Processes of inclusion of people with disabilities in Higher Education: A systematic review

In the last two decades, Brazil has experienced several processes of structural changes in the field of Education, associated with social, political, economic, and cultural transformations that culminated in the expansion of the National Education System. The inclusion of people with disabilities in Higher Education has been defined as a State policy; however, much still needs to be made so that there is an effective inclusion of people with disabilities. In the present study, we carried out a systematic review to highlight issues related to the perception of the process of inclusion of people with disabilities in Higher Education. To this end, a systematic literature review was carried out with a search for articles in the Lilacs, PubMed, Scielo, Scopus, and Web of Science databases, selecting articles published between 2016 and 2020, using the terms of reference “Pessoas com Deficiência”, “Educação Especial” and “Ensino Superior” in Portuguese and “Disabled Persons”, “Education, Special” and “Education, Graduate” in English. Five articles were selected, addressing aspects of legislation and student/teacher perception about the studied topic. The findings indicate that inclusion as a process aimed at reducing inequalities in Higher Education emerges as an important public policy, with a great lack of both the architectural adequacy of the Institutions and the adequacy of pedagogical practices and qualified teacher training to provide the required support by the students. Approaches aimed at adequate inclusion must be implemented by Higher Education Institutions, public or private, in order to guarantee equal opportunities for people with disabilities in relation to other students.

Monitoring the training load in the race: Physiological and methodological aspects in the practical applicability of this modality: Monitoramento da Carga de treinamento na Corrida

In the running, the demand for adjustments to optimize the stimuli for obtaining better performance is relevant and indispensable. With that, the prescription for running training, be it short, medium and long distance, must be strictly adequate, as well as the entire recovery process, thus allowing for better physiological adaptations. For this, the control of the training load is something essential and in addition, the possibility of obtaining positive responses becomes greater, since the individual will be more protected from possible stresses resulting from the accumulation of fatigue. The control of the training load is a great tool for coaches to identify the moment to continue in the application of stimuli, as well as in the control of these before the athletes. With this, it is possible to avoid excessive overloads that can expose the athlete to a decrease in performance and even an injury and, in the race, this intervention is extremely important. Among the types of assessments used, the use of calculating the subjective perception of the session effort (RPE), heart rate (HR), heart rate variability (HRV) and biochemical markers (lactate, creatine kinase and salivary cortisol) are the most common among the measurements of the training load (or internal load). The purpose of this review was to describe the efficiency of these methods and responses that make it possible to assess the training load in the running modality. Several studies have demonstrated, through different tools for this type of analysis, the efficiency and above all the importance of the procedure of analysis and evaluation of the training load. Indirect procedures, such as PSE and HRV, have been correlated by different studies, with other internal indicators of exercise intensity, such as, for example, oxygen consumption, heart rate and lactate concentration. However, it is necessary to carry out more studies investigating the training load in athletes / runners, in order to have more information about this extremely important tool for this modality.

Dopamine docking studies of biologically active metabolites from Curcuma longa L.

The dopaminergic system is involved in a wide range of neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. The lack of receptor subtype specificity is related to several pharmacological side effects that are observed during therapy among parkinsonian and schizophrenic patients. It is of paramount importance to search for new compounds that act on dopamine receptors with therapeutic potential, higher clinical effectiveness, and fewer adverse effects. In the present study, we performed a molecular docking study of D2, D3, and D4 receptor interactions with 92 metabolites from Curcuma longa using an in silico approach. We sought to identify compounds for possible drug development. A virtual library of compounds was built using molecules that were identified in the phytochemical characterization of C. longa. Protocols that were validated by redocking were applied to a virtual scan of this library using the Autodock-v4.2.3, Autodock Vina, and Molegro-v6.0 Virtual Docker programs, with four repetitions each. The three-dimensional structures of D2, D3, and D4 receptors in complex with risperidone, eticlopride, and nemonapride were obtained from the Protein Data Bank. Four compounds—stigmasterol, β-sitosterol, cholest-5-en-3-one, and cholestan-3-ol,2-methylene-(3β, 5α)—were the most likely to bind D2, D3, and D4 dopamine receptors, suggesting their potential for possible drug development.

Endodontic images as a forensic identification: A literature review

Several radiographs are taken during endodontic treatment, thus providing a large number of images with individual characteristics that can be used for forensic identification of an individual. This study aimed to review the literature related to the use of endodontic radiographs in the identification of cadavers. A bibliographic search was carried out in the following databases: PubMed, Scielo, Periódicos Capes, and Web of Science. The keywords used were: forensic dentistry, endodontics, dental radiography, forensic identification. In total, 24 articles related to radiography in the identification of cadavers were found. Among them, 8 studies were selected for including endodontic radiographs for this purpose, comprising different types of studies: case reports of forensic identification through endodontic radiography (4); “in vitro” studies on the influence of high temperatures on endodontic materials and their radiographic images (2); a literature review on how radiographs can be used for identification (1); a comparative study between antemortem and post-mortem endodontic radiographic images (1). Overall, the present study showed that endodontic radiographs have a significant amount of information that can be used to identify a cadaver. Therefore, it is important to perform and store radiographs properly and for long periods. Literature related to the subject is still scarce and further studies are needed.

Control strategies for Conyza spp. in soybean pre-planting: Single or sequential applications?

