O diagnóstico de enfermagem Troca de gases prejudicada apresenta forte relação com o funcionamento cardio-respiratório, mas sua identificação muitas vezes é realizada sem evidências científicas. Estudo transversal com o objetivo de investigar e comparar o comprometimento de indicadores do diagnóstico de enfermagem supracitado em pacientes com Síndrome Coronariana Aguda, Infarto Agudo do Miocárdio e Insuficiência Cardíaca Congestiva. O instrumento contemplou indicadores do estado de saúde da Classificação dos Resultados de Enfermagem (NOC), organizados em uma escala de 1 a 5. Com base nesta escala não foi identificado o diagnóstico em estudo, entretanto, observou-se alterações nos indicadores profundidade da respiração e sonolência, o que pode indicar um possível estado de risco. Identificaram-se diferenças estatisticamente significantes para alguns indicadores em relação ao gênero e aos diagnósticos médicos. Os resultados obtidos possibilitam uma reflexão acerca das necessidades específicas apresentadas por estes pacientes e representam um incentivo à elaboração de planos de cuidados individualizados. 

The nursing diagnosis Impaired gas exchange presents strong relation with the cardiac and respiratory function, but its iden­tification is many times accomplished without scientific evidences. A cross-sectional study aimed at comparing indicators of impaired gas exchange in patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome, Acute Myocardial Infarction and Heart Failure. The instrument contemplated health status indicators of Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC), organized in a scale of 1 to 5. Based on such scale it was not identified the diagnosis in study, however, alterations were observed in the breathing depth and sleepiness indicators, what can indicate a possible risk status. Statistically significant differences were identified for some indicators regarding the gender and to the medical diagnoses. The results obtained contribute to a reflection about the specific necessities presented by those patients and represent a contribution for the elaboration of individualized care plans.

This research aimed at identifying beliefs that permeate the painful experience of women with fibromyalgia, according to the Rokeach’s theory. We interviewed 42 women attended in a Clinic of Orthopedics and Traumatology in the state of Ceara. We used a questionnaire that inquired about spiritual beliefs, coping with pain and personal values. The features which were identified were the following: central beliefs of unanimous consensus; Belief in God and seek of support in religion, zero consensus related to feelings of fear and belief that God helps ease the pain. As for the belief in authorities, which were also identified, God comes first and then the family. This classification allowed the visualization of beliefs that can be changed, encouraging the health professional to guide the participation of the family in the treatment of fibromyalgia. We can infer that spiritual beliefs can help in the confrontation of fibromyalgia and contribute to good mental health by being constantly strengthened by women. 

Esta pesquisa visa conhecer os fatores determinantes da prática de métodos contraceptivos entre universitárias da área da saúde. Aplicou-se formulário a 440 universitárias, com idade entre 18 e 24 anos da Faculdade Santa Terezinha (CEST). Pesquisa descritiva – quantitativa, a análise estatística foi realizada através do programa Epi-Info e do teste qui-quadrado. As universitárias responderam 66,7%, ter iniciado a vida sexual. Assim, 41,9%, das universitárias iniciaram a vida sexual com a idade entre 19 e 20 anos. Na primeira relação 65,2% usou algum método contraceptivo. Na primeira relação sexual, usaram o condom 80,3% e, atualmente, 82,7% delas utilizam o condom. Predomina a condição de solteira, dizem conhecer o condom afirmando não apresentar dúvidas com relação aos métodos. Afirmam, 78,9%, apresentar um parceiro ao ano, com freqüência sexual de uma ou mais vezes por semana, 56,9%. As universitárias não apresentam muitos parceiros, mas são freqüentes nas suas relações sexuais. 

The objective of this research is to know the determining factors of the practice of contraceptive methods between college students of the health area. It was used a form with structured questions applied to (440) colleges students aged (18 to 24) of the Faculdade Santa Terezinha (CEST). The statistic analysis was accomplished through the program Epi-Info and by means of the qui-square test. Among the searched college students (66.7%) answered to have already started their sexual life. Most of the college students (41.9%) had started the sexual life at the age of (19 to 20) years; in the first sexual relation (65.2%) used some contraceptive method. The most commonly used method in the first sexual relation was the condom (80.3%). Currently (82.7%) of the colleges students are still using condoms. They say they know the condom and that they had no doubt about the method. They declared that 78.9% have 1 partner a year with about one or two sexual relations 56.9% per week. The university students do not have many partners, but they usually have sexual relations. 

