SOLID WASTE: PRESENCE AND THREATIN GEOGRAPHICAL SPACE
This article deals with the trajectory of the solid waste in different historical periods, configuring them as a constructive element of geographical space. The intention to bring the theme from the timeline perspective, is marked out in the conviction of the inseparability of the categories of space and time and its importance in understanding a geographical phenomenon. The methodological support of this research relied on the documentary type of research involving literature, consultation of secondary sources such as books, academic journals, dissertations and theses on the subject. The results presented and discussed in this paper indicated that the production of waste is adjacent to historical time, reflects societies and techniques that generated them, and is a permanent part of the dialectical process of spatial formation.

PATRIMONIAL TERRITORY AND THE TRADITIONAL POPULATIONS PERSPECTIVE
This article tries to bring out elements for reflections on the concept/ idea of patrimonial territory in traditional populations, with a case study conducted in the Ilhabela County, São Paulo State, Brazil, in the Curral neighborhood/beach, of caiçara population, through qualitative interviews and a bibliographic review. By using observation, interviews, theoretical discussion and analysis, the study concluded that the concept of territory is of extreme importance to public policies at several levels and that, above all, it is necessary to try to understand whether the idea the locals have about their territory allows a change of focus from a study about the local territory to a study of the territory based on the experiences of the local people in a necessary dialogue relationship.

METAMORPHOSES IN THE METROPOLITAN SPACE OF SÃO LUÍS (MA)
The metropolis is a reality in Brazil, however production of this form occurs at different rhythms and temporalities and it reproduces the center-periphery relationship. Thus, the purpose of this article is to analyze the spatial aspects of metropolization in the capital of Maranhão state. The centralization of wealth and population, the fragmentation of the urban fabric with the constitution of nuclei with different levels of centrality and the production of new territories with the implementation of housing units in metropolitan municipalities were the main characteristics of the phenomenon studied.
TERRITORIAL DIVISION OF LABOR AND INTERSTATE ROAD TRANSPORT OF PASSENGERS: THE MUNICIPA
The interstate road transport of passengers is an economic activity that clarifies the territorial division of labor, it illustrates part of displacement throughout the country and therefore the joints between different centers. With the advancement of Brazilian urbanization and the expansion of the passengers demand the road passenger transport follows these processes, as it exerts a central social function by making diverse connections between distinct points in the national territory and ultimately reflects the dynamics of the urban network and the spatial interactions occurring in it. In view of such prerogatives, the municipality of Londrina, located in the northern part of the Paraná state, functions as a node of the interstate road transport of passengers, because it is the second most populous city in the state of Paraná. There are dozens of interstate lines that reach states in the North, Central-West, Southeast and South macro-regions, with greater participation of the latter two.
FROM THE PLAN OF THE CITY TERRITORIAL PRODUCTION: AN ANALYSIS OF HOUSING IN PALMAS, TOCANTINS STATE
This article attempts to shed light on the processes of production/reproduction of urban space in Palmas, the designed capital of Tocantins state, Brazil, particularly with regards to housing. Such processes involve acknowledging social and spatial practices carried out by a group of agents who, since the city’s implementation in 1989, have acted to ensure land appropriation, hence underlining their role in hegemonizing political power and in bringing capital accumulation into effect. These social and spatial practices have transformed Palmas’ urban design, producing a city that is dispersed and discontinuous, as well as socially and spatially fragmented.

PATRIMONIALISM AND BUREAUCRATIC STATE IN CONTEMPORARY BRAZIL: DEBATE BASED ON FLORESTAN FERNANDES AND RAUMUNDO FAORO
The aim of this article is to present the main ideas of Florestan Fernandes and Raymundo Faoro, with respect to patrimonialism and bureaucratic state and to point out possible convergences of these ideas. As a methodological procedure, this research was based on literature and empirical data to identify the evidence of the presence of this phenomenon in the current Brazilian reality. When the data and analyzes on the Brazilian tax structure, the penal system and the expenditures with the national political “elite” are observed, signs that the patrimonialism and the bureaucratic state are still part of the Brazilian reality can be verified, even after the “modernization” happened and, that the analyzes of Florestan Fernandes and Raymundo Faoro are very valid to explain contemporary Brazil.

NATURAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL VULNERABILITIES AT THE CONTACT BETWEEN THE RIO DAS VELHAS PLAIN AND THE SOUTHERN ESPINHAÇO RIDGE, MINAS GERAIS
This research realizes the application of the model, proposed by Jansen (2013), in the landscape in the contact between the Rio das Velhas Plain and the western edge of the Southern Espinhaço Ridge. This area is a representative sample of wide geo-ecological diversity due to its location. The research was based on the concepts of landscape and geosystems of Bertrand (2004), guiding field work of Couto and Travassos (2016), and allowed the model’s application of natural and environmental vulnerabilities. From west to east, from the municipality of Corinto to Diamantina, there is the Rio das Velhas Plain, the Karst of Monjolos, the Serra do Cabral and the Southern Espinhaço Ridge, the latter compartment is made of 03 facies (West Face, Interfluve, and East Face). These geosystems confirm the geo-ecological diversity that exists in the contact between the Rio das Velhas Plain and the western edge of the Southern Espinhaço Ridge. The Karst of Monjolos is the most fragile geosystem and susceptible to impacts, while the Southern Espinhaço Ridge has the most resistant physical attributes with vegetation cover fragile.

