The article proposes two teaching activities using the articles in Comunicação & Educação # 25. The author organizes the proposal based on the reflection on the following matters: the "objective of the school," and, "why teach." Both subjects were inspired by the saying: "Brazil is good in soccer, but bad in school," written on a banner during the reception celebration held for the five-time world champion soccer players in Brasília.

Fictional narrative in television: dealing with social themes
The article discusses the narrative potential telenovela and other television fiction products have, such as a genre that for a long time, in Brazil, has been contarninated by daily life, by themes that compose our society's main storylines. The television language is alço considered educational, in broad terrns, being, many times, more in tune with reality than the journalistic discourse itself. The television fictional narrative, according to the author, recovers the myths present in the stories told in the city squares, street markets, in books, and which are part of the different cultures.

Entre elas podemos destacar a produção e socialização interativa de conhecimentos no ciberespaço, evento esse conhecido como cibercultura. Paradoxalmente também encontramos no ciberespaço práticas curriculares tradicionais e fragmentadas, bem como o resgate tecnicista das práticas de educação a distância. O artigo é um convite que desafia os educadores a criarem e gerirem novas ações curriculares de formação de professores que potencializern a característica fundante do digital: a comunicação interativa.

Tecnologia digital: perspectivas mundiais
A dialogue for the digital era: world perspectives) Absfract The article calls the reader's attention to the transformations that are in course in the contemporaneous society, most especially due to interaction with the new technologies. The transformations that are taking place already result in changes in professions and in the profile of the professionals in the communications area as the integration between the media dynamizes the processes that come from this. The author alço differentiates the virtual community and virtual society concepts, highlighting the latter as the one that is charactenzed by the social uses of the Internet and of the communication networks, while the virtual communities are closed and self-sufficient networks. In this regard, it emphasizes the importante of understanding technological mediation and the mediation of the experience of reflection on the perspectives that open for Communication Sciences.
An open mind for education
ln an interview given to Comuniação & Eüucaçáo Professor Heloísa Dupas Penteado, post-doctor of USP's College of Education, talks about her experiences and expectations regarding Education. A sociologist, educator, specialist in teaching didactics, she taught children and young people in the State of São Paulo's public school education system. She then dedicated herself to research and to training teachers and was one of the pioneers in introducing the means of mass communication languages and themes in the classroom and in researching its influence on young students. Author, among others, of Comunicação escolar, uma metodologia de ensino, she talked about the importance of teacher-training courses being open to the complexity of communication in the contemporaneous society and on other themes.

What can fiction do for reality?
The article deals with how television fiction, in particular the Brazilian telenovela, has dealt successfully with social themes that are difficult to solve, such as homosexuality, corruption, drugs, cancer, among others. It has also mobilized the population towards discussion, searching for support for behavioral changes. Fiction deals with reality based on its specificity, but it is up to the social forces to cause change. The author also emphasizes the Brazilian telenovela as unique product of its type, stressing its technical and thematic quality when compared to the other cultural products aired by TV.
Cidade de Deus - the movie
Palavras-chave: The article highlights the movie Cidade de Deus (2002) as one of the most expressive recent productions of the national cinema, both regarding the public it has mobilized and because of the attention it has drawn from the intellectuals. The movie has brought up old controversies on the aesthetics (cosmetics) of hunger. The author takes-on a position, emphasizing the greatness of the Buscapé character who, with his determination, frees the public from the simplified good guy/bad guy formula, remitting it to the most disconcerting uneasiness.
Os sertões: a 100-year old educational epopee
The article proposes a reflection on Os sertões, by Euclides da Cunha, based on three aspects: the narrator subject; the historical event; and the unique writing style. The article's author highlights the book's internal dynamics, which is now 100 years old, as revealing of the transformation process the man Euclides da Cunha was undergoing and of the view of the massacre, as his sensibility changes, as a proper man, as he contacts the drama of the hinterland people. The author's internal dialogue, his work and his history remain the major value of Os sertões, a reflection that is necessary for these days.
Produção em rádio
The article deals with the professional experience of joumalist and broadcaster Pedro Vaz (Pedro Serico Vaz Filho). He talks about his pasion for radio and describes the diculties of the professional who is dedicated to the production area. He gives hints on the specificity of the radiophonic language, and deals with the lack of bibliographic material to study and to reflect on this medium. He also highlights the importante of team work and of respect among colleagues.
At school with comics
A teacher of the public school network talks about her teaching experience developing a project that uses Maurício de Souza's Turma da Mônica funnybook stories in the classroom. The children read the funnybooks, watch the cartoons, research their creator, discuss the characteristics of each of the characters and the different levels or speech registrations that appear; they then create new stories, put them in writing and narrate them. Over and beyond the story's narrative, the teacher worked with notions in journalistic text with the children and, as proposed, they divulged the work they produced in the school's bulletin and invited their friends to the theatrical presentation of the stories that were created.
The error in the teaching-learning process
A teacher of the public school system from the city of Paulínia/SP structured a teaching project that deals with errors as a part of the teaching strategy. The students tell, write and dramatize the stories they make-up. The activity begins with the preparation, by the students, of puppets that become the characters of the stories that are first dramatized, and then wriiten, re-read and corrected.

Educom.TV: an online course for public schools)
The educommunication concept and practices are being used in a distance learning course aiming at recycling state school teachers in São Paulo. Communication/education is a field of activity that prepares educators to use media technologies and languages in educational projects. In this course, television was dealt with, demonstrating how it can be used in the classroom with the students in a critical manner.

Preparation for changes
The article proposes that teachers, coordinators and school directors reflect on the changes that are being required of the schooling institution regarding the dynamics of teaching learning, teacher-student and on teaching approaches. For this, it proposes they watch: Hiroshima mon amor, The wall, Dead poeft society Teachers and Amistad, based on them, carry out teaching and study seminars.

The author proposes three instructive activities teachers can carry out with their students, in the classroom, based on the reading of the following articles published in this edition (number 26) of Comunicação & Educação: A dialogue for the digital era: world perspectives; New curricular practices in distance learning; Cidade de Deus - the movie, and Production in radio. The objective is to make the students more sensible to the changes that have been taking place in the professions due to digital technologies; to the right to have access to cultural goods and to express cultural diversity; and regarding the importance of radio as a means of communication in the communities.

Technology and building citizenship
The article discusses the function of the new technologies in building citizenship. It shows that in and of themselves they do not characterize quality teaching and that for this to be achieved it ís necessary to have projects that are adequate to Iead the student to be a critical citizen. In this regard, these new technologies favor and enhance teaching quality.The author also shows that these days knowledge must be a collective construction and that technology has contributed very much for the growth of networks, for exchanging and sharing ideas and information.
The Paulo Freire Philosophy and cognitive practices in journalism
Applying Paulo Freire's praxic philosophy may allow for advances in the understanding of the conditioning of cognitive practices inherent to the journalistic activity, both in the production and in the reception poles, and it may also contribute to perfecting these social practices in the democratic environment. Based on a new reading of Freire's work, confronted with the conception of journalism as knowledge, this work points to the opportunity of developing and applying a "Paulo Freire methods to journalistic production.