Objetivou-se identificar o perfil dos idosos residentes em Instituição de Longa Permanência para Idosos no Sul do país; identificar a percepção dessas pessoas acerca da instituição, dos demais residentes, dos trabalhadores, dos cuidados de enfermagem; discutir e refletir acerca do cuidado de enfermagem ao idoso institucionalizado. Pesquisa qualitativa, exploratório-descritiva. Foram sujeitos idosos residentes em instituição. Utilizou-se para coleta de dados um guia de entrevista. Através da análise temática surgiram as seguintes categorias: Percepção das pessoas idosas acerca da ILPI, dos demais residentes e dos trabalhadores e Percepção das pessoas idosas acerca do cuidado de enfermagem que recebem na ILPI. Posteriormente, discutiu-se e refletiu-se acerca do cuidado de enfermagem para os idosos residentes em ILPI, considerando escritos do contexto atual de enfermeiros brasileiros. Esse estudo pode contribuir para a enfermagem gerontogeriátrica, proporcionando subsídios para a melhoria da saúde das pessoas idosas institucionalizadas. 

This study aimed to identify the profile of elderly residents in long-stay institutions in the south of the country, identifying the perception of people about the institution. It also aimed to identify the perception of the other residents, employees, of nursing care and to discuss and reflect about nursing care to the elderly living in long stay institutions. This is a qualitative exploratory-descriptive research, which was done in a long-stay institution in Rio Grande do Sul. The subjects were seniors living in this place. We used for collecting the data an interview guide and the recording. After the analysis, the data were grouped by the profile of participants, about the perception of older residents and employees of the institution, and perception of nursing care they received. Subsequently, we discussed and reflected on the nursing care for elderly residents in long-stay institutions, considering the current context of the writings of Brazilian nurses. This study may contribute to the nursing gerontogeriatry, providing grants to improve the health of institutionalized elderly.  

Pesquisa relevante à Saúde Pública, pois suscita qualidade da imunização. Estudo descritivo, realizado nos 11 Centros de Saúde da Família da Secretaria Executiva Regional I, de Fortaleza-CE. Objetivou-se conhecer atuação da equipe de enfermagem na sala de vacinação; e investigar condições de funcionamento da sala. Dados coletados conforme Programa de Avaliação do Instrumento de Supervisão Sala de Vacinação – PAISSV (Versão 2.0/2004). A equipe de enfermagem mostrou-se promotora da imunização, sendo o enfermeiro responsável técnico por 100% das salas, todavia é necessária supervisão diária. Merecem melhorias: distância da geladeira à parede; degelo; organização das vacinas na geladeira, bobinas no evaporador, uso de bandejas não-perfuradas, manutenção da gaveta de legumes, garrafas com água dispostas na base e portas isentas de partes removíveis. Dez salas usavam o mapa de controle de temperatura, mas temperaturas eram registradas fora do parâmetro aceitável, sem providências cabíveis. Temperatura das caixas térmicas sem monitoramento em seis salas. 

It is a relevant research to public health because it approaches the immunization quality. This is a descriptive study ac­complished in the 11(eleven) Family Health Centers of the Regional I Executive Secretary, Fortaleza – CE. The objective was to learn about the nursing team service in the vaccination room and to investigate the functioning conditions. Data were colleted based on the Evaluation Program Instrument for Monitoring of Vaccination Room – PAISSV (Version 2.0/2004). The nursing team was promoting the action of immunization and the nurse had a technical response in 100% of it. Nevertheless, it requires daily supervision. Some improvements like the following are required: distance from the refrigerator to the wall; refrigerator thawing; vaccines organization; evaporator coil, vaccines in non-perforated trays; maintenance of the vegetables tray; water bottles placed at the base and the door free of removable parts. Ten rooms used the map of monthly temperature control, but we found high temperatures without control. There was also lack of thermal box monitoring in six rooms. 

As crianças com paralisia cerebral sofrem com as conseqüências da lesão ao cérebro apresentando dificuldades que afetam as atividades de vida diária e, a família deve receber apoio dos profissionais para enfrentar o problema. O estudo objetivou investigar como as mães participam no tratamento de seus filhos, bem como as possíveis dúvidas que possuem quanto ao cuidado em casa dos mesmos. É um estudo descritivo com abordagem qualitativa realizado em junho de 2008 no Núcleo de Tratamento e Estimulação Precoce. Foram entrevistadas 12 mães de crianças com paralisia cerebral por meio de um roteiro de entrevista semi-estruturado. Percebemos que essas mães possuem uma participação incipiente no tratamento dos filhos, limitando-se ao acompanhamento e sendo dependentes de orientações profissionais. É preciso que sejam adotadas estratégias de enfrentamento por pais e profissionais, como o fornecimento de explicações sobre a patologia, maior participação dos pais no tratamento e visitas domiciliares. 

