O trabalho de campo em geografia: múltiplas dimensões espaciais e a escolarização de pessoas surdas

This qualitative research uses the Case Study. The project was submitted to the Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa com Seres Humanos (CEP) of the Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (UFU), with final analysis n. 321/11 and assent filed under n. 147/11. This study aims to reflect on the field work in the teaching process and learning in Geography for the deaf student in a public High School of the State at Uberlândia-MG. Approaches take into account the teaching of Geography in the view of education as an instrument for social transformation, thinking the school as a place where the development of the individuals happens to confront the inequalities in contemporary capitalist society through their civic education. I the investigation we considered the Geography teachers‟ conceptions, the conceptions of the interpreters of Libras and Deaf high school students about: the inclusion model, the current school against cultural differences and the methodologies used in the construction of knowledge in Geography. Choosing the school as object of study, the criterion used was the presence of deaf students in High School in sufficient quantity for research‟s study. The data analysis points to a deficient system of inclusion. In another words, several problems are highlighted by interviewee, which are: there is no continuing education process for teachers and teaching group, teaching resources are inadequate and the curriculum is inflexible. However, teachers and interpreters are favorable to the process of inclusion of deaf students in regular schools. In s spite of this, they consider themselves professionally unprepared to work with these students and other disabilities, pervasive developmental disorders and high ability/talented. Given this reality, teachers and interpreters need to bet on continuing education courses, Career Plan that values the category. It is necessary curricular flexibility and time for educational planning. All interviewee indicated the importance of field work in teaching and learning of deaf students. However, teachers who do not perform this kind of activity reported several obstacles for its implementation, including: excessive workload and responsibility to lead students in places out of the school environment.

A geração de sedimentos e seus reflexos no assoreamento da PCH Piedade - Monte Alegre de Minas MG

The Small Hydro Power has been shown as an alternative on power generation contribution in Brazil. Spite of being a smaller structure in respect to hydroelectric power stations, reservoirs of SHP and its surroundings require some care on the environmental preservation issues. In this sense, the objective of this study was to evaluate the potential generation of sediment in the reservoir contribution area of Piedade SHP by identifying, mapping, ranking and analysis of factors that affect this process; and the collection, measurement and confirmation of its siltation effects in the dam. To achieve the purpose were produced, analyzed and related maps that focused on factors that affect sheet erosion as morphopedology, slope, land use. From these data were pointed out the different classes of susceptibility and the potential sheet erosion. The area morphometry was also analyzed by addressing the drainage density as a factor that determines the transmissibility of the land. Finally the map was organized which identified the areas with greatest potential for generating sediment that may contribute to the silting of the Piedade SHP reservoir. The final map showed a predominance of low potential to siltation, however, the areas that have greater potential to generate sediment are located in areas around the reservoir, which requires care. In line with the preparation of cartographic material were obtained data from the transport and deposition of sediments in the Piedade SHP reservoir during a hydrologic cycle with bathymetric campaigns and sampling suspended and bottom sediment. The data analysis revealed the predominance of sediment discharge mainly in the rainy season, and dissolved solids in the dry season. The sampling of bottom sediments demonstrated changes between textural proportions. The bathymetry showed no significant changes in the bottom relief of the reservoir. Based on these results we tried to help a better use of environmental resources, enabling the increase of the reservoir life.

Base conceitual e metodológica do Plano Nacional de Logística e Transportes (PNLT): uma leitura geográfica

This study addresses the matters of territorial management, regional setting and spatial organization present in the conceptual and methodological basis of PNLT (National Plan for Logistics and Transportation), evaluating, from the perspective of geographical science, the capabilities of reading and intervening the spatial organization of transport systems from its planning instruments. To this end, we review the theoretical and conceptual framework for defining the geographical means of research for approaching the theme of freight transportation and, thereby, establishing the parameters of \"geographical reading\" to be used in PNLT s conceptual and methodological basis. After defining the key elements to understand the geographical issues of freight transport systems, we proceed to the approach of \"logistics.\" In this regard, we stress the ambiguous character of this concept, pointing to its operational capacity of the circulatory logics in the modes of production and, thus, emphasize its \"territorial\" aspects. By defining the concepts of Business Logistics System (BLS) and Territorial Logistics System (TLS), we address specifically the plan s conceptual and methodological basis. Hence, we conclude that, although it is important to break the inertia of the of the sector planning by the Brazilian State in past decades , the plan has reading instruments unable to geographically contextualize transport systems in the country, and therefore their intervention instruments , especially infrastructural projects, are settled in methods strictly based on demand supply/cost benefits perspective and, therefore, ineffective in the assemblage of space, territorial and regional issues that rely on the transportation system of Brazil.

