Pensando a guerra do Paraguai: representações simbólicas

This essay raises issues about studies elaborated by some scholars in Paraguay s war (1864 1870) from two symbological characters: Paraguay and Francisco Solano Lopez. The selected authors for this research treat Paraguay, since the period of colonization and/or from its independence (1811), and Solano Lopez, paraguayan president (1862 1870), with special focus, but with no similar perspectives; this enables to confront the different issues to notice the divergences, the convergences and the compliments. This way, there is an effort to dialogue with the other authors and make them dialogue among themselves so that the statute of the truth, pursued in the studies through the coherence and conviction of the arguments, can be emphasized and inquired. Therefore, the aim proposed in this work is to critically analyze the single image buildings, which allowed divergent configurations about Paraguay and Solano Lopez as important characters. This is one of the possible ways to think about the conflict in the middle of the 19th century and to understand some explaining arguments that turned out in a multiple and intriguing interpretation of the same historical fact: Paraguay s War.

Práticas de tortura narradas em Torquemada (1971), de Augusto Boal

The purpose of this study was understanding and historicizing the theatrical text Torquemada (1971), by the way of the investigation of representations built about torture during the brazilian dictatorship s period by the dramatist Augusto Boal and also through the connections of the dramatic form on which the play is settled the curinga system with the social experience. We found out that in the preparation of characters acting there was an intention of the author to provoke a determinate effect in the reader/spectator, that s ever oscillating and non-excluding: sometimes using resources to suscitate the identification with the victims of torture, sometimes promoting the right critical distance to stir up repugnance against the violence shown in almost all the scenes. However, for the understanding of the narrative s organization with variable ways of implication of the reader/spectator in regard to the scene (identification or distance) was needful to reflect, previously, about the dramatist s creative process, searching the references and the repertory utilized by him. We detached the questions relative to the Teatro de Arena s public, on which we took as reference the testimonies of the group s members and also the interpretations of critics and academics studies after accomplished, as well as the stanislaviskian and brechtian references on the Boal s artistical activity. After that, we d focus the discussion about the elaboration and reproduction of a specific theatrical language the curinga system by means of the theoretical texts written by Augusto Boal and the interpretations elaborated by critics and academicians. At last, we sought to interpret the dramatic text Torquemada, taking into consideration that form doesn t exist in itself, but that the curinga system s structure just make sense when it s associated with a transmited content.

Olhar nos olhos da tragédia: a ressignificação de Medeia por Oduvaldo Vianna Filho: diálogos entre história e teledramaturgia

Oduvaldo Vianna Filho, Vianinha, played an important role in the dramaturgical scene in Brazil. Exponent of so-called political theater of the 1960s and 1970s, he joined the Arena, the UNE's CPC and the Opinion Group. Versatile creator, his texts walk from comedy to farce, passing through the drama, and what can be observed in all of them is the full field of theatrical carpentry. This versatility has been extended to works produced in the emerging television networks in the country, which meant that in 1970 the author integrates the playwriting team of the already prominent Rede Globo. In Globo TV Network, Vianinha rethought, along with Armando Costa, the series The Great Family, and was author of some episodes of Special Cases program. His playwriting has been studied with increasing frequency in graduate programs in the country. What one observes, however, is that there is a preference for his theatrical drama, very few works being produced about his soap operas. The perception of this gap and the value of texts written for television, especially his adaptations of classical literature for the Special Cases program, underpinned the development of the dissertation presented here. Here we present and discuss the debate that the author embarked on mass culture in Brazil, seeking, from these testimonials, tips and explanations for his actions in that environment, despite his criticisms and his attachment to the PCB. Vianinha s voice is promoted by the intersection of the content of his interviews, his plays, whose characters are professionals of mass media, and the content of scripts designed by him. From the presentation of these scripts, we can see how the author transposed to the Brazilian universe texts designed in periods and societies very different from those in which he lived, an if he held or not the objectives pursued with its theatrical drama, which were representation and recovery of a typically popular culture and awareness of his public on problems that plagued Brazil of the "economic miracle". Among the screenplays written by Vianinha, one especially gratified him - to the point of considering it his best work in television - his adaptation of Greek tragedy, written by Euripides, Medea. Given the beauty of the text and its staging and the lack of analysis of the scene of his soap operas, we finished the job with a detailed analysis of the scene, highlighting the effectiveness of its staging to television language - which exposes the full fielding of the medium by the author - and the new possibilities of interpretation of his Jason, other than a vile traitor, perceived by the interpretive tradition of the original book and its adaptations over the centuries, detail that reveals one of the most valuable features of the author, his humanistic verve, born of his in depth perception about the Brazilian reality. So we tried to contribute to studies on the playwriting of Oduvaldo Vianna Filho and on the history of television in Brazil.

