Percepção visual é usada na atividade dos laboratoristas e pode expor a riscos ocupacionais do sistema ocular. Objetivou-se avaliar a saúde ocular, identificar riscos ocupacionais e propor cuidados com a visão. Estudo do tipo exploratório, descritivo e quantitativo. Amostra constituída por 42 leitores de lâminas do setor de citologia de uma instituição pública, divididas nas faixas etárias de 20 a 40 anos e a outra acima de 40 anos. A avaliação compreendeu o exame das estruturas externas e da capacidade visual. A análise considerou antecedentes de saúde/doença, problemas identificados no exame ocular e condições do ambiente de trabalho. No ambiente foi constatada ausência de estímulos para descanso visual. No exame externo detectou-se ardor, conjuntivas hiperemiadas, pontos hemorrágicos, pterígio e estrabismo convergente. Na acuidade visual: visão normal ou satisfatória (13), abaixo da média (10) e visão insatisfatória (19). Conclui-se que é importante a avaliação destes trabalhadores regularmente, bem como de seu ambiente de trabalho. 

Visual perception is used in laboratory work and may expose professionals to ocular system occupational risk. One aimed at: evaluating ocular health, identifying occupational risks and proposing eye care. This study was exploratory, descriptive and quantitative. Sample was of 42 professionals in charge of analyzing blades in laboratory at the cytology sector of a public institution, divided into a group composed of people from 20 to 40 years-old and another one composed of people up to 40 years-old. Evaluation involved the exam of external structures and of visual capacity. Analysis took into account health/disease background, problems identified in the ocular exam and working conditions. In the working area one could notice that there were no stimulation objects for visual rest. In the external exam one detected eye burning, hiperemi conjunctivis, bleeding points, pterygium and convergent strabismus. Concerning visual accuracy: regular or satisfactory vision (13), below the average (10) and non-satisfactory vision (19). It is important the evaluation of these workers regularly and their work environment as well.

What we pursue these few years of work, striving for seriousness, ethics and believing in success despite adversity, begins to materialize. The combination of these three factors and other more favored the first indexing of the journal. We want to communicate formally to our subscribers, authors and institutional partners that the Rev. O estudo objetiva identificar o perfil de famílias de crianças desnutridas internadas, no período de maio a junho de 2001, em uma instituição de prevenção à desnutrição, em Fortaleza-Ceará. Participaram do estudo 10 mães acompanhantes de crianças internadas. Os dados foram obtidos através de entrevistas e nos resultados encontrados, apuraram-se, como aspectos mais marcantes: fator socioeconômico desfavorável, 70% das mães não concluiu o 1º grau, 60% tem dificuldade de acesso aos serviços de saúde, a maioria das crianças é composta de menores de 3 meses, quando o aleitamento materno é fundamental, e 50% delas nunca foram amamentadas. Concluiu-se que esses fatores contribuíram para o desencadeamento da desnutrição e grande parte das mães tornaram-se alheias às necessidades e aos benefícios que poderiam obter através de uma assistência adequada de saúde. 

The desnutrition is a nutrition disease where is an inadequate dietetic ingestion that results on low nutritional reserves that correspond on lose of weight, growing retard and immunity reduction. The study object identify the desnutritioned children’s families profile. This is an descriptive and exploratory research happened on an institution of desnutrition prevent in Fortaleza, Ceará, with 10 mother who were interned with their children between may and june of 2001. The information’s were obtained by interviews and on the results we found the main aspects were: low economic and social factor, 70% of the mother didn’t have the first degree (of the school) complete, 60% of the mothers have problems on accessing the health services, the most part of the children are under 3 months, and where the motherly milk is very important 50% of the children never had the motherly milk. We conclude that these factors contributed for desnutrition braking up and a big part of the mothers didn’t know the necessity and benefit that they could obtain by an adequated health assistance. 