A constituição de sentidos políticos em livros didáticos de geografia na ótica da análise do discurso

The objective of this work is to understand the constitution of senses in the political discourse under the perspective of Geography in textbooks which are written for the high school level teaching of that discipline. With both Political Geography and Geopolitics mediation on discursive formation, political discourse materialized on textual support on researching was taken as the object of research. Confrontation between the Geography epistemological reform and the ideological re-orientation of Brazilian education, was considered. The confrontation puts into debate the dimension of society political relationships and citizenship formation in the context of Geography teaching. After getting to know the net of high school level state schools in Uberlândia (MG) that is composed by 24 schools, six textbooks of Geography that are used by the teachers were listed. Two textbooks were selected which are for the most part adopted. They are Geografia Geral e do Brasil, by Elian Alabi Lucci, Anselmo Lazaro Branco and Cláudio Mendonça, and Geografia, by Lúcia Marina Alves de Almeida and Tércio Barbosa Rigolin. Discourse Analysis of French line, which is a Linguistics field of study, was the theoretical and methodological support for the analysis of language practices in the textbook being this one the expression of schools discourse. That allowed the comprehension of some Geography meanings and their expression in the textbook, specifically the intermediation of political Geography, whose role is important for the formation of this science and the teaching of it. For that, in a macro-instance, the constituent trajectory of the textbook of Geography was followed with special attention to political discourse. The text was enrolled in a pedagogical, economical and legislative conjuncture that conditions its production and circulation; the approach has subsidized another one: a discursive micro-instance that is crossed by discourse notions, discursive formation, subject, sense, silence, statement, memory, among others. In this way, taking the selected books as corpora, beginning with the fragments of the mentioned object and in the wide context previously re-built by the discursive analysis, we approached the political discourse in the corpora with the help of a discursive constitutivity, sense production, heterogeneity and silencing processes. The initial hypothesis was that the importance of citizenship in contemporary basic education and the participation of Geography teaching reveal, in the verticality of the discussions, a series of contradictions in the scenery of the geographical education. The hypothesis was confirmed by the analysis when the linguistic expression of the Geography textbook, silencing and disappearing processes related to the subject-reader were proved to exist. There are also certain debates concerning a geographical presentation of the world what leads to a relative division between the subject and the world, when this subject constructs statements and his citizen s identity.

As ruralidades do Fundão : origens, valores sócioculturais e representações comunitárias no município de Araguari - MG

This research is the result of questionings made about the current condition of the rural community of Fundão, in the city of Araguari- state of Minas Gerais, which despite being one of its embryological nucleus of population, it is now found deserted. There has been a concern to develop a historical analysis. During investigation, it has been searched to clarify the inhabitation process of Fundão, the productive activities, social relations of production and cultural-religious practices which have been developed by its inhabitants. The principle on which it is based is the fact that to understand a current reality of a place, it is necessary to understand the transformations which it has gone through, throughout the historical process, mainly when country modernization has dismistified the idea of infertility in the cerrado (typical local vegetation). In the blossom of this process, rural exodus is almost an immediate consequence. Overall, on the farms and specifically in small properties, new production techniques have contributed to redesign social relations of production. In the case of the rural community of Fundão, before the use of these techniques provided by industrial activities, soil fertility loss, due to its inadequate and intensive utilization has led to changes in the productive processes. As a consequence, a substantial group of Fundão inhabitants moved to the city of Araguari. These socio-spacial changes engraved profound marks in the natural and cultural landscape of the place as well as in the everyday life of the people. As everything has happened at a rather fast pace, it has not always been possible for the people to adapt to the new imposed realities. But some aspects remain, principally in relation to belongings, for even those who have left Fundão to live in the city return motivated due to successive religious festivities in the community. Identifying the reasons which led people to leave Fundão it has been noticed that, although other productive processes have been installed, the place continues to be portrayed. Due to the festivity, a social net also arises to organize profane and religious events. The responsibility for holding festivities is shared with all the members of Fundão community, so as to guarantee its realization. Structural analysis of the rural community has been possible due to motivations and interests involved in the place reproduction. Although Fundão has gone through several productive processes which guaranteed subsistence of families, community maintenance is made possible through religious festivities. In this sense, it has been made necessary to take into consideration cultural and community aspects to understand the process which continues strengthening bounds between people and the place.

