The adolescent process in the discourse of the adolescent women in a peripheral community in Manaus

This work discusses adolescence. It addresses issues related to the different ways of understanding this theme, so as to approach the conceptions that adolescent women from a peripheral neighborhood of the city of Manaus have developed about their teenage years. This is an exploratory qualitative research. The records were constructed from six adolescents between 16 and 19 years old and the data were analyzed through discourse analysis (Pêcheux) in order to guide some actions stemming from psychosocial project called Creative and Solidarity Community. The results show that for some adolescents, adolescence came without much demarcation, as continuation of life, bringing only greater responsibilities with the domestic tasks and the care of the younger siblings. For others, adolescence allowed a little more freedom. Other reports, however, reveal the opposite: greater vigilance and control on the part of family members, which ratifies the particular way in which each adolescent experiences this stage of life. Thus, by prioritizing the look of these women on themselves, we hope to contribute to the strengthening of perspectives that may increasingly give voice to adolescents and, in this way, enable new possibilities for us to understand the adolescent process.

For a political conception of school conflict

Based on intervention-research fulfilled in two public schools in the state of Rio de Janeiro and the emergence of the reflexive groups performed with youngsters from the ninth grade of elementary school and the third year of high school, the present article analyzes the logic present in the conception of conflict in the school context. Within this scenario fights, discussions, controversies, dissensions, disagreements emerge daily. In a space in which normatization is mostly perceived as care, an end to control and to train young people to become skilled labor in the future, the deviation serves as the starting point for definition of the norm. The conflict can be understood from a positivist look at the individual, generalizing, individualistic, intimate, representative - here Psychology emerges, insofar its intervention is based on the diagnostic prevention of disorders and dysfunctions. Based on the theoretical-methodological framework of the Latin American Liberation Psychology and French Institutional Analysis, it is proposed to guide the conflict as relations of power, oppression, discrimination, inequality, social structures: a political conception of school conflict. It is, therefore, necessary to deindividualize the demands that emerge as conflict and bring tensions, social relations, coexistence, the politics of youth relations that inhabit schools.

Medicalization’s effects in adolescence crossing

In this article, we aim to think about the effects of the current medical-scientific discourse’s hegemony on the process of adolescence, from the presentation and discussion about the case of a 17 year old boy that we have followed during the years of 2013 and 2014 through a project of research-intervention, developed in outpatient child and adolescent mental health of the city of Rio de Janeiro. As we shall see, from 8 years old, this young man came to be distributed by the school to various mental health services with learning difficulties and agitation complaints in the school environment. Inserted in this way in the field of specialties (psychiatry, psychology, neurology), he was soon diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and mild mental retardation. From psychoanalysis, we intend to examine how the treatment of the malaise presented by the boy by a medicalizing diagnostic categorization strengthens its difficulty in engaging in the subjectivation work of adolescence, which would allow him to assume a desiring position and to build his own discourse about himself.

The Ação Rua case: interventions with children, adolescents and their families

Intervention with children and adolescents in street situation are discussed through the Ação Rua Case evaluation study. A Single Case Study with Embedded Analysis Units was used by means of ecological insertion, documentary analysis and focus groups with Adolescents, Families, Social Workers and Managers connected to the Service. The present study considers the three first years (2007-2009) of the case study, considering implementation and execution. Results, based on Bioecological Theory of Human Development, indicate that the Service comprised a direct microsystem, and increased the number and quality of the microsystems of the public served. Regularity and affective reciprocity were highlighted as elements of the proximal processes established, also perceived as formal/informal social support. The Service constant presence in the living spaces of the attended public created a face-to-face stability that contrasted to the unpredictability of the street situation, and went beyond the traditional limits of the street outreach approach. The importance of the social worker for the development of the intervention is emphasized. The lessons learned from the Ação Rua Case are relevant to examine on interventions aimed at the street outreach approach and socio-family support programs in different contexts. Limitations and suggestions for future studies are presented.

Critical research in a plot of narratives: untangling stories of sexual harassment on social media

Intervention-research and youths: entangling the production of marginalised lives

This article aims to discuss the intervention-research beyond a methodological perspective, focusing on it as an analytical tool. Our reflexions consist in emphasizing in an ethical-political position concerned with problematizations of the results that emerge from a production of knowledge which is undertaken by science. Besides, we relate this debate to the production of a youth which is taken as marginalised. The theoretical reference that supports our arguments is based on the foucauldian works in the social psychology field.

