The article focuses on the internet activism of young Spanish emigrants within the collective Marea Granate (MG). The digital narratives produced by the collective, which aim to deconstruct the speeches of the Spanish government on the current migration resulting from the economic crisis of 2008, are analyzed. The qualitative methodology is constructed in the combination of documentary research, observation and interviews with members of the collective MG. The article concludes that the counter discourses production of Marea Granate attributes visibility to the condition of precariousness that provoked the emigration of Spaniards, besides it gives evidence of absent perspectives in the discourse of the government, like the adoption of austerity policies by Spain and European Union.

The objective is to investigate the consequences of the adoption of an essayistic language in films that revolve around the family background of the directors. Our hypothesis is that the essayistic language assumed by works operates a double transformation in home movies as files, documents: on the one hand, structure them narratively, giving new meaning to them; and secondly, it converts the intimate and private nature of these images in part of a public screening of the film. We intend to analyze Otto (2012) and Elena (2012), to finally signal that for Elena side reveals how new meaning to life through death, Otto does the reverse movement, reframes through birth.

This article explores the relationship between Stuart Hall and the cinema from three specific topics: 1) Hall’s work on concepts of difference, identity, representation and stereotype in his relationship with the cinema; 2) the impact of his thoughts on film production, especially in movies of the 1980s that directly portrayed the multicultural society and the ethnic issues of cultural hybridity, using as a case study the film My beautiful laundrette; and 3) more direct relationships he established with audiovisual production, whether in his relationship with black British cinema or how he was portrayed in the film The Stuart Hall Project.

O objetivo deste texto é apresentar, a partir de Stuart Hall, ferramentas cognitivas capazes não só de compreender a dimensão ontológica das manifestações nacionalistas brasileiras, como também de enfocá-las segundo uma análise dialógica ou discursiva. Longe de querer fixar seu pensamento, ora delimitando-o em uma escola (Estudos Culturais), ora restringindo sua aplicação à esfera do midiático, o que se procura aqui é a possibilidade interpretativa de seus conceitos a uma abrangência de temas relacionados à questão da identidade nacional.

Este artigo aborda, em primeiro lugar, a narrativa de Stuart Hall sobre as contribuições do feminismo para a formação dos estudos culturais. Em segundo, trata do desenvolvimento da crítica feminista no âmbito dos estudos culturais, sobretudo ingleses. Nessa trajetória, resgata as ideias de Hall sobre a problemática da(s) identidade(s). Essa dimensão de sua obra constitui a terceira via explorada, tema também relevante na produção teórica feminista. Sinaliza, ainda, encontros e desencontros desses desdobramentos no contexto nacional. Por fim, conclui que o tema merece uma análise em profundidade, sobretudo porque a questão da identidade ocupa lugar central na mesa da prática política e da teoria feminista atual.

A discussão neste artigo se articula a experiências de pesquisas de campo realizadas em quatro cidades brasileiras, Brasília, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro e Manaus, entre 2011 e 2015, tendo como fio condutor as negociações por pertencimento realizadas pelas comunidades de imigrantes contemporâneas no Brasil. A partir de questões levantadas por Stuart Hall em “Pensando a diáspora”, principalmente a questão da diáspora caribenha, discutimos a negociação dos novos pertencimentos e o desejo imaginário ao retorno à terra deixada. Explorar essa tensão é o objetivo deste artigo, trazendo o debate para as novas comunidades de imigrantes no Brasil.

This article advocates the relevance of Stuart Hall’s legacy for the study and practice of Community Communication, highlighting part of his production in the 1970s and 1980s, in which Marxian thought was more present. It is argued that the analysis of the various types of oppression and resistance that permeate the communicational practices only have to gain from its critical articulation to the general plan of the class struggle. It is defended, in epistemological, theoretical and methodological terms, a rapprochement between Cultural Studies and the Political Economy of Information, Communication and Culture, as a movement capable of revealing little explored horizons for the praxis of Community Communication.

O texto apresenta um mapa de autores e perspectivas para a abordagem da comunicação intersubjetiva. Os antecedentes se encontram nas discussões desenvolvidas no marco do grupo de investigação “Comunicación Intersubjetiva” da Asociación Mexicana de Investigadores de la Comunicación (AMIC). No primeiro momento, são oferecidos alguns elementos para compreender as diferenças básicas entre a comunicação interpessoal e a comunicação intersubjetiva. Posteriormente, são apresentados autores-chave – procedentes da sociologia (Mead, Schütz, Sennett e Collins) e da filosofia (Heidegger, Habermas e Onfray) – para a abordagem da comunicação intersubjetiva; e agregamos mais dois autores, cuja produção é, em nosso entender, eminentemente interdisciplinar (Elias e Maturana).

The television series Cuéntame cómo pasó (2001-) employs both fiction and a documentar approach to create a telling portrait of the final years of the Franco dictatorship in Spain and the transition of the country to Democracy through a protagonist family named Los Alcántara (The Alcántara). From the more than 250 broadcasted episodes the object of analysis in this article is the episodes that are considered as special, those which investigate the cultural meaning of the era through the universe created in the series. This focus enables us to understand how the dramatic force of Cuéntame como pasó permits the creation of diverse and individual episodes, thanks to the continuous self-referential dramatic games at play.