Conyza spp. it is a difficult species to control, especially in more advanced phenological stages requiring specific chemical control strategies. The objective of this work was to evaluate the control of Conyza spp. through an application of 2,4-D herbicide + glyphosate, followed or not, by sequential applications of desiccant herbicides in isolation and/or associated with pre-emergent herbicides in pre-planting of soybean crop. The experiment was carried out in the field in an area with natural infestation of Conyza spp. in a randomized block experimental design with 4 replications and 18 treatments. An application of 2,4-D + glyphosate (975 + 1025 g a.i. ha-1) was performed and 15 days after the initial application (DAI) sequential applications were performed: diquat (400 g a.i. ha-1); carfentrazone (30 g a.i. ha-1); glufosinate ammonium (500 g a.i. ha-1); saflufenacil (49 g a.i. ha-1) individually and associated with flumioxazim + imazethapyr (50 + 100 g a.i. ha-1); sulfentrazone + diuron (245 + 490 g a.i. ha-1) and diclosulam (29.4 g a.i. ha-1) and the control without herbicide application. A single 2,4-D + glyphosate application was not effective in the control. Applications that relied on carfentrazone were ineffective in controlling. Diquat, saflufenacil and ammonium glufosinate, associated with pre-emergent herbicides (diclosulam, sulfentrazone + diuron and flumioxazim + imazethapyr), resulted in a control greater than 80%. Carfentrazone is not an alternative for the control of Conyza spp., diquat, glufosinate ammonium and saflufenacil isolated and/or associated with pre-emergent herbicides are viable in the control of Conyza spp.

Effect of the addition of psyllium (plantago ovata forsk) on the physicochemical characteristics of frozen banana pulp during storage

Psyllium is a soluble fiber that has aroused the interest of several researchers for presenting proven functional benefits such as reducing LDL cholesterol, controlling blood glucose, delaying gastric emptying time among others. This study aimed to elaborate a banana pulp added psyllium and verify the effect on the physicochemical parameters (pH, total titratable acidity, color and rheology) during 90 days of storage under different temperatures (- 8 °C and – 18 °C). The results showed that the addition of 3% psyllium altered some parameters: the pH did not present a significant difference at time 0, but at times 30 and 60 it showed a difference and at the end of storage it did not show any difference, the ATT did not change at time 0 , but from time 30 it showed a significant decrease until the end of the storage period, the psyllium having a darker color than the banana reduced the luminosity (L *), it was verified that the addition of psyllium increased the apparent viscosity of the pulp. Psyllium has the potential to be used in banana pulp, since the changes in pH and TTA did not affect the quality of the product and meet the recommended by the current quality and identity standard for banana pulp, being a viable product with functional properties that can receive health claims.

Evaluation of the use of essential oils of cinnamon, oregano and eucalyptus in drinking water for broilers

The restriction use of antimicrobials as growth promoters in the production of broiler chickens has proven to be a major challenge. The use of alternative molecules, which have antimicrobial properties, aims to replace these drugs. Essential oils are molecules with great potential to replace growth promoters. The objective of this trial was to evaluate the use of essential oils derived from Eucalyptus globulus, Cinnamomum zeylanicus and Origanum vulgare via drinking water for broiler chickens. 450 COBB male chicks were used, distributed by experimental design, consisting of four treatments consisting of six replicates, with 15 animals in each replicate. The experiment consisted of negative control, positive control (2ppm flavomycin via feed), cinnamon oil + oregano (300 ml/1000L), and eucalyptus oil (300 ml/1000L). Differences were observed in zootechnical performance (p<0.05), whose broilers supplemented with eucalyptus oil had higher body weight than those fed with flavomycin at 20 days of age. The blood biochemical parameters showed difference only on the levels of uric acid in the diet of animals, whose birds belonging to the group that received flavomycin showed higher levels (P=0.038) when compared to birds submitted to the other treatments. The other parameters evaluated did not change (P>0.05), as well as the intestinal histomorphometric parameters (P>0.05). It concluded that the essential oils were able to replace flavomycin as a growth promoter, ensuring adequate zootechnical performance and without affecting the animals' health.

Production and characterization of banana peel flour

The present work had as objective the elaboration of banana peel flour (Musa spp.) bleached by convective drying and determine the physicochemical parameters and bioactive compounds. The peels were washed, sanitized with sodium hypochlorite solution and bleached. Then they were dried in an oven with air circulation at 60ºC and ground. Soon after, the flour was evaluated for physicochemical parameters: pH, total soluble solids (°Brix), TSS/ATT ratio, total titratable acidity, water content, ash, total solids and bioactive compounds: total tannins (TT) and total phenolic compounds (CFT). The flour had a pH of 6.30, higher than the in natura peel 5.53, the brix of 15.3 and that of the peel 6.50 °Brix, the water content 8.24 (b.u) and of the peel 86.2 (b.u). The CFT found in the flour was 124.48 mg EAG/100g, which was higher than that found in the in natura sample, 69.44 mg EAG/100g.  The TT values obtained in the flour were 112.900 mg EAT/100g lower than in the peel, 394.900 mg EAT/100g. The water content of the banana peel flour is within the limits established by ANVISA and can therefore be stored at room temperature without risk of microorganism development. The results obtained with respect to bioactive compounds indicate that the banana peel flour contains significant values and can be incorporated into the human diet.

Use of the multifunctional guide to gain predictability in an immediate inferior loading protocol on implants

The treatment with dental implants has evolved significantly from the 1970s to the present day, both in terms of planning and in bioengineering and surface treatment of these implants, with the aim of making the treatment more effective. Currently the use of immediate implants has been increasingly studied by researchers and used for the oral rehabilitation of patients. The literature shows us that the immediate insertion of post-extraction dental implants is a type of treatment with high success rates, enabling the patient to undergo only one surgery, and return to a faster masticatory and aesthetic function. This requires correct planning and adequate patient selection for successful treatment, considering bone and periodontal conditions. The aim of this study is to discuss the planning of the oral rehabilitation of a patient who underwent total extraction of the lower teeth, installation of 4 immediate dental implants and fabrication of a protocol-type immediately loaded total prosthesis.
