This study is about the health professionals’ mental health, aiming at identifying the perception they have of main problems that favor alterations in mental health, according to class leaders and coordinators of undergraduate courses in nursing, medicine, nutrition, dentistry, speech therapy, psychology, physical therapy and occupational therapy. A descriptive and exploratory method was used within the qualitative approach chosen. The research was accomplished through semi-structured interviews, by means of a form containing 41 open questions that were adapted to each interviewee’s function. Through content analysis, a lack of investments of the referred organs in relation to the mental health of the studied professional categories was revealed. However, these organs are aware that these professionals are stressed out, overloaded and some are even frustrated with the profession, compromising the attendance to the population.  

Pesquisa sobre o alcoolismo e suas consequências, cujos objetivos foram: identificar os fatores que interferem na abstinência do álcool e conhecer as manifestações físicas e psíquicas expressas durante a abstinência do álcool e os motivos que levam o alcoolista a beber. Estudo descritivo com 30 clientes alcoolistas em tratamento em um Hospital Público de Fortaleza, Ceará, nos meses de janeiro e fevereiro de 2013. Amostra composta por 27 homens e 3 mulheres na faixa etária entre 15 a 54 anos. Informações levantadas por meio de entrevista semi-estruturada e os resultados foram construídos por meio da técnica de análise de conteúdo. Os resultados apontaram as principais dificuldades do alcoolista diante da abstinência do álcool, destacando-se a depressão, as relações sociais, além de alterações físicas que afetam a saúde e a qualidade de vida. Conclui-se que o tratamento e a recuperação dependem do interesse e da motivação pessoal somando-se alternativas de apoio e ajuda à vítima. 

Research about alcoholism and its consequences aimed at identifying the factors that interfere in the alcohol abstinence, at knowing the physical and psychical manifestations that take place during such abstinence, and at identifying the reasons that lead alcoholics to drink. This descriptive study was undertaken on 30 alcoholic patients in treatment at a Public Hospital in Fortaleza, Ceará, from January to February of 2003. The sample was composed of 27 men and 3 women within an age range of 15 to 54 years-old. Information was gathered through semi-structured interviews and the results were built up through the content analysis technique. The results have pointed out the main difficulties of alcoholics facing alcohol abstinence, in which stand out depression, social relationships, as well as physical alterations that affect health and quality of life. We concluded that the treatment and recovering depends on the interest and personal motivation, in addition to alternatives of support and help to the victim. 

O estudo teve por objetivo identificar e analisar o perfil de 30 gestantes de uma microrregião de saúde do Ceará – Baturité. Os dados foram coletados através de entrevista, nos meses de maio e junho de 2001. Encontrou-se 13 (43,4%) das gestantes em extremos da idade reprodutiva; 21 (70%) possuíam escolaridade abaixo do 1º grau completo; 4 (13,3%) não tinham renda e 23 (76,7%) tinham renda de até cem reais (R$ 100,00) mensais; 7 (23,35%) mulheres tinham gesta igual ou maior que quatro, estando uma em gesta oito e outra em gesta doze; 26 (86,7%) não haviam planejado a gravidez, mesmo assim, 22 (73,4%) se diziam muito satisfeitas com a gravidez. Demonstrou-se a necessidade das equipes do PSF planejarem suas ações com base no perfil social da clientela, sob pena de obterem pouco impacto nas condições de saúde de mãe e concepto. 

The study had as an objective the identification and analysis of 30 profiles of pregnant women who are inhabitants of one of Ceará’s health microregions – Baturité. The data were collected through interviews, in the months of May and June of 2001. It has been found that 13 (43,4%) of the pregnant women were in the extremes of childbearing age; 21 (70%) had not even finished grade school; 4 (13,3%) did not have any source of income and 23 (76,7%) reached an income of up to one hundred reais (R$ 100,00) a month; 7 (23,35%) women had had four or more pregnancies, one of them having her eighth pregnancy and another one having her twelfth pregnancy; 26 (86,7%) had not planned the pregnancy, even so, 22 (73,4%) of them were very satisfied with the pregnancy. The necessity of the FHP’s teams to plan their actions on the basis of the clientele’s profile has been demonstrated, otherwise, a far-reaching impact will not be achieved in the mother’s and in the baby’s health conditions. 

