Pedagogical principles of teaching games for understanding model: a praxiological view on sports teaching for understanding

The Teaching Games for Understanding, a sports teaching model for understanding, presents specific Pedagogical Principles to develop, didactically, the understanding of game logic. Regarding the internal logic, the Motor Praxiology demonstrates as a consolidated scientific theory that presents knowledge for analysis of games and sports. Thus, the purpose of this essay is to articulate the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) Pedagogical Principles with Motor Praxiology concepts. Through a theoretical research, the TGfU Pedagogical Principles characteristics were articulated with the Motor Praxiology knowledge. From this debate, a new Pedagogical Principle, the Characterization of Internal Logic, was proposed, as well as the necessity of the teacher to master the praxiological knowledge to wisely manipulate the conditioned games that he proposes in class, allowing the internal logic understanding.

McDowell's revised view of perceptual experience and the threat of the "pluralism anxiety"

In his essayAvoiding the Myth of the Given(AMG), McDowell gives a new charac-terization both of the content of perceptual experience and of the way in which it enables asubject to know. This new characterization has been charged to give rise to a “pluralism anxi-ety”. The goal of this paper is to explore in detail possible problems linked with the pluralismthat arise from McDowell’s change of mind about the content of perceptual experience, andto evaluate whether McDowell has conceptual resources to avoid them. The structure of thepaper will be the following: first we will reconstruct in detail McDowell’s revised view on per-ceptual experience as it is presented in AMG; then, we will reconstruct arguments in supportof the claim that McDowell’s revised position could give rise to a pluralism anxiety; finallyyet importantly we will discuss whether it is possible to offer an interpretation of McDowell’sposition which offers a way out of such difficulties.

Body knowledge in Physical Education: reflections on evaluation processes

In school Physical Education, the evaluation of body knowledge has been showing itself as a field still little explored by the academic debate. In this sense, the objective of this research was to analyze na evaluative process, involving the use of cards in Physical Education classes in high school, of the students’ body knowledge about handball. Based on action research, the investigation was carried out over six months with a group of 30 high school students. Collections were carried out through a class diary (produced by the teacher) and questionnaires applied to students. The use of the evaluations forms enabled the expressive capture of elements corresponding to the technical, tactical, volitional and physical aspects of the handball game, individually and collectively. Peer review allowed for the sharing of knowledge and provided students with the opportunity to ‘wacht’ the game closely and learn from it. This dynamic also contributed to the understanding and awareness of/whith the life’s history of the other in relation to sports experiences, promoting greater respect among students. The results of the resources used to assess students’ body knowledge in Physical Education classes express the need for a reorientation of pedagogical practices, which involves, among other aspects, a knowledge of the structures, dynamics and interactions characteristic of each body practice.

Dion Boucicault’s Robert Emmet?: the question of authorship and the season premiere at the McVicker's Theatre, Chicago, on November 5, 1884

The Irish playwright Dion Boucicault (1820-1890) spent most of his career in the United States, where he established himself, adapting crucial moments of Irish history to the stage. Robert Emmet (1884), a play produced at the end of his career, arouses questioning surrounding its authorship. The dramatic text was arguably written by the playwright Frank Marshall (1840-1889) at the request of the actor Henry Irving (1838-1905). This paper explores the question of Robert Emmet’s authorship and investigates the reception of the production in its unsuccessful opening season at the McVicker’s Theatre in Chicago in November, 1884, and Boucicault’s part in it.

The war on the plate: a brief analysis of problem of meat supplies in Rio Grande do Sul during Second World War

The Vargas Era, over the years, has proved to be a very important period to research the history of the labor movement and Brazilian labor legislation, but one cannot look at this period without considering the external conjuncture. From 1939 to 1945, the outbreak of the Second World War, Brazil remained neutral until 1942, but the reflections of this conflict were felt by Brazilians from the first moments. The lack of basic necessities became part of the daily life of the population. Beef, the staple of working-class food, has been increased in price; On the other hand, this was an opportunity for cattle ranchers and refrigerator owners. Thus, the objective in this article is to analyze how this new context was administered by the government and the workers. For this, we will use a process of Labor Justice of Porto Alegre and newsfrom the newspaper Correio do Povo.