Weaving the net: the clinical case construction in the institutional care of young patients

Departing from the Freudian notion (1937/1975) of “construction”, we propose a research-intervention methodology, based on the singularity of the case to the detriment of universalizing practices, to be used with mental health teams that deal with young patients. We introduce a trainee student within the staff during the period of the case construction. We shall demonstrate the effects of the presence of this agent in the construction of the case of a young patient, entitled "On"

Political implications on critical participatory action research with youth

In this article we reflect on the political power of critical participatory action research (CPAR) with young people, regarding the transformations in micro and macro social plans and the process of knowledge production with the participants. We seek to problematize breakpoints of CPAR in relation to the traditional model of scientific research, considering four procedures: (dis) institutionalization, (dis) disciplining, the meeting between researchers and young people and the production of other possibilities of life. We understand that by considering the meanings produced by young people, recognizing them as agents of their individual and social histories, we are countering the still hegemonic vision of youth as potentially dangerous, irresponsible and depoliticized. The intervention research we advocate establishes an interface with scientific policies for the production of prudent knowledge, based on the intersectional feminist critique and the studies on subalternization processes. We will discuss three studies carried out with young people in different contexts, but similar in terms of their conditions of existence, marked by social exclusion, violence and discrimination of gender, race, place of residence and social class.

“Já é” slum comic: youths and peripheral complexities

The article proposes a reflection about methodological strategy of intervention guided by psychoanalysis and aimed at the young, black, male and peripheral population. It aims at inflecting on structural problems such as racial prejudice, juvenile’s mortality and criminality with a view to overcoming it. For this purpose, it analyzes the importance of the speech act that presents the teenagers in the urban scene, discusses the distance between the language of the adolescents and the public services, as well as its necessary change. It presents and analyzes the report of an experience of participatory construction of a comic book, through psychoanalytic conversations carried out in the territory, which addresses the difference between ‘asphalt’ and slum, revealing a complex binary that needs to be better explored to avoid false opposition. Finally, it presents assumptions that are essentials for a youth approach because considers its authorial gesture as necessary to write their presences in the city.

Group as a socio-educational device: research-intervention with adolescents who were sentenced to community service

This article presents some discussions from a doctoral thesis, which thought about specifics, principles and strategies for the use of group methodologies as devices to act in the care of eleven adolescents sentenced to measures in freedom. The study is the result of an intervention research, with adolescents, sentenced to community services, linked to a institution in the Distrito Federal. The article presents a summary of the results of the thesis, evidencing analyzes related to the meanings produced with adolescents on the concept of work, inherent in the obligation to provide community services. Under the prism of Historical-Cultural Psychology (LS Vygotsky), from the perspective of dialogism (M. Bakthin) and the problematization of the concept of group-device (RB Barros), the negotiation processes for the accomplishment of a collaborative and community activity with adolescents are analyzed. Subsequently, aspects related to the movements of the group, permeated by transformations and resignifications, are approached. Finally, we discuss the concept of a group as a socio-educational device that can be taken in the execution of socio-educational measures, in order to broaden the tools of care for adolescents and contribute to the deepening of the theoretical-methodological basis of practices in socioeducation.

"Pacification" in the peripheries: discourses on violence and the daily life of youths in Fortaleza

This article aims to analyze the discourses of youths and social workers on the phenomenon of there-establishment of criminal groups in Fortaleza between the end of 2015 and the middle of 2016, popularly known as "pacification", emphasizing the implications of the transformations of urban violence dynamics in the daily life of youths inserted in contexts stigmatized and more affected by the lethal violence in the city. Methodologically, the study was based on an intervention research in two regions of the city with the high esthomicide rates in 2015 and 2017, but which experienced significant declines in these rates in 2016, the period of validity of the pact between rival factions in the local context. Young men aged between 15 and 29 participated in the intervention research, and professionals of both sexes who work with young people through semi-structured interviews and discussion groups. Based on the analysis of there search subjects' discourses, their results address the daily lives of young people before, during and after the "pacification", highlighting the different meanings attributed to this event and how, under the rhetoric of peace, logics of warand violence were perpetuated by other means, affecting mainly juvenile segments with rights historically violated and whose lives are considered disposable.
