The present work intents to stimulate reflection over concepts and prejudices found in the processes of destinations’ image construction and managing, as part of Tourism strategic planning, specially concerning the fields of Marketing and Communication ”“ codependent, but never totally coincident areas. Definitions, techniques, visions and managing styles are often taken for granted, despite the possibility of being based on paradigms which the original areas, in fact, had already outreached. From a very brief review of great authors’ recognized works on Tourism, Philosophy, and Marketing, we will analyze some points where divergent views might have crystalized, in order to overstep them, forwarding to a new and productive convergence, in a relation of mutual support.

Community Based Tourism: the reconstruction of identities since the experience of the meeting

This article aims at the theoretical-conceptual discussion about the idea of identity in the context ofCommunity Based Tourism [TBC]. In this sense, it suggests an interpretation that considers the transformations in the identity dynamics as part of the local patrimony. TBC is an alternative to conventional tourism and has as a brand the community's leading role in the management of tourismactivities. The ways of life are part of the process of reconstruction of identities at each encounter with the other and is present in the elements that constitute the local attractiveness. Recognizing the constant reconstruction of identities is fundamental in the analysis of potential for the development of this type of tourism. We intend this work to be a stimulus to the debate on TBC development processes and identities analysis.

Cuba is an attractive and complex tourist destination to analyze due to its many, varied, interesting resources as well as its privileged geographical location among the Caribbean islands and Central America. Besides, it acquired significant geopolitical importance in the last sixty years with regards to Latin America and considering the divergent relations with its nearby, powerful neighbor, the United States of America. In 2018 tourism as a source of revenue held the second place in the Cuban economy, with an average annual growth of 11% between 1990-2007 and 6% until 2016, when it adjusted to the international reality. From 23 March 2020 Cuban tourism came to a halt with the closure of ports and airports, a measure dictated by the growing numbers of people infected with the novel Coronavirus, SARS COV2  resulting from contact between Cubans, tourists and migrants presenting the virus, often asymptomatically. From the onset of Covid-19 in Cuba the treatment available to patients, irrespective of their being nationals or tourists, was given completely free of charge, including testing, medicines and hospital care. At this point in time, it is difficult to forecast how long the recovery process will take amidst a strong recession of economies worldwide, together with the additional difficulties Cuba must face while subjected to the United States of America imposed on economic, financial and commercial blockade since 1961. Promoting safety and an integrated, inclusive health system could be a positive action to recover international tourism as preoccupation with their wellbeing will be a deciding factor for tourists choosing a destination to visit post pandemia. This pandemia has demonstrated, more clearly than ideology or discourse, the inexorable need and the vital importance of public goods: health, research, education, not forgetting the solidarity among people.

‘We are in the Full Sea’! Reflections on pandemic times Covid-19, considering the web of subjective tourist-communicational ecosystems

The essay presents reflections on contemporary signs, expanded in the scenario of the Covid-19 Pandemic, considering the web of subjective tourist-communicational ecosystems. It is based on studies carried out at Amorcomtur! Study Group on Communication, Tourism, Lovingness and Autopoiesis, in a transdisciplinary and holistic perspective, with a complex and ecosystemic epistemological-theoretical dimension. The Covid-19 Pandemic brought about the need to expand planetary awareness, in the sense of redirecting individual and collective actions. The sea of illness and collective deaths demands new, more loving and ethical views, through multiple existential windows: the eyes, the screens, the multiple prisms of life, of Science. We look for ways of 'over-living' in the Great Journey.

LGBT Tourism: Bibliometric application in the scientific research of Graduate Programs of Tourism in Brazil (1997 - 2019)

LGBT Tourism (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transsexual) is characterized by the public DINK, pink money, and LGBT Pride Parades, fragile representations in the face of the opportunity of the segment. This important public for the market suffers little academic attention since there is a low scale of scientific production on the subject in national and international journals, which justifies performing a bibliometric analysis of the dissertations defended between 1997 and 2019 in the Graduate Programs of Tourism of twelve national universities. Thus, the objective is to analyze the seven dissertations that address LGBT Tourism, presenting their main contributions; as well as establishing a network with the main theoretical references of the theme. It concludes that research on LGBT and Tourism should be stimulated by constituting a promising instrument that fills the social, economic, and biopolitical gaps that encompass the tourism aspects.

Travel and Tourism: Emília Snethlage and Heloisa Alberto Torres the scientists and travelers of the 20th century Amazon

The trips in the Amazon region bring up many perspectives of research in differentareas of knowledge. Studies in history, mainly, show themselves as windows to thenotion of that space that has always taken over the Eurocentric imaginary. AndTourism has also sought to expand investigations about the region, based ontheories of travel. Travelers and naturalists were the main characters who came andlanded here to write, paint and study the natural and human components of theregion. These male travelers comprised a majority. But, women were also presenthere, exploring and researching the Amazon, specifically the State of Pará. Sciencewas one of the main pillars for the exploration of the Amazon to become part of theexperience of these and, perhaps, “first and first tourists ”. The objective of thisresearch is to present how two scientists, a German Emília Snethlage and aBrazilian Heloísa Alberto Torres developed research in the Amazon of Pará andfrom their studies point out a possible connection with the History of Tourism in theregion. These two scientists became important names in the natural and socialsciences, respectively, in Brazil and in the world. The theoretical approach of thisarticle is built on the History of Science and Tourism. Going through the study ofGender, as the focus is two female scientists. The methodology supported inHistory, where the sources in libraries such as Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, andin websites of the National Digital Library and the collection of the National Archivesof Rio de Janeiro are the objects of analysis of the travels of these scientists.Instruments used are travel reports, letters, newspaper clippings, publications inwhich these researchers' incursions appear. Among the main results to date, thetravels of these women scientists included elements that today are understood astourist facilities, such as: lodging, transport, food, networks of guides. It is interestingto note how these surveys come close to understanding how the region wasinvestigated by them. And even more so, their letters and reports show how thesetrips, besides being scientific, envisioned the understanding of how History andTourism can come together as disciplines to understand how the tourist activitydeveloped in the Amazon region.
