Narratives that challenge silences: an interpretation of Antes de nascer o mundo, by Mia Couto
This article is about the silences that occur in texts, more specifically in literary texts and the symbolic territory of the spoken and silenced word. The constellation formed by the (un)real, the imaginary and the imagination produces different worlds that form a labyrinth of relationships that may be punctuated by life and death. In this paper, we analyze the literary work Antes de nascer o mundo by the Mozambican Mia Couto (2009) with its multiple incarnations of silence that challenge concepts such as memory, identity and tradition. It is understood that the writing of Mia Couto is transgressive, configuring echoes of the silences, as with the narrator Mwanito, who provides meaning to the silenced stories; both to the stories resulting from the imposition of the colonial process and to other stories that arise from the construction of an imagined community after the war, formed in an attempt to forget the violent process of colonization.

Global semantics and the constitution of discursive ethos discourse in indian discursive practices
This article discusses the plans of the global semantics and the constitution of ethos discoursive in indians discursive practices experienced by subjects of the indigenous population of the village tupiniquim Pau-Brazil, located in Aracruz-ES. The objective is to examine, in the speech The woman and the snake, the dimensions of the global semantic and discursive constitution of ethos in the functioning of cultural practices of everyday life experienced by these subjects in the light of discourse analysis of French, especially in perspectives that have been proposed by Maingueneau. We focused on analyzing the plans of the global semantics, especially the discursive ethos category. We found that the discursive practices of everyday life indigenous inferred gave us a key to understanding the constitution of the discursive ethos in the analyzed discourse, since it is also through them that knowledge and ideas become reality.

Discursive analysis of child advertisement: a bakhtinian perspective
This paper presents an analysis of a piece of a printed advertisement of Moxie Girlz doll (made by Estrela), published in Recreio Magazine, October/2010. Data analysis was qualitative, carried out in the light of theoretical and methodological tools provided by the linguistic ideas of Bakhtin Circle, presented and discussed in the book Marxism and the Philosophy of Language and in the essay Discourse in Life and Discourse in Art. After analysis of the piece of advertisement in question, we concluded that the advertising of Moxie Girlz doll as well as others with this same style, not only sells the toy (a doll), but also sells fashion, make up and a style of being. The children live in a consumerist society and bombarded by advertising, they have desires to acquire luxuries that in their imagination will transform their life in a better way. In this context, the sensual and erotic style, a model that does not match the emotional and cognitive age of the girls in question, is distorted and is presented as another form of attraction, fascination and seduction.

Comparative analysis of the discursive fields of Language Teaching and Law Professionals regulations in the light of the Holistic Activity Theory
The present work aims to suggest a comparative analysis between regulated professions, among which Law, and non-regulated professions, which need to be emancipated, among which is the case of the Language Teaching Professional. In this research, we have carried out a comparative analysis between the Ethics and Discipline Code of OAB, authorized by the articles 33 and 54, V, of the law nº 8906 of July, 4th , 1994 and the Opinion CNE/CES nº 492/2001, approved on April, 3rd , 2001, based on enunciative strategies that allow to identify or not characteristics of an emancipated profession. We have observed, at the end, dissonance between the analyzed systems, once the Language Teaching Professional fits into an allopoietic system, based on cognitive expectations, and, on the other hand, the Legal professional conforms to an autopoietic system, based on normative expectations. That justifies the fact of that the Law professional holds professional regulation, whereas the Language Teaching Professional does not have this regulation support.

Meaning construction within a beer advertisement: a Bakhtinian reading proposal
This work objectives to deepen, in some extent, the studies concerning the construction of meaning anchored in Mikhail Bakhtin. For that, we work with concepts such as expressive intonation, style, valuation, and discourse genres, anchored in diverse texts of the Russian philosopher. Then, we describe the selected object of study to be analyzed based on Bakhtinian postulates. The object is a beer advertisement conveyed in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in the year of 2011. Therein, we analyze the relation between linguistic and non-linguistic aspects, as well as in what way the comprehension of meaning is possible only by the association of the non-linguistic, with the linguistic aspects.

Theatresports: when a scene fails to trigger laughter
Pragmatic-cognitive processes involved in interpretation of humor that are closer to the casual dialogical interactions can be analyzed in theatresports, such as those proposed by Cia. Barbixas de Humor in Improvável – um espetáculo provavelmente bom (Improbable – a probably good show). For example, in Cenas improváveis (Improbable scenes), the actors are expected to improvise coherent scenes based on unexpected stimuli offered by the audience and raffled by the master of ceremonies. Starting from the assumption that the game requires ostensive-inferential skills and competencies guided by Sperber and Wilson (1986, 1995) notion of relevance, in this article we analyze a scene where the actors fail to get the intended comic effect.