The children with cerebral palsy suffer with the consequences of the injury to the brain presenting difficulties that affect the activities of daily life. Such pathology also reflects in the behavior of the involved family. This family must receive support from the professionals to face the problem. The study aims to investigate how the mothers participate in the treatment of her children, as well as the possible doubts they have concerning home care. It’s a descriptive study with qualitative approach carried out on June 2008 at the Nucleus of Treatment and Precocious Stimulation. 12 mothers of children with cerebral palsy were interviewed, by means of a semi-structured script. We perceive that these mothers possess an incipient participation in the treatment of the children, limiting themselves it the escort and being dependent of professional explanation. It is suggested the necessity that strategies of confrontation of parents and professionals are adopted. Such measure is required as a supply of explanations about the pathology and as a greater participation of the parents in the treatment and domiciliary visits. 

Pesquisa Convergente Assistencial realizada à luz do referencial teórico de Paulo Freire, com o objetivo de desvelar criticamente a Carta dos Direitos dos Usuários da Saúde, e criar estratégias de empoderamento na comunidade por meio de oficinas educativas. Participaram deste estudo 470 Agentes Comunitários de Saúde de Florianópolis/SC, organizados em pequenos grupos de diálogo, que elaboraram cinco estratégias para viabilizar o cumprimento dos direitos e deveres dos usuários, a saber: divulgar em visitas domiciliares a importância do Conselho Local de Saúde; o Plano de orientações aos usuários sobre os medicamentos; fixar cartazes na Unidade Local de Saúde sobre o primeiro princípio da Carta; divulgar outros serviços de apoio à saúde; e, divulgação e empoderamento da comunidade sobre seus direitos e deveres. As intervenções apontadas inspiram ao fortalecimento de ações em educação e saúde, com vistas à instrumentalização da equipe de saúde, sem exigir do Estado grande demanda da estrutura socioeconômica. 

The objective of this Convergent Care Research, based on the theoretical reference of Paulo Freire is to critically unveil the Letter of Health Care Users’ Rights and to create strategies for empowering the community through educational workshops. This study counted upon the participation of 470 Community Health Care Agents in the municipality of Florianópolis, SC, Brazil, organized into small discussion groups, which permitted a collective elaboration of five strategies, namely: disseminate the importance of the Health Care council through home visits, orientation plan for users concerning the “medication”, fixing posters about the first principle of the Letter in the Health Unit; disclose other health care support services; and the promotion of the Letter as an empowering instrument for the community. The interventions aimed to inspire the strengthening of actions between education and health with the objective of developing the health team, without requiring demands of socio-economic structure from the State.

Objetivou-se avaliar o cuidado materno aos filhos menores de seis meses nascidos expostos ao HIV/Aids com vistas à redução da transmissão vertical. Em ambulatório especializado em Fortaleza/CE, foram entrevistadas 18 mães no segundo semestre de 2007. Estudo do tipo exploratório-descritivo com abordagem quantitativa. Questões avaliaram as recomendações para cuidado em saúde na perspectiva da prevenção da transmissão vertical. Nenhuma mãe ofereceu amamentação natural ao filho; 94,4% ofertaram de maneira adequada a Zidovudina® xarope; 27,8% não conduziram o filho para acompanhamento especializado, tampouco realizaram exames específicos; 53,9% tiveram frequência inadequada nas consultas e 55,6% das crianças não receberam profilaxia para pneumonia e o calendário vacinal estava atrasado. Todas as crianças receberam aleitamento artificial, embora com diluição, frequência e quantidade inadequadas, e alimentação complementar incorreta. Conclui-se que os cuidados proporcionados aos filhos nascidos expostos ao HIV não estão em total consonância com normas preestabelecidas para redução da transmissão vertical no Brasil. 