Cultura e relações de trabalho na fazenda Santa Cruz - município de Araguari - MG (1985 - 2005)

This research tends to understand the social and employment relations established between migrants from both Brazilian northeast and Parana and the proprietors of the Santa Cruz Farm - Araguari City, MG, from 1985 until 2005. Maize (corn), soy and coffee are cultivated in the related farm based in work wage-earning relations, however this research is mainly focused on the employment relations established in the tomato culture. I tried to understand the reasons of the migration, the preference for migrant workers and the transformations suffered with the changes in the work relations, which passed through three stages: partnership, pseudo waging and waging. Along with these stages, great changes in these workers´ lives occurred. These workers´ experiences, lived in the crop field, and the relations established in the city during this period, show us all about their struggle in searching for better life conditions, as well as the transformations and interactions of these workers´ ways of living.

Teatro sem arquitetura: as Brincadeiras do grupo Tá na Rua (1980-1983)

This work investigates the theatrical group "Tá na Rua" in the early formative years (1980 to 1983) in order to understand the development and consolidation of an identity which is called popular. With this analysis I try to unveil the group's political position in a debate that is inserted in the concepts of cultural resistance of the post-1964. For that, I'll stick to the script of the show "As Brincadeiras", which was built for street performances. With this research I tried to visualize and understand the historical process printed on the artistic composition of the group giving birth to the trajectories of actors who proposed "break" with the circuit of the rooms of the theater closed and "inaugurate" an alternative theater that dates back a popular culture in the relentless pursuit of approaching a target, and is recognized by the group as the "Brazilian people."

Entre divisas, divisores e um massacre: a emancipação da não construída cidade de Ipatinga-MG

This study aims to construct the History of Ipatinga-MG, with respect to the plurality of agents and events that occurred between 1950 and 1963. The priority is finding two districts of Coronel Fabriciano, which integrate the new city when happened the emancipation of Ipatinga in 1964, constructing the oldest part of its history. In 1958 starts the construction of the Usina Intendente Câmara, which was the first unit of Usiminas S/A. As construction of this plant, part of the history of this city is conditioned to narrate what existed in the Ipatinga village, which is today a region which has become the center since 1922 on the banks of the railroad Vitória-Minas. The Água Limpa village, named today Barra Alegre is considered the oldest near the EFVM, but its history is narrated without much detail. This work intends to reflect on political and human communication these two places had a long time before the arrival of Usiminas until the incident known as the Massacre de Ipatinga , which would be decisive for the emancipation of that place, although it isn‟t recognized. The effort of understanding and how the two districts previously communicated to the capitalist project is what led to a fast population growth from the 1960s. This story‟s fraction of Ipatinga is less put in evidence. Therefore, we prioritize the life of older people living in the region without being aware of how their lives would change dramatically in touch with new characters A variety of human relations was put aside for building a city that makes the Steel of their of human and political investment merchandizing.

Fragmentos biográficos de um anarquista na Porta da Europa: a escrita cronística como escrita de si em Neno Vasco

In order to investigate some fragments of Neno Vasco‟s biography, I bring up in this work his chronicles that were published in the book Da porta da Europa ( From the Europe s door ) and in the press anarchist and working in Brasil and Portugal. From his writing chronicler, I intent to question how Neno make itself (a practice of subjectivity) in their individual and collective path. His writings were primarily used to inform and discuss with brazilians and portuguese readers about the daily struggle carried out by anarchist and workers movements in different countries of Europe. Nevertheless his chronicles also enabled Neno Vasco some kind of writing itself ( escrita de si ), which allowed myself find a key to open not only the door of the history of anarchist and workers movements in Europe, but also and above all, the door of his life history.