A register of the intimate diary of Frida Kahlo analysed under a perspective semiological enunciative
This is a study that proposes to examine a register of the intimate diary what the painter Frida Kahlo produced in the last ten years of his life. For their analysis, we rest on the enunciative perspective of the language, taking as a support the text Semiology of the Language (1969), written by the linguist of the enunciation Émile Benveniste. In this text the author defends the idea of which all semiology of non-linguistic system resorts to the language for his interpretation, since that one “cannot exist otherwise in and for the semiology of the language” (BENVENISTE, 1989, p. 61). The language is the interpretante of all the systems, the linguistic ones and the non-linguistic ones. This work aims, so, through the analysis of the corpus, to show up that the language is the only system able to interpret itself and the other sign systems.

Utterance path taken by the word “system” in the texts on university quota-settling laws
This paper presents an analysis of eight legal texts, namely those that deal with reservation of allocations for students in public universities in the State of Rio de Janeiro. From a discursive perspective, which relates meanings to the ways socially constituted language takes hold of them (MAINGUENEAU, 1993), and based on Foucault’s (1969) concepts of archive and discontinuity, the focus of this analysis is the use of the word “system” in the preliminary part of organization of said laws, exactly at its outline presentation, which is the part of the legal text that presents a summary of the proposition stated in the law, and article 1st, which limits the object of the law.

Deontic modalization: necessity or obligation?
In this article, we analyze the expression of deontic modalization in three copies of the genre quoted to show that the notions expressed by linguistic marks in question are not always presented in a prototypical way. To undertake such analysis, it will be adopted a conception of language as discourse originated from a practical postulated by Benveniste (2005), in Linguistics Pragmatic (KOCH, 2009; PINTO, 1994) which has as its object of study the effects generated by the relationship of intersubjectivity, in the Theory of Argumentation within Language by Ducrot (1987) and the notion of prototype (ROSCH, 1976). About the genre in question, we noted that some occurrences of deontic modalization do not appear in a prototypical way due to the enunciation, a unique and singular act of an utterance production and the knowledge that the announcer demonstrates having of what is moral. We note that, although it is a phenomenon canonically attached to the conduct and the moral values center lines, the knowledge that the announcer has about certain fact determines how the linguistic mark will "act" in the statement.

The discourse representation from the fellowship at Jaguarão/Rio Branco border
Historically, the border region Brazil/Uruguay was marked by strong conflicts between Portuguese and Spanish folks, who fought by the territory occupation. These conflicts divided territorially and culturally the two Iberian folks involved. From this dispute scenery, lived in XVIII and XIX centuries, this research gets outlines in terms of the presumed fellowship relation lived by the current people who live in Jaguarão/Rio Branco border. The study was done in Jaguarão, located in the south of Rio Grande do Sul, which has the border with Rio Branco town, in Uruguay. Due to the geographical and cultural closeness between these two border areas, this research examines the fellowship representation in the Jaguarense voice related to the Rio-branquense. The kind of this study, interdisciplinary form, is qualitative based and it was elaborated by depth interviews, with two male people. The interviews were done based on Gaskell and Bauer (2002) assumptions, and the material used in the investigation was reviewed by the identity studies and based on the Bakhtin perspective and his Circle, especially in the following areas, constituent of the language: linguistic multilingualism, responsive comprehension and value accent. Along with the theoretical support help, it was verified that the voices from the researched people engage in a dialogue with other voices, and the difference and integration interrelation constantly reconstruct their identities, support and enquire the fellowship discourse.

“Leite Derramado” and the anachronistic perception of one narrator between two times
: In this paper, we propose a critical interpretation of the book Leite Derramado, by Chico Buarque. The objective is to analyze the memorial reconstruction and the anachronistic perception that Eulalio - the central character of the narrative - has on its economic situation and on the history of his family. We realize that the social and historical changes - suffered by Brazil between 1907 and 2007 - do not alter the hereditarily delayed and centenary look of the narrator. Thus, he remains oblivious to social changes and does not understand the relationship they retain with its financial decline. Therefore, we seek to highlight the roots of this inaccurate perception and the consequences of the incompatibility between it and the social-historical reality of contemporary Brazil.

Interaction between explicit and implicit knowledge in L2 learning: what are the contributions brought by neurolinguistics to this discussion?
This paper brings back an old discussion in studies on L2 acquisition, about how the interaction between explicit and implicit knowledge of a learner happens. The main hypotheses on how these L2 types of knowledge interact are presented and we make an attempt to bring the contribution of neurolinguistics to the discussion. Neuroimaging shows that the brain has a certain specialization to different types of memories. However, theoretical models demonstrate that these memories interact and practice may automatize knowledge.

Factors that influence the performance of a foreign language learner
Nowadays, there is a growing need and importance for learning another language. Along with this consensus, it is believed that the younger you learn a foreign language (L2), the better your performance will be.It is the case because the age at which learning begins (age of acquisition) has been considered a determining factor for the success of learning, and thus the subject-learner can achieve proficiency levels similar to those achieved by native speakers. In this paper we propose to examine this issue, since it has promoted a lot of discussion. We present some studies that compare the syntactic processing of a foreign language to a native language’s one. These studies illustrate that we should consider psychological and social factors, once they affect the processing of language. Our aim is to emphasize that the performance of individuals in a foreign language is affected by a number of different factors and not only by biological and maturational issues.
