O paradigma holístico é apontado para a Gestão do Conhecimento como uma alternativa para o desenvolvimento de modelos voltados ao intento de gerir o conhecimento. Mediante a esse registro, esse estudo tem por objetivo analisar a aderência do modelo de Davenport e Prusak (1998) ao que se denomina por Gestão do Conhecimento holística. Por meio da abordagem qualitativa e fazendo uso do método de Análise de Conteúdo a referida obra foi examinada e sua adesão foi representada por meios quantitativos. Por resultado, o modelo de Davenport e Prusak (1998) se adere em 84,6 pontos percentuais ao que se denomina por Gestão do Conhecimento holística, conforme delineamento proposto nesse estudo. Conclui-se que há necessidade de desenvolvimento de novos modelos que contemplem todas as dimensões apresentadas nesse estudo. A análise de outros modelos seguindo os procedimentos desenvolvidos nessa pesquisa, bem como o desenvolvimento de um modelo holístico para a Gestão do Conhecimento, são sugestões de pesquisas futuras.

Economically affordable mobile devices and the growth of application stores have contributed to popularize augmented reality. This work evaluated to evaluate the public perception about the use of augmented reality for the dissemination of information. Informational objects in augmented reality, with focus on children and teenagers up to 18 years old, were developed and distributed in 48 localities of the outpatient clinic of a pediatric hospital. These informational objects were presented to 334 participants and their companions, who could evaluate them by using a satisfaction scale from 0 to 10 and a qualitative question. The average score attributed by the participants’ companions to the augmented reality was 8.2, with no significant differences by age or sex. In the qualitative analysis, five frequent themes were identified in 150 comments issued by the companions on augmented reality, which are: it is a new and interesting technology; it suits the child’s world; it is a form of fun; it transforms the hospital environment; and it requires other technological resources. In the process of data convergence, it was observed that, from the 150 comments, 133 (89%) were positive and 17 (11%) were negative. It has been concluded that augmented reality can help the process of information dissemination.

Este artigo apresenta um estudo exploratório e analítico sobre as dimensões características dos observatórios e seus elementos estruturantes. Um estudo de cenários e do ambiente em que os observatórios estão usualmente inseridos é desenvolvido por meio de uma análise SWOT. A revisão de literatura aborda aspectos relevantes quanto aos observatórios, como conceito, surgimento e trajetória, características, finalidade, temática e atuação, natureza e vinculação administrativa, suas atividades e produtos, e, por fim, seus processos, métodos e procedimentos. Espera-se com este estudo contribuir para a compreensão do estágio atual do tema de observatórios, com uma sistematização de seu campo de conhecimento, apresentação dos resultados da investigação, identificação das temáticas e abordagens praticadas, assim como, ao final, indicar lacunas e campos para exploração em futuras pesquisas.

The technological and informational scenario of contemporary society has demanded from the information professionals diversified knowledge to be applied in different perspectives, especially in contexts that involve the improvement of corporate processes. In the meantime, managing documents and information is a prerequisite in process mapping and modeling projects, since they support activities and  record  all  legal  and  regulatory  information  in the context. This work presents a stage of the Aurus Project. The  purpose  of  the  Project  was  to  specify  the  requirements for  the  development  of  an  information  retrieval  system.  The step  here  presented  presents  the  follow-up  of  Information Science  professionals  during  the  business  process  modeling activities performed by Computer Science professionals. The skills and abilities of the information professional developed at the stage, initially little recognized, resulted in documentary modeling of the process, impacting greatly on the final product of the Project. The results show the importance of interdisciplinarity by linking the practice of documentary studies to the specification of requirements of a management technology, besides demonstrating the applicability of the practice to other organizational contexts