Objetivou-se identificar aspectos da sexualidade no processo de readaptação de mulheres mastectomizadas. Entrevistamos 19 mulheres nos meses de janeiro e fevereiro de 2002, em um ambulatório da rede pública. Os dados foram analisados considerando a relevância das falas contidas nas categorias: Significado da sexualidade, Mastectomia e sexualidade. Nos depoimentos estava claro que o assunto “sexo” era proibido nas relações familiares das mulheres: ”...sexo é uma coisa que eu tenho vergonha de falar até hoje, me dá tristeza porque eu gosto, mas não digo”. As participantes do estudo vivenciaram momentos permeados de sentimentos diversos, tais como: vergonha, tristeza, medo de não ser aceita pelo marido, dentre outros. Algumas mulheres se referiram à solidão e ao abandono, colocando que o enfrentamento da situação da doença e da mastectomia foi muito mais difícil: “Pra mim foi muito difícil enfrentar isso sozinha; se eu tivesse alguém...”. Concluimos que a mastectomia é causadora de traumas, dúvidas e questionamentos, causando mudanças na vida da mulher, no âmbito afetivo, social e familiar. 

The study aimed at identifying aspects of sexuality in the process of readjustment of mastectomized women. We interviewed 19 women during the months of January and February of 2000, in a clinic belonging to the public network. The data were analyzed considering the relevance of the utterances contained in the categories ‘Meaning of sexuality’ and ‘Mastectomy and sexuality’. In the statements it was clear that the topic ‘sex’ was prohibited in the women’s family relationships: ‘... sex is something that I feel embarrassed to talk about until today, it makes sad because I enjoy it, but I don’t say that’. The participants of the study experienced moments permeated by various feelings, such as: shame, sadness, fear of not being accepted by the spouse, among others. Some women referred to the solitude and to the abandonment, stating that the situation of facing the disease and the mastectomy had been much more difficult: ‘For me it was very difficult to face that alone; if I had somebody...’ We concluded that the mastectomy is a source of traumas, questions and regrets, triggering changes in the woman’s life, as far as affection, society and family are concerned.  

Estudo para o desenvolvimento de material e método de educação em saúde para cegas sobre auto-exame de mama. Foram desenvolvidos uma prancha da anatomia da mama, um protótipo tridimensional da mama e um CD explicativo abordando o que é câncer de mama, seus fatores de risco e como preveni-lo fazendo o auto-exame. Os sujeitos foram quatro mulheres cegas. O método de ensino associou o material auto-instrucional com a consulta de enfermagem. A avaliação confirmou que o uso da audição e do tato facilitaram a aprendizagem, destacando-se a clareza da linguagem oral e, quanto ao protótipo e prancha, facilitaram a percepção do conteúdo. 

This is a study aimed at the development of educational materials and at the design of a health education method for blind women under breast cancer prevention. A chart on the anatomy of the breast, a 3D prototype of the breast and an explicative CD describing what cancer is, what its risk factors are and how to prevent it by performing self-examination were developed. Four blind women comprised the sample. Instruction was evaluated before the use of the material. The teaching method associated the self-instructional material with the nursing appointment. The evaluation confirmed that the employment of hearing and touch facilitate learning, in which stands out the clarity of oral language and, in what concerns the prototype and the chart, they have facilitated the perception of the content.  