Estudo desenvolvido com dez mães de recém-nascidos (RN) internados em Unidade de Internação Neonatalógica (UIN) de uma Maternidade-Escola em Fortaleza-CE. Objetivou favorecer as relações interpessoais das mães e propiciar ambiente acolhedor onde fossem compartilhadas experiências. Os dados foram coletados em novembro/2001, através de grupos de encontro de Carl Rogers. Os discursos foram categorizados segundo Bardin (1977), analisados à luz da Teoria Humanística de Enfermagem de Paterson e Zderad (1976) e culminaram nas temáticas: sentimentos e expectativas da mãe em relação ao filho internado; estado de saúde do bebê; separação em consequência da alta hospitalar materna e autoconfiança materna. Concluímos que o grupo possibilitou a compreensão da vivência das mães dos RN internados. 

Study developed with ten mother of newborns taken into the neonatology unit of a maternity school hospital in Fortaleza – CE. The goal was to favor mother’s interpersonal relations and to provide an welcoming environment where experiences could be shared. Data were collected in November/2001, based on Carl Rogers meeting groups. Speeches were categorized accoding to Bardin (1977), analysed in the light of the Human Nursing Theory by Paterson and Zderad (1976) and resulted in the issues: feelings and expectations of the mother concerning her baby in the hospital; the baby’s state of health; separation as a result of motherly discharge and motherly self-confidence. We concluded that the group allowed the understanding of the experience of mothers with newborns taken into the hospital. 

Objetivamos investigar o conhecimento de crianças asmáticas sobre seu diagnóstico, práticas preventivas e as condutas diante da crise. Estudo exploratório-descritivo realizado junto a 35 crianças atendidas num hospital público da cidade de Fortaleza-CE. Entre as crianças do estudo, 88,6% sabiam o nome de seu diagnóstico; 54,3% afirmaram ter recebido essa informação da mãe; 37,2% receberam dos profissionais de saúde e 5,7% descobriram ouvindo as orientações que os profissionais davam às mães. Concluímos que as crianças possuem um bom conhecimento sobre sua doença, entretanto, os profissionais de saúde são os que menos informam sobre o processo saúde-doença dessas crianças. 

We aimed at investigating the knowledge of asthmatic children on their situation, preventive practices and behaviors in the face of crisis. It is an exploratory and descriptive study developed together with 35 children assisted at a public hospital in the city of Fortaleza – CE. Among the children studied, 88.6% knew the name of their disease; 54.3% said they got that information from their mothers; 37.2% got that from health professionals and 5.7% discovered by listening to the guidelines doctors gave to their mothers. We concluded that children have good knowledge on their disease but health professionals are the ones who less inform about the health-disease process of those children. 

Buscou-se neste estudo averiguar: preconceitos que os clientes HIV+ enfrentam e informação que possuem acerca de seus direitos e deveres; posicionamento dos profissionais de enfermagem sobre seus direitos e deveres ao cuidar do cliente HIV+. Participaram HIV+assistidos pelo Grupo de Apoio a Vida – GAV e a equipe de enfermagem de um ambulatório de infectologia. A maioria dos soropositivos têm conhecimento de seus direitos e deveres, porém, não os defendem. Existe preconceito e desrespeito por parte de alguns profissionais de enfermagem. Contudo, a maioria desses profissionais conhece e respeita os direitos desse cliente. 

This study aimed at verifying: prejudice faced by HIV+ clients and information they have concerning their rights and duties; position of nursing professionals on their rights and duties when treating a HIV+ patient. HIV+ clients assisted by the Group of Life Support (GLS) and the nursing team of an infectology ambulatory participated in the study. Most HIV+patients are aware of their rights and duties but they do not fight for them. There is prejudice and disrespect by some nursing professionals. Nevertheless, most of them know and respect the right of clients. 

Estudo descritivo e exploratório que objetivou criar condições favoráveis de interação entre as mulheres, estimulando reflexões sobre eventos da vida, com destaque às repercussões psicossociais da mastectomia; promover a elevação da auto-estima e da qualidade de vida visando a harmonização pessoal; desencadear vivências grupais que proporcionem troca de experiências e “desabafos”. Participaram 10 mulheres integrantes do grupo GEPAM (Grupo de Ensino, Pesquisa, Auto-ajuda e Assistência à Mulher Mastectomizada), entrevistadas nos meses de dezembro de 2000 a fevereiro de 2001. Os depoimentos foram organizados de acordo com a análise de conteúdo e agrupados nas categorias: partilha de sentimentos e necessidades, mecanismos de solução de problemas; espaço educativo; espaço interativo oportunizando amizades e troca de experiências. Pôde-se perceber que a comunicação é um forte mecanismo utilizado pelas mulheres mastectomizadas, para reforçar e elevar a auto-estima, melhorar a qualidade de vida e obter uma harmonização interior. 