A colaboração científica vem se configurando como uma resposta à profissionalização da ciência. Nesse cenário, a colaboração na ciência é uma estratégia adotada por pesquisadores, envolvendo uma atividade social que tem como meta viabilizar, facilitar e potencializar o desenvolvimento de pesquisas, principalmente aquelas de natureza empírica e/ou experimental. Acontece a partir do trabalho intelectual coletivo de pesquisadores, instituições ou países, formado por um sistema ou rede de colaboradores, que ao unir esforços tende a identificar semelhanças e traçar diferenças para produzir novas ideias. Nesse contexto, dada a importância da colaboração científica para a ciência contemporânea, este artigo tem por objetivo examinar aspectos teóricos e conceituais inerentes a esse método bibliométrico relacional, visando contribuir com os estudos brasileiros de discussão e aprofundamento da compreensão dessa temática. Apresentam-se o conceito de colaboração científica, os tipos de atividades colaborativas observados na atividade científica, suas motivações. Ainda, reflete-se sobre a relação entre o conceito de colaboração científica e de coautoria e os elementos teórico metodológicos envolvidos na construção das redes de coautoria na ciência.

O presente trabalho investiga as percepções e expectativas dos visitantes sobre os serviços ofertados no Museu de Ciências da Vida (MCV) da Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo. Apresenta um estudo exploratório, descritivo, de abordagem quantitativa, visando diagnosticar as dimensões da qualidade: Confiabilidade, Empatia, Garantia, Receptividade e Tangibi-lidade. A metodologia emprega uma pesquisa de caráter descritivo de natureza quantitativa, caracterizando-se como um levantamento do tipo survey. Os resultados indicam a validade e consistência da abordagem, evidência que os entrevistados salientam positivamente a dimensão tangibilidade e há um grau relativamente pequeno de insatisfação em relação às outras quatro dimensões. Conclui-se que a métrica Servqual é adequada apurar a qualidade em espaços de educação não formal e, especificamente no plano museológico pauta possí-veis melhorias no processo de desenvolvimento de serviços.

In Information  Science context, Subject  Analysis is considered one of the most important stages in Indexing and the indexer is the responsible for this activity. An interdisciplinarity with Linguistics, Cognitive Science and Logics is observed during the development of this activity by the indexer. The study discusses factors of these areas that interfere in Subject Analysis. Linguistic factors act in concert with logical and cognitive factors in the intellectual activities that comprise Subject Analysis. So close is their interaction that it is not possible to determine where the influence of one begins or finishes. This reference base is required in order to understand what the text in question is about and in order to assimilate new knowledge. When analyzing a text, the indexer searches the reference base for stored information about the theme of the text and if found comprehension occurs; however, if not found, comprehension is thwarted

Com esta edição, a Brazilian Journal of Information Sceince – BRAJIS inaugura um novo momento em sua trajetória de doze anos, fruto de uma reformulação em seu processo e em sua gestão editorial. Nesse sentido, um primeiro aspecto a se considerar é a criação de uma dupla editoria, agora a cargo da conjunção de esforços entre um Editor Científico e um Editor Gerente, resultando, assim, em uma maior racionalização de esforços e agilidade no processo editorial. Do mesmo modo, reformulou-se a configuração dos editores assistentes, de modo a que cada qual possa envolver-se mais diretamente com as diferentes áreas temáticas abarcadas pela revista. Um terceiro aspecto a considerar é a migração para a versão 3.1.1 do sistema OJS, com vistas a sua futura inserção no Portal de Periódicos Unesp, ora em fase de estruturação em um esforço conjunto da Pró-Reitoria de Pesquisa com a Coordenação Geral de Bibliotecas da Unesp.

The objective of the study is to identify the theoretical-practical elements of Archival Science present in the scope of scientific production in Organization and Representation of Knowledge in Brazil through an analysis of ISKO Brazil Annals between 2011 and 2017. The study is justified by the possibilities of theoretical and practical advance of the conceptual and methodological approaches between Archives and ORIC in view of the improvement of the quality of information retrieval. The survey identified a growing presence of technical processing issues in Archival Science in the Applied dimension and a lack of approaches in the Epistemological and Social dimensions.

The article aimed to analyze the scientific publications in the scope of Competitive Intelligence (CI) in relation to organizational management, during the period from 2006 to 2017. The Roadmap model was used, following the steps of Systematic Bibliography Review (SBR). The articles analyzed showed a great concentration of publications in Spain, Brazil, and South Africa. Important characteristics of the CI were pointed out in the articles, presented as a strategic management tool for decision making, aiming at understanding the competitive environment and analyzing competitors, enabling act with intelligence. Because it is an interdisciplinary topic, involving knowledge at least in areas such as management and information, it favors partnerships between research institutions. For future research, it is suggested to understand the applicability of the IC in other segments, such as agribusiness, a complex sector and full of competitive challenges.

