation and the seasonal changes of climatic conditions off the coast of Rio Grande do Norte. The data used were obtained during the execution of the Project of Fishery Statistics in Rio Grande do Norte, coordinated by the Center for Research and Management of Fisheries Resources of the Northeast Coast and developed by the Executive Management of the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources from January 2005 to December 2006. To meet the goals, the bioecology of marine fishes was assessed concerning four ecological components: composition, characterization, abundance and diversity, evaluating possible seasonal differences in the last two components, which were later described and correlated with the biology of target species. Considering the fisheries dynamics, this was analyzed through four fishing parameters: characterization, fishing effort, yield and species composition, also evaluating possible seasonal differences in relation to the main targeted species. Multivariate techniques were used in order to synthesize the structure of data variability, making it easier to interpret the results. Thus, the Northern coast showed a seasonal environment with the presence of an important upwelling area, where the structure of the ichthyofauna was defined as low species diversity and composed by pelagic species with high biomass levels. Based on this structure, the main features of this area corresponded to fishing for flying fish and dolphin fish, with the rowing boat/scoop net showing the best performance in the catching of those species, which is more effective at the rainy season due to the reproductive period of flying fish. The Eastern coast showed different characteristics to those of the Northern one, with a more stable environment due to the presence of a large complex of coral reefs, where the structure of the ichthyofauna showed high species diversity of demersal species with low individual abundance. According to this configuration, the main features of this area were related to several species of the families Lutjanidae, Haemulidae and Carangidae, and the raft and hand-line appearing as the most important fisheries dynamics proved the hypothesis, which was: “The environmental peculiarities of the Northern and Eastern coastal of Rio Grande do Norte State model the structure of the ichthyofauna and imply different harvesting strategies implemented by small-scale fisheries”.

In this work were carried out the synthesis, characterization and the reactivity study of the cis-[Ru(bipy)2LNO](PF6)n (L = imidazole, isonicotinamide and sulphite) and trans-[Ru(bipy)2SO3NO](PF6) complexes, aiming the modulation of the nitrosyl complexes that can act as NO donors in biological systems. The infrared spectra of the cis-[Ru(bipy)2LNO](PF6)n and trans-[Ru(bipy)2SO3NO](PF6) complexes presented ν(NO) frequencies latively high indicating that the nitric oxide is coordinated to the metal center in linear form, NO+. These frequencies were utilized as an indicative of the influence of the L ligands according to the decreasing order of the p-acceptor character of the ligand L: Isn > Im > SO3 2–, where cis-[Ru(bipy)2IsnNO](PF6)3 presents the higher value of the ν (NO). The characteristics of the 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra of the compounds L = Isn, ImN are consistent with the position of the coordination to metal center of such ligands and that the pyridine rings of the bipyridine are in the cis isomeric form. This conclusion is based on the presence of several signs in the 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra, due to 16 protons and 20 carbon of the two bipyridine. The Resence of only four signals in the 1H NMR spectrum for the trans-[Ru(bipy)2SO3NO](PF6), suggests that the two bipyridine are coordinated to the ruthenium in a trans conformation one each other. The study of the nitrosyl-nitro interconvertion reaction to the cis- [Ru(bipy)2SO3NO](PF6) and trans-[Ru(bipy)2SO3NO](PF6), using the spectrophotometric method reveled that only in the pH values above 9,0 half of the species containing the NO+ fragment suffered nucleuphilic attack by the hydroxide, producing the NO2 species. The equilibrium constants, Keq to the reaction: Cis, trans-[Ru(bpy)2LNO]+n + 2OH- Cis, trans-[Ru(bpy)2LNO2]+n + H2O Were calculated in NaTFA 0,5 Mol L–1 presenting the following values: 1,80 x 1025 L2mol-2, 1,42 x 1016 L2 mol-2, 1,74 x 107 L2 mol-2 for the complexes with the isonicotinamide, imidazole and sulphite, respectively. By the electrochemical study of the nitrosyl complexes it can be concluded that in the potential equal to –300 mV versus Ag/AgCl occurs the reduction of the NO+ ligand, producing NO0. This process is followed by a chemical reaction where occurs the NO05 release and the formation of the aqua complex. It was observed one correlation between the ν(NO) and E1/2 values for the quasi-reversible process centered in this ligand.