The main purpose of this paper is to consider possible radio listeners’ profiles that can be used in a converging communication context. Based on literature review, we observe listeners’ role, as well as communication exchanges over radio’s history, and we think over reception in the age of convergence. We work with the habitus concept, according to Pierre Bourdieu and Norbert Elias, to analyze listeners and their relations towards radio. We also rely on Reception and on Digital Communication Studies to complement the theoretical discussion. Eight listeners categories have been created to understand these types of action regarding conventional and expanded radio.

Trata-se este trabalho de um estudo sobre as características específicas do eleitor indeciso em relação ao cargo de governador do estado de Goiás no pleito de 2014. A opinião deste tipo de eleitor compõe uma importante referência para a compreensão dos processos de formação da opinião pública eleitoral, principalmente por seu grande crescimento nos últimos anos. Este trabalho surgiu a partir dos dados colhidos diretamente de eleitores indecisos, no contexto de pesquisa qualitativa de recepção de televisão por mediação familiar, feita com o horário gratuito de propaganda eleitoral das campanhas para governador em 2014. A partir dos dados obtidos foi possível perceber que o processo que envolve a indecisão do voto é mais complexo e completo do que tem sido suposto, possibilitando a noção do “indeciso crítico” e de modalidades específicas que buscam descrever as características do processo de indecisão eleitoral.

Com o objetivo de participar no debate em torno do conceito de mediatização, este artigo analisa os seus contributos para os estudos de comunicação e media. Iniciamos este percurso com a análise dos media-como-meio-ambiente na vida contemporânea, para debatermos em seguida questões centrais para esta área de estudos: a relação entre os media e causalidade e a centralidade dos media nas teorias que conceitualizam a sua relação com a sociedade, bem como a sua relevância interdisciplinar.

Este artigo aborda a questão da memória a partir da fotografia e suas possíveis alterações advindas do aumento exponencial da produção e do compartilhamento de imagens. A partir tanto de uma filosofia da fotografia (Barthes, Virilio, Flusser) quanto de uma filosofia da imagem e do imaginário (Belting, Bachelard, Durand, Eliade, Merleau-Ponty), problematiza-se a memória como portadora de passado num contexto de efemeridade do atual e de dissolução da estabilidade de categorias como o tempo e o espaço. Propõe-se a ideia de memória como antecipação mais do que rememoração.Conclui-se que o papel da fotografia, apesar da desmaterialização e destemporalização desta última, mantém-se intacto para a memória antecipatória, que atualiza o passado mítico para atender o desejo pelo devir.

From the discussion on happy life norms, I direct the investigative focus from media representations to the internet’s emotional courts, proposing the construction of a theoretical-methodological reference framework to analyze the discussions on the emotional posture of two women: a prostitute who declared to be “happy” with her profession, in a campaign of the Brazilian Ministry of Health; and a mother who revealed to “hate” the experience of motherhood, in answer to a Facebook challenge. The examination of the impact of these two cases will provide a vivid panorama of the implications of affective ideals that, along with other disciplinary forces, constrain and produce identities.

Focused on the Stuart Hall's border thinking, this article problematizes the importance of culture studies about the communication forms as socio-cultural practices at the Amazon region. It analyzes seven Master's dissertation that reassert the present situation of the Ja­maican intellectual in Brazilian North region, showing thus: a) dynamic and multifaceted processes of the construction of identities; b) communication forms and technologies that diversify and disclose. The thought established in these analyzed works based the contribu­tion of Hall's thought and socio-cultural practices at the other end of Brazil.

In the book 24/4: Late capitalism and the ends of sleep, Jonathan Crary presents several examples to discuss the interferences of the capitalism and technological development on the humankind. The intense relationship with gadgets, the submission to the labor logic and the speed of productivity, as well as the man’s devotion to material consumption are highlighted by the author as collateral effects of the neoliberal globalization. The 24/7 universe defended by Crary surrounds our lives and binds us to a restless reality.

O texto desenvolve um percurso histórico da institucionalidade cultural no Brasil, apontando seus desafios e dilemas. A institucionalidade comporta múltiplas dimensões, dentre elas, administrativas, gerenciais, financeiras, legislativas, organizacionais e trabalhistas. Como o estudo recorre à bibliografia existente, algumas dimensões foram priorizadas, inclusive devido à fragilidade das informações disponíveis. A proposição do estudo é que o procedimento histórico pode contribuir para elucidar avanços, retrocessos e impasses da institucionalidade da cultura no Brasil.

A popularidade dos memes de internet como itens de comunicação apresenta uma série de questões de investigação, incluindo as caraterísticas de todas as suas ligações com o conceito original de meme, tomado da biologia. Além disso, um aspecto que demanda pesquisa é a forma como a exploração desses itens serve a um propósito mais amplo de comunicação, como mecanismos para indivíduos ou grupos, ou como eles impactam a sociedade como um todo. Este artigo apresenta uma revisão de perspectivas sobre memes, e propõe analisá-los como recursos retóricos, propondo uma interpretação geral desses itens como menomas, e concentrando a atenção em uma iteração particular, a macro imagem meme que, sugere-se, deva ser chamada de LOL.

In what way the empowerment process in Quilombola community Rio dos Macacos has produced a reflexive capacity and new sociabilities? We propose this reflection based on the thought of Stuart Hall. We consider that Quilombola communities rely on an accrual of diasporic experiences to reinforce resistance movement. In the empowerment process of Rio dos Macacos community, we have observed the reflexive capacity within the stories, documents and on the campaign "Somos todos Rio dos Macacos" [We are all Rio dos Macacos"]. New sociabilities were established on the campaign, in 2012, as well as in the oficial territory delimitation as a quilombo remainder community, in 2015.