The objective of this study is to identify relevant literature fragments on the development of information competence in the elderly in the Scielo and Scopus databases. The methodology used involves the search for keywords and analysis of adherence of the results to the proposed theme. The results pointed to thirteen international studies involving the areas of applied social sciences, health sciences and computer science. In terms of Ibero-America, five results were recovered on health literacy, which has been a movement investigated in the field of health.

The term Big Data refers to the large volume of data produced and made available in digital environments. Throughout the last years new models of representation have been proposed to improve the forms of representation of information in digital environments. The present work is linked to an ongoing research project, funded by FAPESP and CNPq agencies, and aims to analyze the principles underlying Big Data and its relationship with the new Resource Description Framework (RDF) representation patterns; Simple Knowledge Organization System (SKOS) and Onto-logy Web Language (OWL). The research has a theoretical character and a qualitative approach, as it seeks to present characteristics aimed at describing, understanding and explaining the relationships between Big Data and the new models of representation. From the theoretical survey carried out, it was verified that the representation models analyzed contribute to the interconnection of large volumes of data without losing the context in which they originated, favoring a better understanding of Big Data and the new paradigms of representation in digital environments.

O conceito de OVA se aproxima do conceito de recursos informacionais, sendo descrito como fontes capazes de suprir as demandas de informação de um individuo ou de uma coletividade nas mais variadas áreas do conhecimento, recorrendo a formatos e suportes diferenciados. A informação cientifica, informação tecnológica, informação cientifica e tecnológica e a comunicação cientifica são classificados como recursos informacionais. A Organização e Representação da Informação utiliza dos conceitos e instrumentos e processos para o tratamento da informação, como: descrição, classificação, indexação, armazenamento e, posteriormente, a recuperação dessa informação que, se executada de forma coerente, pode gerar a produção de conhecimento. A criação de um OVA se caracteriza como um processo que necessita destes processos para ser estruturado e para que suas informações sejam recuperadas. Neste sentido, o objetivo deste artigo é discutir o OVA como um elemento que, tendo todas as características descritas, pode ser incluído nas discussões referentes à metadados e aos processos de recuperação da informação por sua característica de recurso informacional. Considera-se que o OVA possui importância significativa quando percebido no âmbito da Organização e Representação da Informação por ser um recurso informacional utilizado na organização e na recuperação de informações para a construção de material didático, no entanto, ainda necessita de maiores incursões teóricas que elucidem as perspectivas possíveis de discussão.

It discusses the concepts of organization and representation of knowledge as fundamentals for the understanding of thesauri and ontologies took as modalities of knowledge organization systems. The analysis of the complementarity relationships between the two instruments is necessary to reaffirm the conception that the technological and, above all, the categorial aspect brings them closer instead of isolating them. In subordinating the concepts of thesauri and ontologies to the broader concept of knowledge organization systems, it reflects on some of its theoretical and applied implications. Such reflections are guided by the way each instrument understands associative conceptual relationships. It is concluded that the technological apparatus used to characterize the concepts and their relationships in the ontologies contributes to the construction of more sophisticated thesauri from when considering the need to make explicit the concepts and the conceptual relationships that the instruments aim to establish. In another direction and in a complementary way, the categorial and faceted analysis model used in the construction of thesauri also contributes to the construction of semantically and structurally denser ontologies.

