“The auditor-manager”: The rhetoric on expertise in Bolsonaro’s government cultural policies
The article seeks to present an analysis of the recent panorama of public management of culture in Brazil, probing discursive formations emerged during the Bolsonaro administration. The research is based on statements of managers of the Brazilian Government cultural department, which came to public from May 2020 to June 2021. The text examines the management logics made visible by these contents, the audiences the discourses help to shape and the connections of this phenomenon with the so-called digital populism. Finally, we suggest a kind of a rhetorical turn in the expertise profile of the public manager of cultural policies, that switches the terms by which that task was historically taken on by the Brazilian State.