As transformações socioespaciais de Frutal MG

This work s purpose is to understand the spatial organization and dynamics of Frutal (MG), a small town that has been going through great economic dynamism throughout the last years and, therefore, socio-spatial changes. At first, Brazil s urbanization process is approached as well as the importance of small cities and the transformations, above all, within the ambit of centrality, that is to say, concerning the influence of the power of polarization and/or leadership from defined spaces due to their concentration of specific elements. Historically, it is presented Frutal s genesis, its development in the economic, demographic and socio-spatial areas and its insertion into regional context. At last, some analysis variables are taken into consideration, such as the county s economic activities, specially those related to agribusiness, which allowed us to understand the connection between their development and Frutal s urban and consequently, interurban dynamics. Finally, this paper helps us to understand the role of social agents in this county s socio-spatial transformations, of which reflections are also noticeable in the urban range. From this work, some tendencies are indicated to Frutal s county and its micro-region.

Manejo integrado para controle do Aedes e prevenção contra a dengue no Distrito de Martinésia, Uberlândia (MG)

Dengue is today one of most important arvobirose that affects humans and is a serious problem for public health in the world, especially in tropical countries, where environmental conditions, mainly temperature, precipitation and the habits of the population favor the presence of production beds, which allows for the development and proliferation of the Aedes aegypti, main vector of the illness. The biggest problem is that public politics directed toward the prevention and control of the vector, do not include the effective participation of the population, therefore failing and the results are the annual epidemics of dengue. Integrated management for the control of Aedes and prevention against dengue, carried out in the urban area of the District of Martinésia, Uberlândia (MG), allowed for the development of different activities relating to environment and health education, in the school and in the community, as well as action with regard to combating the mosquito with the elimination of production beds, that showed to be effective in avoiding an epidemic. The effectiveness of this approach of integrated management occurred, mainly, through the participation of the population in all the activities. Much more than this, no case of dengue occurred in the District of Martinésia in 2004 and 2005.

Ensino de geografia para estudantes surdos: concepções e práticas pedagógicas

Since the year 1992, in Uberlândia city has offered a specialized care for deaf students in mainstream education. Historically, this concern was not always present in the school. Despite the advances made, after two decades of experience, no one knows for sure if the health professionals in this network are adequately trained and if these students are indeed included. With regard to the teaching of Geography, studies and surveys are still incomplete. In this sense, this paper aims to analyze the teaching of Geography to deaf elementary school students (6th to 9th grade) in public schools in Uberlândia / MG. Met up the process of inclusion of these students and identified the concepts and pedagogical practices of teachers of Geography, Teacher Support Services Educational Specialist (ESA) and interpreters Libras. We used a qualitative research through two kinds of data collection: a semi-structured interview and observation. We sought to know, in particular, the training of professionals who work with deaf students, methodologies and teaching materials Geography used, the efficiency of the visuals, the support offered to the improvement of the teaching practice of teachers of Geography, so the demands for deaf students have greater academic success. The survey found that most teachers of Geography is not qualified to teach classes for deaf students. These teachers do not make use of Libras and have full dependence of the interpreter so that there is communication with deaf students. The ratio of teachers with teachers of Geography of the ESA is also deficient. There is a need to create moments where these professionals can dialogue and build together alternatives to improve the education of deaf students. These barriers hinder the realization of significant pedagogical practices to the educational process of deaf students and also end up restricting their participation in society. It was concluded that the most urgent current demands for school inclusion of deaf students are: teacher training, including learning the Libras; rapprochement between the ESA and the teachers of the regular classroom, the constant presence of the interpreter Libras and enabled, in the classroom, just as the research and use of methodologies and teaching materials Geography significant for these students. Teaching Geography applicant must be pedagogical practices based on visualization because the visuals facilitate student learning deaf and can bridge the gap between everyday and scientific knowledge. The technological artifacts, the Internet, the concept maps, the use of images, maps and models, as well as the realization of Field Work are promising.