Information has been a veritable mechanism in the constant search for knowledge so as to attain developmental objectives. In the same vein, information is vital in the life of all individuals towards the realization of socio-political, economic, and developmental goals, it also serves just the same importance for the survival of incarcerated persons. Adopting correlational study method, this study seeks to define the attitude of inmates toward the prison library and its effect on their psychological wellbeing. Two prisons - Port Harcourt Maximum Prison, Rivers State and Oko Prison, Benin City, Edo State, both in Nigeria, were selected for the study. From the population of convicted inmates in both prisons, 440 males and females were randomly sampled to generate data.A structured questionnaire divided into two sections - attitude scale and psychological wellbeing scale, was used in data collection. Out of the 440 sampled inmates, 393 responded correctly to the questionnaire resulting to 89% response rate. Data was collated and analyzed using descriptive analysis of mean and standard deviation, and linear regression. The results indicated that inmates in both prisons have a positive attitude towards the prison library, and they are also psychologically adjusted in prison. The result also reveals that there is a high positive relationship between inmates' attitude towards the prison library and its psychological wellbeing (r = .540).The study concludes that bibliotherapy can further enhance the effectiveness of other reformation and rehabilitative programs for inmates, and therefore, recommends that the penal system should embrace bibliotherapy as a rehabilitation program for the reformation and rehabilitation of societal offenders.

Linked Data is a set of best practices designed to deal with data and information retrieval problems in the Web environment and can be applied to the bibliographic domain as a way to ensure that libraries share their data effectively. The objective is to analyze how the relationship between bibliographic data and Linked Data has been approached by Information Science professionals, based on the Systematic Review of Literature (RS). RS is a bibliographic review plus rigorous criteria that allow the results to be audited and the research to be continued from the point where it was interrupted. As a result, it was analyzed 56 articles in which it was observed that the main concerns in discussing the subject are: to submit projects for the adaptation of bibliographic data to Linked Data; discuss the process of converting bibliographic data to Linked Data; and conduct conceptual discussions about adequacy. It is concluded that, although the articles present many challenges, it is unanimous among the documents analyzed that adequacy would be advantageous for libraries.

Current Information and Communication Technologies facilitate the development of digital information environments that include entertainment, tourist information and so on. In this sense, we have launched the tourism websites for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Transvestite and Queer (LGBTQ), which are created to provide tourist information and information for this public. These web sites have a wealth of vocabularies and specific labels for this community, so they need to be repre- sented and structured to facilitate Information Retrieval. The objective of this work was to analyze the Information Architecture with a focus on the labeling system and approaches of semiotics in the. The methodology used was non-participant observation on the website, for the data collection was used check-list based on the elements described by Rosefend, Morville and Arango (2015). Generally speaking, the website offers the services and news made available to its users, presupposing innovations in its services with regard to a space composed of convergent languages, where it is possible to divulge. In conclusion, these representations are extremely important, which corroborates the visibility of the website and the insertion of the LGBTQ community

Nowadays, huge databases are produced in a wide range of domains due to the evolution and the massive use of the Information and Communication Technologies. Therefore, the development of instruments for extracting information from Big Data and fostering actionable knowledge in Decision-Making Processes arise interest by several organizations. In this context, the evolution of data ? information ? knowledge requires the synergy of competences in a new domain, the Data Science. Among the activities of that domain, can be cited: obtaining data from various sources distributed on the web; creating models for handling data and metadata; and planning the exploration of data and metadata to produce relevant information in Decision-Making Processes. Considering these statements, this paper aims to discuss the difference and the complementarity between the Big Data and Data Science concepts. As a result, it is pointed out that Big Data delineates the cloud computing services for storing, processing and distributing data resources. Regarding to Data Science, it is a concept related to the use of software for transforming data into information, supporting the decision makers when dealing with the Knowledge-Intensive Tasks.

The democratization of access to digital data in various formats that circulate on the Internet, that is, Big Data has been a recurring theme on the world stage. In this context, discussions on accessibility for people with disabilities seem to be central and coherent with issues of access to digital information. The present study seeks to identify the regulatory frameworks for inclusion and access and accessibility restrictions in web environments for people with disabilities. The methodology used is of a qualitative nature, being the exploratory research, since it started from the studies of Information Science, Information Professional, Accessibility and the Law of Access to Information and Big Data, to establish a link between such concepts. As a result, it presents and describes the performance of the information professional in all phases of configuring a site accessible to people with disabilities. It concludes that informational accessibility in web environments depends on the mobilization around the issue of universality and equal rights guaranteed in legal apparatuses, as well as training and preparation to deal with a subject as essential as informational accessibility.