Objetivamos comparar o conteúdo teórico ministrado em sala de aula com a prática discente no cuidado ao neonato sob fototerapia e avaliar o envolvimento discente no cuidado ao neonato sob fototerapia na primeira experiência de prática hospitalar. Realizado de outubro a dezembro/2003 numa instituição pública de Fortaleza-CE, com graduandos do 4º semestre da Disciplina Enfermagem no Processo de Cuidar I (criança e adolescente) da Universidade Federal do Ceará. Os passos percorridos envolveram uma aula teórica com a temática: Fototerapia e os cuidados de enfermagem ao neonato e, vivência em campo de prática. Utilizamos como estratégia exposição dialogada, dinâmicas e questionário contemplando os objetivos propostos. Os resultados revelaram que existe correlação da teoria com a prática; o aluno se enternece ante a fragilidade do neonato sob fototerapia e a metodologia foi viável contribuindo para o fazer crítico-reflexivo dos discentes considerando o ser humano como o centro de convergência do cuidado humanizado de Enfermagem. 

We aimed at comparing the theoretical content taught in classroom with the students’ practice in the care to the newborn under phototherapy and at evaluating the students’ involvement in the care to the newborn under phototherapy in their first experience of hospital practice. The study was conducted from October to December/2003 in a public institution in Fortaleza-CE, with undergraduate students at the 4th semester taking ‘Nursing in the Care Process I (child and adolescent)’ at Universidade Federal do Ceará. The methodology consisted of a theoretical class focusing on the theme ‘Phototherapy and the nursing care to the newborn’, and experience in the practice field. We used as strategies dialogued exposition, teamwork activities and a questionnaire contemplating the objectives proposed. The results revealed that there is a correlation between theory and practice; the student is moved by the fragility of the newborn under phototherapy and the methodology has been viable, contributing to the criticalreflective doing of the students considering the human being as the center of convergence of nursing humanized care. 

Objetivou-se analisar a participação da enfermeira no cuidado de enfermagem prestado no alojamento conjunto e descrever como esta profissional percebe os cuidados de enfermagem à puérpera e ao recém-nascido. O estudo foi realizado no alojamento conjunto de um hospital público localizado em Fortaleza, CE. Participaram do estudo sete enfermeiras que estavam escaladas nesta unidade. A coleta de dados deu-se por entrevista semi-estruturada, no período de dezembro 2003 a fevereiro de 2004. Os resultados possibilitaram identificar as seguintes categorias: Preocupação com a ambientação e o bem-estar da puérpera no Alojamento Conjunto; Ausência de recursos técnicos para complementar o cuidado de enfermagem e o bom andamento da unidade; Desvelando afetividade no cuidar; Promovendo a educação em saúde. Acredita-se na possibilidade de uma mudança por parte dos administradores, inclusive os de enfermagem com fins de proporcionar à clientela uma estada mais humana e de qualidade. 

The study aimed at analyzing the nurse’s participation in the nursing care provided in the rooming-in and describing how the nurse perceives the nursing care to the puerperal woman and to the newborn. The study has been accomplished in the rooming-in at a public hospital in Fortaleza, CE. The participants were seven nurses that were assigned to this unit. The method for data collection was a semi-structured interview. It was carried out from December 2003 to February 2004. The results made possible the identification of the following categories: Concern with the puerperal woman’s acclimatization and well-being in the rooming-in; Absence of technical resources to complement the nursing care and the good course of the unit; Revealing affectivity in taking care; Promoting health education. It has been concluded that change on the part of the administrators, including the nursing ones, is possible, in order to provide the clientele with a more humane and quality stay.  

O estudo objetiva descrever a experiência da utilização do relaxamento na produção de dados de uma pesquisa com um grupo de 15 adolescentes de um Abrigo Público de Fortaleza-Ce, trabalhando a temática drogas. Foram realizadas oficinas vivenciais, inspiradas na sociopoética através do grupo-pesquisador, que prevê o uso do relaxamento como forma de trabalhar a imaginação e a criatividade dos sujeitos da pesquisa. A metodologia utilizada mostrou-se válida e com resultados positivos, mesmo explicando acertos, avanços e recuos. Com o relaxamento os participantes tornaram-se menos ansiosos, criativos e envolvidos com a pesquisa, mostrando-se como um dispositivo importante na produção dos dados. A riqueza dos momentos posteriores foi favorecida por esse instrumento, criando um espaço de expressão de sentimentos e vivências relacionados ao modo como lidam as drogas. 