Educação ambiental com o auxílio de animais taxidermizados do bioma cerrado: formação continuada de professores que trabalham com pessoas cegas e de baixa visão

This research was conducted at Instituto de Cegos de Brasil Central (ICBC), in Uberaba city and demonstrated the use of stuffed Cerrado biome animals by teachers who work with blind and low vision as a viable alternative to Environmental Education. To corroborate whether this was effective teaching tool, was offered an extension course of 44 hours, entitled \"Environmental issues: from theory to practice\" for continuing education, raising awareness among teachers of ICBC on the importance of preserving Environment and also to collect data that proves the efficiency of the proposed goal. We adopted a qualitative methodology and data collection done with questionnaires to participating teachers, one at baseline and another at the end. Research confirms that the use of stuffed animals from the Cerrado biome as a teaching resource for Environmental Education for people with visual impairments. Later this course was offered a collection of stuffed animals to the ICBC that teachers could use in their classrooms, and in other educational spaces for continuing education. The use of stuffed animals contributes effectively to the learning of Environmental Education, therefore, to grope animals, people with visual impairment could feel them in scale with all its anatomical characteristics, such as teeth and coat.

Mapeamento multitemporal e conversão do uso da terra a partir da expansão canavieira no Triângulo Mineiro (2000-2010)

It can be observed that the areas of the culture of sugar cane have expanded its borders in Brazil, replacing the areas formerly occupied by pastures and agriculture. Amendment explained by the increased demand for ethanol, biofuel. Brazil is the leading producer of cane sugar, with a production of 400 million tons of cane harvested. According to UDOP (2011). Minas Gerais excels in the production of cane sugar from the 1990s, which evidences a public policy to encourage sugar mills to produce sugar cane. This research aims to map the expansion of cane sugar in the Triângulo Mineiro which consists of the regions: Uberlândia, Uberaba, Ituiutaba and Frutal, and how this process has led to the replacement of the areas of crop, pasture and natural vegetation cover monoculture said. We used the images (Landsat and RapidEye), georeferencing was done in SPRING 5.2 (free GIS software, available at INPE). The Digital Processing of Images and classification on the computer screen were made in the software SPRING 5.2. The research result shows that there was an increase of 244,408 ha compared to 2000, a period when there were 389,004 ha of cane sugar, an increase of 62%. The micro-region that had the largest area planted to the crop was region Uberaba with approximately 276,500 ha, followed by micro-Frutal with 249,544 ha, with 91,190 Uberlândia and Ituiutaba with 72,373 ha. There was an increase of 228,759 ha from 2000 to 2005. The data indicate that most of the areas of expansion of cane sugar occurred on pastures, followed by agriculture, natural vegetation and then lastly forestry. Mapped in the first period (2000-2005), most of the incorporation of new areas of cane sugar occurred on pastures with 56%, followed by the incorporation of other agricultural uses: 32% natural vegetation: 10 % and forestry: 2% from 228,759 ha expansion. In the second period there was an expansion of mapped 15,649, the category of other agricultural uses increased from 32% to 43%, as grazing goes from 56% to 46% of 15,649 hectares. The dynamic incorporation of new land for cane sugar begins in the first study period (2000-2005), giving up, especially on the areas of grassland. For the period 2005-2010 there is a larger appropriation than in the first period of the areas that were once destined for other agricultural uses.