This study aimed to assess maternal care delivery to children younger than six months exposed to HIV/aids aiming to decrease vertical transmission. Eighteen mothers were interviewed at a specialized outpatient clinic in Fortaleza, Brazil, in the second semester of 2007. It was an exploratory and descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The questions assessed health care recommendations from the perspective of vertical transmission prevention. None of the mothers had breastfed their children; 94.4% adequately offered Zidovudine® syrup; 27.8% had taken their children neither for follow-up at specialized services nor for specialized tests; 53.9% had attended medical appointments inappropriately; 55.6% of children had not re­ceived the prophylaxis for pneumonia and had not even received obligatory vaccines in time. All of the children had received artificial milk, with inadequate dilution, frequency and quantity, and incorrect complementary feeding. It is concluded that the care provided to the children exposed to HIV at birth is not fully in line with pre-established standards to reduce vertical transmission in Brazil. 

Estudo bibliográfico com o objetivo de analisar pesquisas brasileiras enfocando a saúde mental no contexto da estratégia saúde da família (ESF) frente à atual política de saúde e saúde mental e aos princípios da reforma psiquiátrica. realizado a partir de busca nas bases de dados da bireme, utilizando os descritores ‘saúde mental’ e ‘programa saúde da família’. as publicações se compuseram de artigos indexados e acessíveis na íntegra coletados em maio de 2008. a análise deu-se por leitura exploratória, seletiva, analítica e interpretativa. mesmo considerando o processo de reforma psiquiátrica no país e as recentes experiências de inclusão de ações de saúde mental na estratégia de saúde da família, ressalta-se a existência de número restrito de publicações. ainda neste sentido, as publicações evidenciam limites para a abordagem da saúde mental na esf, relacionando-se à demanda elevada, ao pouco manejo com a temática e à priorização das ações em outras áreas. 

This is a bibliographic study which aims to analyze Brazilian researches which focus on mental health in the context of the Family Health Strategy (FHS) facing the current health policy and mental health as well as the principles of psychiatric reform. The inquiry was made by searching the BIREME data basis using the keywords “Mental Health” and “Family Health Program”. The publications consisted of articles provided with an index accessible in full, collected in May, 2008. The analysis was made through exploratory, selective, analytical and hermeneutic reading. Even considering the psychiatric reform process in the country as well as the recent experiences with mental health action inclusion in the Family Health Strategy, a restrict number of publications is pointed out. The publications show limitations to the mental health approach in the FHS, concerning high demand, little practice with the thematic and priorization of actions in other areas. 

Este estudo tem o objetivo de refletir sobre a percepção da autoimagem corporal no contexto da adolescência e a inserção da enfermagem numa perspectiva integral sobre essa temática. A revisão da literatura comprovou que os adolescentes vivem uma fase de transição, na qual apresentam uma série de transformações de ordem biológica, psíquico, emocional e social que vão refletir na vida adulta. Nesse processo de construção de sua identidade insere-se a sua percepção corporal, envolvendo a satisfação com sua autoimagem e a insatisfação com suas aparentes imperfeições físicas. Conclui-se ser importante que o enfermeiro atue, igualmente, na satisfação da autoimagem corporal do adolescente, ao mesmo tempo em que intervém nos demais aspectos relacionados à saúde do indivíduo, para que se tenha de fato sua abordagem integral. 

This study aims to reflect on the self-perception of body image in the context of adolescence and the insertion of nursing in an integral perspective on this issue. This review of literature confirmed that the teenagers live a transitional phase, in which they present a series of transformations of biological, social, psychical and emotional dimensions. They also confirmed that such facts will reflect in adult life. This process of building their identity is part of their body perception, involving satisfaction with their self-image and dissatisfaction with their apparently physical imperfections. Then, it is important that the nurse acts also in the satisfaction of self-body image of adolescents, while acting in other aspects of the person’s health which has, in fact, his integral approach. 

Esta pesquisa objetivou identificar crenças que permeiam a vivência dolorosa de mulheres com fibromialgia segundo o referencial teórico de Rokeach. Foram entrevistadas 42 mulheres atendidas em Ambulatório de Ortopedia e Traumatologia do Ceará. Utilizou-se um questionário que continham perguntas sobre crenças espirituais, enfrentamento da dor e valores pessoais. Foram identificadas crenças centrais primitivas de consenso unânime, quando afirmam crença em Deus e buscar apoio na religião; e de consenso zero, relacionadas a sentimentos de medo e ao acreditarem que Deus ajuda no alívio da dor. Na crença de autoridade destacaram-se Deus e a família. Esta classificação permitiu a visualização de crenças propícias a mudanças, incitando o profissional de saúde a orientar também o familiar sobre a sua importância na participação do tratamento da fibromialgia. Percebe-se que crenças espirituais podem auxiliar no enfrentamento da fibromialgia e contribuir para uma boa saúde mental por serem constantemente fortalecidas pelas mulheres.
