Contribution of green fertilization to the chemical, physical and biological characteristics of the soil and its influence on the nutrition of vegetables

Green manure is an ancient technique where the cultivation of plants specially designed to improve the physical, chemical and/or biological parameters of the soil is carried out. Such plants must have relevant characteristics such as high biomass production, ease of cultivation, rusticity, in addition to the biological nitrogen fixation capacity associated with plants of the Fabaceae family, which is widely explored. Therefore, the present literature review aimed to collect and gather information related to green manure and its effects on soil characteristics, influencing the nutrition of vegetables. Some of the most pronounced advantages of the technique are the maintenance of covered soil, which minimizes losses due to erosion, and the availability of nutrients that can be absorbed by economic crops. In addition, it was possible to identify that most studies date from the past decade, with few being published in recent years. The perceived tendency is for growth and space gain, due to the consolidation of benefits and change in the point of view of both farmers and consumers, who yearn for the consumption of food produced in a sustainable way.

Impact of facial deformity on the patient's perception in orthodontic treatment: A case-control study

This study evaluated the impact of facial deformity on pain perception of patients undergoing orthodontic and orthodontic-surgical treatment. A case-control study was carried out with a population-based of individuals in orthodontic treatment. Cases and controls were defined by the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14). The case group (n=54) included individuals who responded “never” to at least one of the questions, and in control (n=44), those who responded “rarely and sometimes” frequently and “always” to both questions. Cases and controls were paired by sex, age, and clinical conditions in the ratio of 1:1. For data analysis, the odds ratios were estimated with respective confidence intervals of 90%. There was no significant difference between the groups with and without deformities relative to the distribution of the female and male sexes (p=1.000), which allowed pairing the case and control groups in a ratio of 1: 1. Patients with facial deformity showed 2.14 (CI90%: 1.08-4.24) times more chance of reporting the impact on physical pain (p=0.0662). Patients with a facial deformity and orthodontic surgical treatment are twice as likely to perceive physical pain.

Relationship between myocarditis and infection caused by SARS-CoV-2

Based on data from China, where the pandemic originated, cardiac injury has become a prominent feature of the disease, affecting up to 30% of patients and helping 40% of deaths. Several cardiovascular complications have been described, such as myocardial injury (20% of cases), arrhythmias (16%), myocarditis (10%), in addition to heart failure (HF) and shock (up to 5% of cases). The aim of this work is to inform and describe the new myocarditis caused by the new virus. And demonstrate the importance for further studies related to the new disease. All publications that have data on the new myocarditis in patients with the new SARS-CoV-2, scientific publications, official from the World Health Organization and government, between a certain date (2019-2021) were used. Approximately 500 articles were found, languages were checked, and if it was really about the theme of the new myocarditis related to the new virus, then 39 articles were obtained for the discussion. Myocardial injury, signaled by markers, was evidenced in the first cases of the disease. The National Health Council of China demonstrated in a report, 12% of patients without cardiovascular problems. Thus, since SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2 reach cells through the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2, where this possibly also happens in patients infected with the new virus. However, more research is still needed to prove these possible theories.

Microbiological quality of fruit pulp in Brazil: An overview of the years 2010 through 2020

This review provides an overview of the microbiological quality of fruit pulps marketed in Brazil, through an integrative review of studies published between the years 2010 and 2020. Three databases were consulted (Academic Google, Scientific Electronic Library Online and Biblioteca Virtual Health), using the descriptors: fruit pulp, quality, microbiological quality and hygienic-sanitary quality. The search results were evaluated and selected, considering the objective of the study, as well as the inclusion and exclusion factors. The total of the 56 studies were selected for analysis, description, discussion and synthesis of the knowledge produced through them. After analysis, it was found that 94.6% of the studies were published in portuguese and 44.6% carried out in Northeast Brazil. In general, microbiological analyzes were performed using conventional methods (87.5%) and the most evaluated parameters were enumeration of thermotolerant coliforms (71.4%), research by Salmonella sp. (64.3%), enumeration of molds and yeasts (60.7%) and enumeration of total coliforms (58.9%). The studies that carried out the enumeration of thermotolerant coliforms, enumeration of molds and yeasts and research of Salmonella sp., 31.7%, 67.7% and 16.7%, respectively, presented at least one sample in disagreement with the permitted limits Brazilian law. The results of the evaluated studies demonstrated that the processing of fruit pulps in Brazil still faces problems of standardization regarding the required microbiological standards and limits considered safe for commercialization of this product. In this context, the need for greater vigilance and inspection of the processing of fruit pulps commercialized in the Brazilian territory is highlighted.

Active edible films for application in meat products

The packaging protects food from actions of external agents, from alterations and contaminations, in addition to adulteration. Edible films are structures produced from biopolymers, which can replace non-biodegradable packaging. These films have been formulated with naturally polymers of polysaccharides, lipids and proteins, isolated or combined with each other. Edible films produced with polysaccharides and proteins are transparent and flexible, although proteins films are less resistant. They act as a barrier, protecting food and increasing shelf life. Additionally, they can carry antimicrobial and antioxidant compounds, being called active films. The antioxidant power is proportional to the amount of the compound added. Natural extracts such as green tea, cloves, ginger and others can be incorporated into the films, wich could improving the mechanical properties of the films and the characteristics of the food. The use of active edible films has been evaluated in the meat industry as an alternative packaging. This review aims to address the use of edible films added with vegetable compounds, with antimicrobial and antioxidant activity, applied to meat products.

Tuberculosis cases in the City of Almenara - MG between 2014 and 2018

Caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, tuberculosis manifests itself through cough considered as the main symptom, in addition to: fever, night sweats, frankness, weight loss, body aches and tiredness. Thus, failure to treat the disease can lead to the spread and resistance of the bacillus that causes the disease. Tuberculosis, despite being an old disease, presents itself as a serious public health problem in Brazil. Thus, the objective of this research was to evaluate the cases of tuberculosis in the city of Almenara-MG between the years 2014 to 2019. It is a theoretical-practical study founded on bibliographic research and simultaneously with a practical study carried out from secondary data obtained from the city of Almenara - MG, from 2014 to 2018. When conducting the research, it was noted that the pulmonary clinical form was the most prevalent. It has a higher prevalence of cases in males and, above all, with low education. Through data from the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN), cases of tuberculosis (TB) were found in people aged over 20 years. This explains why the BCG vaccine is effective.

Application of flipped classroom concepts and their technologies in the teaching of mechanical tests: use of pre and post questionnaires

The concept of inverted classrooms and the use of internet-based technologies has been used in several areas of knowledge as alternative methods to the traditional methodology. This concept encompasses an active learning method, in which the student internalizes the essential contents before class and then discusses and interacts with the teacher, clarifying doubts. Therefore, this work aimed to analyze the evolution of the mental models of students of the subsequent technical course in mechanics from a Brazilian federal institution, referring to the topic of mechanical tests, to diagnose any conceptual gaps in the development of knowledge. Quantitative analysis was used through questionnaires, applied before and after the content was taught in the classroom. The experiment was carried out with a random sample of n = 13 students, and intended to make a comparative analysis between the participants. According to the results obtained, the percentage of correct answers before and after teaching the content was 33.85% and 69.23%, respectively, which justifies that the students' scores in the post questionnaire were higher in comparison to the previous questionnaire. This fact finds that the flipped classroom or hybrid teaching can lead to better students' academic performance. This work also made it possible to detect learning gaps, which would not be possible to be identified through traditional assessments, enabling an improvement of the teaching and learning process, based on a more effective didactic planning.