Descriptive and exploratory study that it aimed at to create favorable conditions of interaction among the women, stimulating reflections on life events, with prominences to the repercussions psychosocial of the mastectomy; to promote the elevation of the self-esteem and of the life quality seeking the personal harmonization; to unchain existences groups that provide change of experiences and “relieves”. Ten integral women of the group GEPAN (Group from Teaching, Research, Self-help and Attendance to the Mastectomized woman) were interviewed in the months of December of 2000 to February of 2001. The depositions were organized in agreement with the content analysis and contained in the categories: share of feelings and needs, mechanisms of solution of problems; I space educational; I space interactive creating friendships and change of experiences. It could be noticed that the communication is a fort mechanism used by the mastectomized women, to reinforce and to elevate the self-esteem, to improve the life quality and to obtain an interior harmonization.  

Estudo descritivo com abordagem qualitativa que buscou conhecer como o enfermeiro do programa saúde da família concebe a educação em saúde como prática de trabalho. Para tal, foi utilizado entrevista e observação participante. Os resultados revelaram que os conceitos dos enfermeiros do PSF se enquadram nas seguintes categorias: mudança de comportamento, a pessoa como o centro e política de fortalecimento da pessoa. O trabalho permitiu visualizar que passos iniciais vem sendo dados para a compreensão de educação em saúde em um conceito ampliado. 

This is a descriptive study with qualitative approach that aimed at knowing how the nurse of the Family Health Program sees health education as a working practice. For that, interview and observation of the participants were adopted. Outcomes showed that FHP nurses’ concepts fit the following categories: change of behavior, the person as the center and policy of personal strengthening. The work allowed to visualize the initial steps that have been adopted for the understanding of health education in a widened concept. 

Objetivou-se investigar os motivos de ingresso de alunos em um curso técnico de enfermagem. O estudo descritivo qualitativo foi desenvolvido em fevereiro de 2002, com 56 alunos de um curso técnico de enfermagem privado. Os aspectos éticos foram considerados. Os achados foram organizados em categorias temáticas e analisados, mostrando os seguintes motivos: Preocupação social, contato anterior com a profissão, gostar de cuidar, interesse pela área ou por áreas afins, oferta de trabalho e vocação/vontade própria ou de outrem. Conclui-se que os achados são importantes para orientação dos cursos técnicos de enfermagem. Recomenda-se realizar novas pesquisas em outras instituições, inclusive públicas. 

This study aims to investigate the students’ reason entrance in a nursing technical course. The qualitative descriptive study was developed in February of 2002, with 56 students of private nursing technical course. Ethical aspects were considered. Data were organized in thematic categories and analyzed, showing the reasons: social concern, previous contact with profession, it likes to care, interest to care, interest by the area or by kindred areas, presents areas, presents of work and own vocation/need or vocation/need of somebody else. The discoveries are important for orientation of nursing technical courses. It’s recommended to accomplish new researches in other institutions, and in public courses too. 

O presente estudo visa investigar como o enfermeiro lida com o problema da dor do paciente em pós-operatório. Trata-se de uma pesquisa exploratório-descritiva, cuja coleta de dados foi realizada em um hospital público de Fortaleza, por meio da observação sistemática e de um questionário. A amostra foi construída por 19 enfermeiros da clínica cirúrgica, no período de fevereiro a abril de 2001. Os resultados indicam que houve uma incoerência dos sujeitos entre o discurso e a prática, pois quando questionadas sobre sua conduta profissional, informaram que avaliavam e interviam adequadamente junto ao paciente com dor. Porém na prática não observou-se tais atitudes. 

The present study aims at investigating how nurse deals with the problem of post-surgical pain. It is an exploratory and descriptive research of which data collection was developed in a public hospital in Fortaleza through systematic observation and a questionnaire. Sample was constituted of 19 nurses from the surgical office from February to April 2001. The outcome indicated that there was incoherence of subjects between speech and practice, for when questioned about their professional behavior, they informed that they evaluated and intervened appropriately together with the painful patient.