PATHS OF SYMBOLISM: STEPS OF FIELD RESEARCH IN CULTURAL GEOGRAFHY
The main purpose of this article is to present the results of a reflection on challenges and propositions about fieldwork that are part of research based on Cultural Geography. The researched surveys are focused on the religious phenomena expressed in space and in constant movement. The main question in this study is: how to read the various aspects of religious manifestations collaboratively to the studies? Starting from this questioning and supported in a bibliography that perpasses by classical and contemporary authors of the Cultural Geography we elaborate a theoretical-methodological proposition that divides the fieldworks in three distinct moments: pre-field, in-field and post-field. Therefore, it is proposed to think the fieldworks in Cultural Geography considering this temporal trilogy as support in the reading of the scenarios-symbols that are, in turn, a theoretical-methodological construction that classifies the religious scenarios according to the present movements and the symbologies that they carry, namely: Statue-Totem; ii) Party-Ritual; iii) Itinerary-Sacred Way; iv) Grotto-Altar; v) Temple-Home; and vi) Event Jubilee. It is considered in this construction the theoretical reflection in dialogue with the empirical efforts, thus, these categories, although separated typologically interact deeply each other.

THE INADEQUACY OF CULTURAL REGIONALIZATIONS THROUGH THE ASSUMPTIONS OF POSTCOLONIALIST THEORIES
Speculations on the concept of the term “region” as a geographic category of analysis are abundant and diversified in the specialized literature, which demonstrates its importance and actuality. Nevertheless, the use of the term recurrently presents epistemological challenges when faced with contemporary themes, such as the possibilities of cultural regionalizations. This article aims to discuss the validity of those regionalizations considering the paradigms of postcolonialism – which bases its analysis of culture from a modern anthropological bias –, and, at the same time, to present its cartographic alternatives and challenges.

THE COMMISSION OF STRATEGIC TELEGRAPHIC LINES FROM MATO GROSSO TO AMAZONAS (CLTEMTA) - 1907 TO 1915: WEAVING TRACES IN SERTÃO
With the objective to discussing some of the Strategic Telegraphic Lines from Mato Grosso to Amazonas contributions – CLTEMTA (1907 to 1915) to the processes of appropriation and territorial domain developed by the Republican State in the areas currently corresponding to the Northwest of Brazil, in Mato Grosso, in the so-called “empty hinterland”, a selection of the masters dissertation titled “The Republican Territorial Domain manifested in the Multi-Pressiveness of Rondon Commission” was selected in this text, in which it was intended to point out the actions of territorial recognition executed in the first years of CLTEMTA that strengthened the state body associated with the exercise of its sovereign power in the territory. The data presented were the discussions results and analysis of the Conferences held in 1910 by Cândido Mariano da Silva Rondon, which present an important profile of the geographical ideologies existing in the period, whose materiality is expressed in a cartographic representation by the advances obtained in the expeditions of studies and recognition that were decisive for the process of state legitimation in a society that was in its composition process.

THE QUILOMBOLAS TERRITORIAL COUNCILS IN THE STATE OF BAHIA: MECHANISMS FOR A PROCESS OF SOCIAL CONTROL AND TERRITORIAL GOVERNANCE
The Quilombola Territorial Councils are an initiative of SEPROMI-BA, the State Secretariat for the Promotion of Racial Equality, and its objective is the construction of participatory and deliberative spaces where quilombola communities can organize, defend and vindicate their interests and needs; in particular, their access to public policies and programs, thus contemplating the concept of political governance through a process of social control within the territory of Bahia. This process, on the other hand, presents numerous challenges and perspectives in the cultural and political construction of these democratic practices, with a view to valorizing black people, their roots and building new expectations about the planning of their territories. It is from this perspective that the discussion that orbits the present article is introduced: the addition of the spatial category to the concept of governance, in this case, immaculate in the concept of Territorial Governance, whose imbrication to the key concept originating from Political Science is constructed to form the interpretation that such participatory and deliberative capacity also helps a society organized territorially in the management of public affairs from the joint and cooperative involvement of social, economic and institutional actors, emphasizing the spatialization of governance and social control.

IMPERATRIZ DO MARANHÃO: PROPOSITION FOR THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE PROCESS OF OCCUPATION AND CONSOLIDATION OF THE CITY
This work highlights important aspects of the formative process of the city of Imperatriz, considered the second largest city in the state of Maranhão, located in the northeast region of Brazil. A central objective is the discussion and analysis of the process of occupation of the city, in the elaboration of a theoretical model that allows to agglutinate this understanding. Thus, it is proposed that this process be understood through the approach of occupation fronts, evolutionary stages and succession of economic activities. As a result, the approach allowed to identify that in the history of formation of the city, there were three important stages and distinguished, respectively by the characteristics: “exploratory”, “developmental” and now “consolidation”, all composed by distinct commercial activities, economic conditions.