The study intends to describe the experiment of using relaxation in the data production on research carried out on a group of adolescents in a public shelter in Fortaleza-Ce, working on the topic “drugs”. Experiential workshops were conducted, inspired on sociopoetics through the research group, which predicts the use of relaxation as a way of working the research subjects’ imagination and creativity. The methodology employed has proved to be valid and has shown positive results, even if it evinced achievements, advances and drawbacks. With the employment of relaxation the participants became less anxious, creative and involved with the study, which shows that this is an important instrument in the data production. The richness of subsequent moments has been favored by such instrument, creating a space to expressing feelings and experiences related to the way that they deal with drugs.  

O presente trabalho é uma pesquisa bibliográfica, relacionada ao ensino no laboratório de enfermagem tendo como objetivos identificar sua contribuição com o processo ensinar/aprender, analisando igualmente sua importância nesse processo. A revisão histórica acerca do ensino das técnicas de enfermagem, comprova que este sempre foi realizado no laboratório de enfermagem. Os novos estudos sobre o tema, além de reforçarem essa idéia, apontam para mudanças desse ensino, ressaltando a importância do agir reflexivo, permeando o saber fazer de forma científica e humanizada. Pensando o processo ensino/aprendizagem, os autores analisados ressaltam que o ambiente menos estressante do laboratório de enfermagem diminui o nível de tensão do aluno, pois é o local adequado para superar dificuldades, facilitar a aprendizagem e possibilitar a articulação da teoria com a prática, o saber e o fazer, permitindo aproximações entre o sujeito que aprende e o objeto da aprendizagem. 

The present paper is a bibliographic research related to the teaching in the nursing laboratory in order to identify its contribution to the teaching/learning process, analyzing also its importance in this process. This historic review regarding nursing teaching techniques, has confirmed that such process has always been carried out in the nursing laboratory. The new studies on this theme not only reinforce the idea, but also point towards changes in such teaching, emphasizing the importance of reflective acting, permeating know-how in a scientific and humanizing form. As they reflect upon the learning/teaching process, the analyzed authors reinforce that the less stressful the environment of the nursing laboratory is, the lower the student’s level of stress, as it is the most adequate place for overcoming difficulties, making learning easier and enabling the articulation between theory and practice, knowing and doing, allowing a greater proximity between the subject who learns and the object to be learned.  

Tomando como exemplo o Programa de Pós-Graduação em Enfermagem do Centro de Ciências da Saúde, Universidade Federal da Paraíba – PPGENF/CCS/UFPB, os autores refletem sobre o impacto da escolha do modelo pedagógico sobre a produção científica da pós-graduação em enfermagem e sugerem que a adoção de uma abordagem pedagógica baseada nas Competências promoveria mudanças nos processos educativos dos pós-graduandos, com possível repercussão sobre o alcance social de suas produções acadêmicas. 

Taking as an example the Nursing Graduation Program of the Health Sciences Center at the Federal University of Paraiba – PPGENF/CCS/UFPB, the authors reflect on the impact of the choice of the pedagogical model on the scientific production of nursing graduate programs, and suggest that the adoption of a Competency-based pedagogical approach would promote changes in the graduate students’ educational processes, with possible repercussion on the social attainment of their academic productions. 

Este artigo de revisão bibliográfica foi desenvolvido com o objetivo de definir as necessidades psicobiológicas e apresentar as suas manifestações mais frequentes no idoso, visando melhor compreensão destas necessidades e melhor atendimento ao idoso e, ao mesmo tempo, preenchendo uma lacuna na Teoria das Necessidades Humanas Básicas, de Horta, que é a não existência de definições para a maioria das necessidades psicobiológicas.