Construction of an automated experimental device for the determination of the Planck’s constant with Arduino platform aid

By modeling a radiant body as a set of harmonic oscillators, the physicist Max Planck in 1900  hypothesized that the oscillators of substances may have only a discrete set of energy, and in the process of interaction with the radiation field, can change its energy in portions equal to . Planck's constant  is one of the fundamental constants of physics, along with others such as the charge and mass of the electron, the speed of light, and the Boltzmann constant. As the subsequent development of quantum physics shows, all mechanical moments of atoms, molecules, electrons, and nuclei are expressed in units of . In addition, Planck's constant enters into a series of relations that play a fundamental role in quantum physics and that determine the discrete states of the micro particles, the wave-particle duality of their properties. In this paper, it is proposed to determine Planck's constant by studying the characteristic curves of semiconductor LASERs obtained with the aid of an automated experimental model containing an Arduino board connected to an electronic circuit with these electronic devices. The experimental model consists of the following parts: optical bench with supports; ruler with zero centered, where the main maximum and secondary maximums of the spectrum of the light emitted by the electronic devices obtained with the aid of the diffraction network are projected; one-dimensional diffraction grating with known period; LASER pointer semiconductor; Arduino Uno board with electronic circuit that communicates with the computer via USB; computer. The Arduino platform for technical equipment is recommended for the educational process. Taking into account the ease of programming and its ability to study physical processes in real time, it is proposed to use Arduino boards in the modernization of automated general physics didactic laboratories manipulated remotely.

Capitalism crisis, ultraliberal politics and the extinction of the ministry of sports

We are facing a different scenario from the last decades, as the deepening of the capital crisis in the last four years has impacted Brazil and Latin America with a force that could destroy social rights and sovereignties more abruptly. The aim of this theoretical essay is to analyze the impacts of ultra-liberal policies for sport in Brazil. Especially with regard to the reduction of the Union budget for public sports policies and, as a consequence, the end of the Ministry of Sport. Through a perspective of analysis of the public budget for sports policies and studies of the area that were dedicated to the theme, we intend to infer the main developments for sports policies as social and public law.

Exchanging glances: establishing a conversation between E.P. Thompson and Angela Davis

The following paper intends to establish a dialogue between the works of the Marxist historian E.P. Thompson and the philosopher and black activist Angela Davis. It is a preliminary effort that, although it has some hardships in creating channels of communication between such different works, it can discusses some categories such as experience, social relations, exploitation, oppression and alienation, from debates based upon texts and works written by authors close to Davis and Thompson. In this way, we hope that this paper can contribute to a much broader debate around what the Social History of Labor may gain when we have a more sensitive way of looking to the different social relations of dominance and resistance in capitalism.

Meaningful learning in mathematics education: a look through theses and dissertations

Effects of aqueous extracts of Ipomoea carnea subsp. fistulosa on the development of Chrysomya albiceps larvae (Wiedemann, 1819) (Calliphoridae: Diptera)

Plants of the genus Ipomoea are known to cause lethal poisoning in farm animals. However, little is known about the effects of their toxins on veterinary and forensic invertebrates. This study aimed to determine the effect of an aqueous extract of Ipomoea carnea subsp. fistulosa at different concentrations on larval development time and size of immature Chrysomya albiceps (Wiedemann, 1819), a species of forensic importance in Brazil. C. albiceps L1 larvae were subjected to three treatments: control (ground beef only), 80 g ground beef mixed with 40 mL of plant extract) and 80 g of ground beef mixed with 80 mL of plant extract. Larval development time until the pupal phase was statistically longer in the 40 and 80 mL extract treatments in relation to the control. The total length of the control larvae was significantly longer than with the extract treatments. The results suggest that the toxins present in I. carnea subsp. fistulosa slow the development of C. albiceps larvae.

A comparative analysis of models used in the study of Physics teacher's Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) in Brazil

The knowledge base of teachers has been the object of research in several areas of education, with different theoretical approaches, over many decades. Renowned authors in the field include Lee Shulman who introduced the concept of Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) to the academic debate in the 1980s. Despite the longevity of the PCK theme, the theoretical and methodological bases used in these investigations are scattered, there is no agreement regarding the concepts, terminology and components of the models adopted to study teachers' knowledge. In order to identify the different visions about the knowledge of physics teachers in the models, based on PCK, adopted in conducting research in Physics Teaching, a systematic review of the literature was conducted. After the identification of these, the original references of each model were studied, for which a comparative analysis was carried out to identify their similarities, divergences and gaps. This analysis indicates that mostly of the models contemplate the same components for characterization of the knowledge base of teachers. However, there are conceptual differences about the formation and development of this knowledge, as well as the delimitations of the comprehensiveness of each model. It is also noticed, by the temporal evolution of the adopted models, that there is a tendency to specialize in the modeling of the knowledge of Physics teachers.

The carters of Recife (1870-1890): organization, insubordination and power relations

The following article analyzes the disputes among the carters and the Locomotora Pernambucana Company for cargo transportation in Recife. At first it introduces the different means by which a commodity approached the capital of the province, and how the same was displaced in the territory between the harbour area, the railway stations and the commercial houses in general. Afterward, it refers to the end of the carters exclusivism in driving loads with the Locomotora advent. That was the period when the traditional carts started competing with animal-drawn rails. The main point of this study is the rivalry among distinct groups of an economic segment during the second half of the nineteenth century.

Discussing linear momentum and Newton's laws in inquiry classes of general physics 1 at the University
